After eating that amazing breakfast, the family head out to the so-called Tower. While they were walking on the stone road, Lucras decided to ask some questions that had been bugging him to the system. 'Hey, system I got to ask, do you have a preferred name, because you seem to be a whole person, and not just some computer?'
A light blue screen appeared again, accompanied with a gentle voice, [I am guessing you are talking about me, right? Then you are somewhat correct in thinking I am a person, as I am a soul inside of the system. I am given some directives that I created to keep you safe, but besides that I am free to do what I want. And as for a name, I don't really have one as I have never needed it.]
After a moment of thinking about names, thinking about all the other stories he had read to pick some more uncommon name, he decided, 'Then how about Ava?'
The screen disappeared for a moment, before coming back accompanied by a intrigued voice, [Ok, sounds better compared to all the other names you could have chosen…]
Hurt slightly by her comment, Lucras replied, 'First of all. Ouch! Do you really doubt my naming ability so much? And secondly, I will then call you by the lovely amazing name of Ava, and I will make it resound in all the lands because of how amazing it is. You just wait!'
Giggling then rang through his mind, that then becoming more distant and quiet, before finally it completely disappeared. Lucras tried to ask more questions, like where Ava was from or more information about his current stats, but he got nothing in response.
As the group traveled across town, and with Lucras not being able to talk to Ava anymore, he started to appreciate the sprawling scenery around him. Even though the road was made of small loose-looking stone, it wasn't actually a bad walking surface as the small stones seemed to be glued to the ground.
Wind passed by him, a crisp cold breeze that felt so clean, that would have never been found in his old world. The wind felt calming as he took a deep breath, with all that had happened in the past few hours this breeze helped him as he was slightly shocked from all that happened.
In between houses, there were small spaces where nature was bountiful and thrived. Some contained with just some small trees and some with bushes and flowers. Some just contained some glass, but even just grass looked relaxing as it looked weirdly soft as it danced in the wind. Flashes of different feelings passed through his mind as he looked at the dancing grass, not knowing why he felt that way, as he didn't remember anything important about grass.
He felt like he had changed in some way, but he didn't know what had. Originally, he noticed that he adapted to the world quicker than his past self would be able to. Plus these flashes of emotions about an object that he has no attachment to scared him. And no matter how much he asked Ava why this was happening, she remained silent, which just left him to theorize on his own about what was happening to him.
As theories ran through his head, and counter evidence proved some wrong, he started to develop a headache from to much thinking. Theories and theories bloomed in his mind, but since he couldn't prove any of his theories or maybe paranoid thoughts, he decided to put it in the back of his brain for now. Something more important was about to happen and he decided that he needed to focus on that.
The family had arrived at the Tower, and the Tower truly lived up to its name. It was a 10 story stone brick building, with a wide base that didn't shrink in width all the way to the top. As he approached the tower, in the shimmer of the new sun, he saw what seemed like symbols and lines all across the tower, with these lines sparkling in the morning sun. At the very top of the tower, was a window that was surrounded by what seemed like ice and more of those simmering lines. Glistening in the sun, the window seemed to release strange gasses that shimmered and float toward the symbols around the tower.
As Lucras came closer to the tower, he noticed a large group of people waiting ahead of the family. The group in front of them mainly consisted of teens that looked around his age, some with adults around a group of kids, most likely the parents of the teens. As he looked around he noticed that a lot of them had brown and black hair that contrasted with his family.
As the family moved closer to the large group of people which were most likely waiting to register, a group of three kids and a lady moved toward the Lucras's family. This other family seemed familiar with his family and looked relieved to see Lucras's family.
It was then a slightly panicked voice rang out in Lucras's head as a screen appeared, [Quick, just say what I tell you to say. Your ghostly friend isn't strong enough to talk yet, and it seems that whatever is about to happen will require more than just him influencing your feelings.]
Shocked by this new screen that popped up randomly, Lucras questioned, 'Wait! So many questions! I have a ghost!? Where? Why? Who is it?
Is he the reason that I have been getting these random emotions and have been relatively more calm in these stressful situations you put me in?'
He quickly found out that she was ignoring him again, and realized that he really needed to find a way to get around that. As the other family got closer, he started to stress as he realized that one of the chipper brown haired kids was looking directly at him. Not in a hostile way, but like an excited friend that wanted to drop all the secrets they heard recently.
Running over, the kid excitingly asked, "Hey Lucras, are you excited for the final assessment?"
A screen appeared before him, as the hurried voice of Ava rang inside his head, [Quickly say, 'Sorta, slightly stressed cause I don't know if I fully recovered yet.']
Staring at this kid, Lucras took in his face. As the kid looked around his age with more of a chubby body that seemed full of energy, brown hair that was clean cut didn't block his sparking red eyes. Looking bored to his his thoughts, Lucras demanded, 'No, not until you answer some questions!'
A screen hastily popped up as Ava grumbled, [Fine, I'll answer them after this, but you need to answer Vient before he suspect anything]
Seeing Ava cooperate for once, Lucras thought, 'Great, also I'll keep his name in mind now.'
Looking into Vient eyes, Lucras mimicked the look of 'everything is fine', as he replied, "Sorta, slightly stressed cause I don't know if I fully recovered yet."
Vient seeing Lucras finally respond, and with that stress mask he knows so well, decided to help his best friend as he replied, "Ah, I am sure you are fine, and also the accident shouldn't affect your score today, maybe if this was a physical test, but the magical assessment shouldn't be affected."
Another screen popped up, and thankfully Lucras noticed that others couldn't see, that explained the next steep, [Say, 'I know, but still, I don't know I will be able to perform my best in the assessment.']
Parroting what the screen said, Lucras explained in a mimicked worried tone, "I know, but still, I don't know I will be able to perform my best in the assessment."
Seeing his buddy worried, Vient tired to motivate Lucras as he excitingly told him, "Ah, don't worry, this is just the beginning of our adventures, as we make our names resonate through the 3 lands. Everyone will know of Vient and Lucras, and our amazing adventures."
Another screen appeared and thankfully gave Lucras something to look forward to as Ava explained, [Say, "I am going to go back to talk to my sister, her time will be in 2 years and I want to get her excited about it."]
Parroting in a relieved voice, Lucras said, "I am going to go back to talk to my sister, her time will be in 2 years and I want to get her excited about it."
Seeing his friend deflect, Vient announced in a regal tone, "Ok fine, enjoy yourself o' selfless one"
After that wonderful conversation, Lucras hurriedly walked back to his sister, and tried to get her to talk with him to save him from Vient. As he tried to talk, he decide to get his answers from Ava.
