Chapter 8 - Awakening & The Basics Of Power Conduit[3]

'Oh! Great I fucked up' Tom thought cursing himself.

"Tch, What a waste of noble blood, Trash" Elder Jom cursed Tom as if he was a waste of time.

And indeed Elder Jom thought this way. Dim Yellow talent was the worst talent a noble could have. A talent is the range of Magicules a person would have,

Red 1~5 for the absolute worst.

Orange 5~20 bellow average, but not the worst.

Yellow 20~40 a talent expected by the common people for an average life.

Green 40~65 the average talent expected of nobles and also the geniuses among commoners.

Blue 65~100 expected of counts, dukes, royalty etc.

Indigo 100~500 this talent is only seen in kings and emperors of their respective nations.

Violet 500~5,000 a talent that is only known in legends.

As you have interpreted talent is something that is hereditary, so obviously there is a gap between people of noble birth and ordinary ones.

So rarely there are less talented among nobles, but the keyword here is 'rarely' that means there is still a chance for trash like Tom to appear in Elder Jom's eyes.

Although with the help of a high-tier-mana stone and above Tom could possibly increase his talent, But that was still a possibility. High-tier-mana stones were so rare that there is only a small amount of it circulating even in the noble circle.

Even though count Netherlore receives a fixed amount from the Thronehold kingdom, but the count still needs it for his own ascendance and who would, in their right mind spend it on a trash son, even when there are hundred other children who are a hundred times more talented.

Anyway, seeing no bright future for Tom, Jom's attitude also changed. Without talent there is limit towards power and without power their is nothing that Tom could do to make Jom regret.

' Old man sure is disappointed. Well can I brame him. My situation and a kid who went to a prestigious university only to get low grades are similar. Fortunately in my case its just a pretence, and I'm pretty sure that I have a blue talent, also pretty close indigo' Tom thought trying to be positive.

Soon, Tom was literally kicked out after Jom inscribed an yellow mark on his hand.

"Damn that old geezer!! Is it necessary to be so rough!?" Tom cursed gritting his teeth.

Irritated Tom stood up dusting his clothes.

"Just you wait old man!...one day, Your dic*k will humbly reside in your throat." Tom mumbled to himself vowing to take revenge.

Calming himself down, he mumbled while walking towards were his mother is supposed to be waiting, "Shit old man atleast you could've given me my bloodline result!.. Well not that it matters. Hmm I don't know how much purity I have"

Tom looked at his hand were an yellow mark was placed and smiled bitterly.

"Ezekiel, was is really necessary. I know it's my fault for not being accurate... But after today my life is going to be really hard *sigh."

Everyone will get a mark of their own after or before awakening. And this marking is kind of how the kingdom's society worked. With this no one would pick a fight with a person more talented, unless they want to get fucked up as a form of revenge in the future.

There are more cones than pros in this kind of system, but that's for an another date...

"Master, do you know what your real talent is?" Ezekiel questioned instead of answering.

"Hmm? isn't it high-blue."

"Wrong! it's mid-indigo." Ezekiel clarified.

"What the FUCK!!!" Tom yelled attracting few pedestrian's who looked at him like a weirdo.

But, Tom paid them no mind, 'Are you kidding me Ezekiel mid-indigo! that the talent kings of kingdom have...' Tom spoke using his thoughts.

'Formation of Magicules have a direct relationship with the soul and it's actually not a big deal it's the society that makes it a big fuss. The actual problem lies in the mana sources, 90% of the Mana stones mined are ruined because of the lack of proper methods to mine them. And if any kingdom posses such methods it's ought to be a tightly guarded secret' Ezekiel continued.

'As master can guess the rest, only small amount is mined so the economy is poor. Even if a person discovered a mana source, it would likely be similar to giving a monkey a car'

As Tom listened to Ezekiel's explanation, he was pleasantly surprised by how things are.

'So, its the greed that is the boundary. If all the nations came together, sharing their techniques with each other this society would most certainly flourish and new techniques would most certainly bloom, Alas pride and greed.' Tom believed this to be the case.

'Mostly, yes. Just like a society were petroleum is there, but facing problems in the transportation and distribution phase.' Ezekiel said also giving a small example.

'There was not supposed to be a thing called talent atall. Just because of some peoples narrow mindedness the entire population is suffering' Tom thought finding it quite amazing that people throw stones at the sky hoping to hit their foes only to wind-up hitting themselves in the head.

As the conversion went on Tom forgot about the main topic of how he had mid indigo talent.

Tom took quick strides to quickly reach his destination before nightfall. The night is dangerous and you can meet all kind of vicious people in the night

Soon, he reached his destination, a hostelry, where is mother, Anna is staying. Along the way some creepy people spotted him. But when they saw that Tom only had yellow talent, they just saw him as an ordinary kid, probably not even having a single lesser-mana stone.

'This thing does have its perks.' Tom smirked seeing how a fundamentally stupid way of thinking helped him, infact he have 500-lesser mana stones. As they say don't judge a book by its colour.

Tom quickly entered the inn. If one had to compare other inns in this world to this inn one could say that it's pretty decent. But when compared to earth it's ugly as hell.

'But it is fine, I gotten used to it. Unfortunately the delicacies of earth cannot be untasted. To make matters worse the food in this world tastes like crap, only mom can provide me with decent food.Such a pity these people are missing on many things... at least they have sex' Tom mused feeling pity for the people who missed too much in life.

But then he remembered one of his rewards '100-mouth watering modern recipes'

'Or maybe not'

Meanwhile, something supernatural was happening in Elder Jom's house.

The 'Talent assessment crystal' started forming cracks. Dark mist like substance whipped out of the crystal.
