"Wake up!" Kaden shouted in my ear. I jolted up and my eyes opened wide. I yelped as I saw Kaden and Louise laughing at me. This is why I didn't like being late for morning practice. My brothers always used this opportunity to make fun of me.
"Rise and shine." Louise said after laughing at the way I had woken up. Kaden was still laughing at me but his laughs had subsided after Louise talked to me. "Is there something wrong with your magic?" Kaden asked in a girly tone.
I looked at him, annoyed and got off the bed. "Hahaha very funny," I said. "One day I will wake you guys up in a worse way than this. And when you find your mates we will wake you guys in worse ways than shouting in your ear."
"Oh my dear sister, I don't know about his mate but my mate won't support you in anything that doesn't make me happy." Louise said. "Bro, you should have spoken for the both of us. Don't worry, my mate and I will be too busy for her and her pranks." Kaden smiled.
"Ewww." I said, backing away from them and going to my closet. "You shouldn't talk about that with me. Gross."
"Oh shut up. That's how you're alive right now." Kaden exclaimed as Louise smiled.
Both of my brothers haven't met their mates yet. But I hope they find them soon because I know they will be very lucky to have my wonderful brothers as mates.
I changed and came out to find Louise on the bed waiting for me. Even though I casted a spell on the guards to make it look like I was a maid. My family still took precautions. So one of my brothers would accompany me to the training ground. Today it was Louise.
"Louise, I'm sorry about bringing up the topic of your mate." I exclaimed. My brothers may not show it but they are sad about not finding their mates yet, especially Louise. He would become king soon and he would need someone to rule by his side.
"You don't have to apologise every time we talk about my mate." He paused and gave me a sorry look. "Besides you're the one who found out your mate is the prince of darkness yesterday. How do you feel about that?"
I really didn't want to talk about that. I thought my mate would be like the ones in the books. A knight in shining armour or my prince charming but not a devil. "I guess I don't know but I'm just disappointed that I won't have the kind of love that I read in books." I replied honestly.
He grabbed my shoulder and gave me a side hug. "Don't worry. I'm very sure your mate will give you much more love than the ones in the books you read." I smiled.
I decided to change the topic of discussion. "So what is mother planning for your ball?" I asked. It was Louise's birthday in three days and as usual, my mother was planning a ball for her wonderful prince. Louise was her favourite. "Well, she is planning on inviting all packs including the Black Hearts pack." He said. "What? No!" i exclaimed in disbelief. "For what reason?" I asked. "It's their future king's birthday and Father wants to use this ball as an opportunity to talk the Black Heart's pack out of their plan to destroy the Yellow Stone pack and other packs." he answered.
"Why are you asking anyway? You're not thinking of doing something again, are you?"
It isn't my fault. How can there be a ball in the castle and they expect me not to sneak out?
Every year I try to sneak out to the ball but I never succeed. Last time I made it to the doors of the ballroom but I was caught by a guard. Whenever there is a ball, the guards are ordered to look out for me but this year will be different.
"Oh no. Why would you ask that?" I asked innocently. "Oh please, I know all about your attempts to attend the balls that have taken place since you were sixteen." He answered. "It really isn't fair," I whined.
We reached the training ground and I saw Kaden waiting for us. We took our wolf forms and started practicing. I made sure I did very well. After practice, Louise said that I've improved. Kaden nodded in agreement. Before we went to our chambers I decided to start executing my plan. "I need your help with something." I said to them.
"What is it?" Louise asked. "Anything." Kaden said. "I would like to attend this year's ball." I replied. "You know mother would never agree and I don't support this." Louise said.
"Yes! Finally, I will be able to show off my sister to my friends. I always wanted to talk about my siblings too." Kaden said. I smiled at that. "I really want to go. Besides, we all know mother would agree to anything Louise says." I said. I turned to Louise and said "Please just this once. I promise to do well in training and not always support Kaden when you guys are arguing. I can take care of myself you both know that. Please Louise."
He looked at me and I had a pleading look on my face. He looked at Kaden who was just smiling and nodding his head. He sighed and said "Okay I will talk to mother...." I smiled and did a high five with Kaden "...but if she says "no", I won't push her."
"I'm going to the ball." I said excitedly. "Mother hasn't said "yes"," Louise said.
"Yet." I added "Besides if you are on my side I won't have a hard time convincing mother."
Kaden accompanied me to my room. All he kept talking about was how he would introduce me to his friends. I told Kate about it and she was also excited. I took my bath and had my breakfast. I got dressed and went to the library. I was smiling when I said "Good morning grandma." "Good morning dear. What is it that you are in a good mood today?" Grandma asked. "I am always in a good mood grandma." I replied. "Yes but today is different. What is it?"
"I am going to the ball." I said excited. "What? Oh, no young lady. You are not going anywhere." She said. "Please grandma. If it's for my safety, I can protect myself you know that and I will be on my best behavior." I said.
"I'm still not convinced."
"Grandma I almost ran away yesterday. If......if you don't let me go I will take the form of one of the guards and run away." I said with a serious face.
Grandma had a scared look on her face. "Don't even think about it. What makes you think Thea will agree?" she asked.
"I've got that covered. Louise is backing me up." Grandma smiled. "I need you to please help Louise when he is with mother." I pleaded. "Okay. Now that we are done talking about that..." she said as she kept a book in front of me ".... you should learn about the prophecy. This is the book that contains all the prophecies."
I smiled and started reading the book. As I was reading it I noticed that a page was missing, I asked grandma about it and she said "Oh. Someone broke in many years ago. We believe that they know about you and may come for you, that's why you have to train every day even though we can and will protect you, we want you to be able to protect yourself."
In the history section, there has always been a book that I wanted to read badly. It is red in color and has a lock on it. The lock may look simple but don't judge a book by its cover.
When I was done with the book of prophecies I asked grandma if I could read it and she said "I can't open the book and even if I do I won't let you read it." She said. Grandma always says knowledge is power. I was curious because grandma never had stopped me from any book in the library, so what is so special about this one?
"Why can't you open it, grandma? How can it be opened?"
"The information it contains is very important. A sacrifice must be made to open it. Someone must die."
