Chereads / Total War System: Stuck between DC and Marvel / Chapter 22 - 22 Becoming Famous

Chapter 22 - 22 Becoming Famous

Another six months passed by and Mark had only one year left to reach the +C-Class level which proved to be harder than he thought. Besides his CQC skills he also trained the Mana Arrows he received which proved to also increase his lethality but it was hard for him to train it when he gets lethargic every time his Mana gets drained.

And even if it regenerates it was not fast enough for him to train the skill every day that's why he just leaves it as his last routine in everyday training. He also had to give more specific instructions to the two skeletons who were now given authority to handle the Beastmen slaves. He had the Golem act as guard to the two who now somehow learnt to communicate to him through thoughts.

Even if they can only say simple words Mark understood the general idea of what they meant. Thus he had the Ungors and Gors learn to make things which somehow lessened their ferocity. The Beastwomen were great learners as they were gentle and somehow cooperative, the males were mostly ordered to do menial tasks.

The Townsfolk also became somewhat of fanatics to him as they wrote the teachings he says into a book. Mark fears that they might also create a cult about him but he doesn't mind. The power of belief here is so powerful that it made some mortal men into Gods, except for Ranaald who tricked a goddess into letting him drink her tears.

Mark had three customers since then but most were just either rich people who like to collect weird things as he mostly displayed mostly were cold weapons. One of them though was a bow enthusiast who loved one of the bow he got from the Beastmen who said it looked like a real deal ancient primitive bow. He sold it for $50,000 which somehow the person readily agreed.

He didn't even notice Mark calling him by his real name at their first encounter as he was so busy staring at the bow displayed in the wall. While the others made Mark aware the rumors of him being the Shop Keeper was circulated in the DC and Marvel Underground societies. He noticed this when one of the Rich men called him Shop Keeper after he called his full name in their first meeting.

"No one ever knew my real name Shop Keeper, only you who sees all can know of it. I have spent my whole life in hiding of my real identity to avoid enemies but you knew the first moment we met. Don Moriano did indeed speak true of you being a devil, if possible I could buy what he received back then Shop Keeper." said the rich man. Mark was confused but he remembered the Drug Lord who he received 30 million from. It has been a few days in their world but he already built a reputation, it might be useful one day.

"I see, but it is not fated yet to you young one. Only the one that compels you is one that you should buy. What he received back then was fated to be and if it is not yet your time then it would not be." Mark said some total nonsense but the rich man looked like he was convinced of his bullshit.

"But there is none that compels me." The rich man said but then he had a good idea.

"I will buy information then." The rich man felt like this was a great idea as he landed a jackpot.

"Information?" Mark was skeptical but he still nodded anyways.

"Yes, information. A friend of mine invited me to help him take down an enemy corporation of his own company. Where the owner recently died so there would be no one there to hold the other hungry people at bay. There are a lot of competition but the profits we could get are tempting. But I don't know if there would be consequences, so should I help him?" the Rich man said. Mark somehow related this to what he saw last time where Bruce Wayne's parents got killed.

It may have been a long time for him but it was just a few weeks for their world, Mark knew that there were a lot of people who went after Wayne Enterprises before Bruce took over and some of those ill intended individuals were still there even when he took his seat.

"Don't go after Wayne's Enterprises, Gotham is no place for you." Mark said as he felt this was the case seeing the shock of the man's face.

"You knew?" the rich man was flabbergasted.

"I'll be taking twenty million for that and also remember to steer clear from Gotham. Don't even stay there as an ancient darkness lurks within the city itself, this will be only for you and you shall not speak of this to anyone . Is that clear?" Mark made his eyes glow as using Mana Arrows made him have a feel of making Man run through his body. This has no uses other than making his vision clear as 4K but no zoom or anything, yet this still looked magical and mystic to his customers.

The rich man nodded which made him disappear instantly from his place returning towards his last known location. He also heard the last thing Mark said before he vanished which was.

"I'll know and I'll find you if you did." that made him promise himself not to tell what he just heard from the Shop Keeper. He also received the notification from the bank that he transferred 20 million to an anonymous account in Switzerland. But he knew the Shop Keeper was the one who did it, he heard of these before but experiencing it made him wonder how he does it.

Meanwhile Mark was grinning from ear to ear seeing 200,000 gold coins being added to his money. He had been making a small laboratory for himself as he knew there would be many mysteries in this world and experimenting is crucial for him to understand some of those. All he needed was notes of various places which he could gain in abundance in one place.

Castle Drachenfels, the place of Constant Drachenfels the Enchanter. An immortal being who lived for over 15,000 years and has mastered every magic there is in this world. He was a member of an ancient tribe of squat and brutish ebings which he now compared to apes in the coast of Araby. Old and sick he was abandoned to die but he learned of a power he had by murdering a passing tribesmen.

He was able to take the life inside of his victim and make it his own. He had over the years survived by making a body amalgamated from the parts of his victims and change it once it was rotten and worn out. He had repeated the process over and over again that he had survived and managed to develop his magical abilities to the highest level.

He had some respect towards the chaos gods but never showed any allegiances to them as he considers himself superior from these "Undisciplined Amateurs". Only he dared call the Chaos Gods 'amateurs', he is a being with a very large sense of Pride. He calls himself an Eternal Champion of Evil, the darkness who would not be defied.

Such megalomania was very toxic but Mark planned to kill him because he would be a variable to many defeats of the many battles in the end times. He is an unstable factor that he needed to destroy but he knew he would need the powers of a god to do that. It would still be centuries until his attack in Parravon which Mark found necessary to happen.

Even if it would be the death of many he knew it was an event which will birth the vampire heroine Genevieve Dieudonne. He knew her tragic fate which he could prevent but by doing so he was not sure if he would earn the attention of Kairos Fateweaver. A kind of sorcerer supreme who could see the past and future, yet was a servant of Chaos.

He knew his presence here must have alerted him but the system said that they have no knowledge of where he is so even if the future change they couldn't use scryers to look for him. Mark felt there were so many OP bad guys here that it was not funny at all, he has to rethink everything to make sure their eyes wouldn't look here.

Being a famous warrior already would put eyes on him but that was all they could see, a warrior who defeated a beastmen warherd. He knew spies of Drachenfels and even Neferata would try to go here and learn about him. That is why the gradual hypnotism of the townsfolk to turn them into a secular type of people. The walls and the fortification was to prevent prying eyes into learning more about him, all they would learn would be from the stories being told by bards.
