Chapter 23 - 23 Foundations for the future

Mark had the whole town remade where there is a public and private places where only certain people were allowed. One year and three months was enough for him to instill the secular ways to their minds. It is cruel playing with their lives but having beings that kick children just for the laugh of it, existing here makes Mark a bit paranoid.

Maybe he would get along with Bruce and Nick Fury with this brooding over every dangerous thing. Mark smiled as stood in his balcony watching the training of the teenagers and adults in the public square he had made. The Minotaur now also hypnotized was also training there, Mark did it cause since the beast is sentient then it could also be manipulated.

It might be tainted by Chaos but if it couldn't think of them or pray to them then the Chaos gods couldn't look into the place. He also made the villagers forget about them and make them also forget the information should people talk about it to them. His skill could even hide from the System so how could the Chaos gods then.

He knew it would not be forever but it was necessary to make them not put attention to this place. Nurgle might as Mark made sanitary changes in the town to ensure sickness was at the minimum but all he'll see is a very clean place to infect. Mark made preparation also for pandemics by buying various equipment for these types of situations.

Also his quest in making his Backyard has reached a 14% progress as Mark also had the people catch bugs, spiders, Bees, worms and even ants to introduce into the environment. The rabbits did indeed burst populations which Mark decreased by having the beastmen hunt it until it was brought back into a 100,000 in numbers. He had the meat be fed to the townsfolk who also grew into mostly muscular men and even the women grew fit as Mark taught more feminine Martial Arts to them.

He also introduced various training equipment like wing chun dummies and even various weapons which Mark said to be from Cathay which was this worlds equivalent to China. So seeing a town of Martial Artist is still not out of place as they could just say it was an ancient practice from a land far far away.

Also Mark learned the Location of the town which was indeed in the borders of Mousillon and Lyonesse. But from what he knew in the future this place would be taken by Lyonesse as this was a bit north of castle Rachard which would be the future Border of Mousillon. Thankfully Mark doesn't have to be part of this place once it would be brought to ruin by Duke Merovech in the Future.

He doesn't want to deal with the nobles here in the future too, but there had indeed been knights sent here by some higher nobles to ask for his services in various cliché reasons for being their own Lord being awesome and that yada yada bunch of bullshit. But Mark refused which made some mad but he disciplined them by telling them if they could defeat him barehanded in close quarters then he might reconsider.

This also became a trend as many knights and nobles went to challenge him for the past year. Around fourteen has tried to fight him but they all were defeated easily with taichi, one did give him a hard time but Muai Thai showed his ass a good beating. This was good PR and at least people only know him to be a recluse expert not wanting to involve in politics.

He knew there were already many spies in the outer part of town as many people flock to place to settle seeing a great fighter was said to live here. People still look for safety primarily in this world as they felt scared of the fact monsters roam the land. But a place where a Beastmen Warherd was defeated feels safe for them. Mark put old man Hans into handling the outer part of town.

He had made the sewers of the town expand outwards into at least two kilometers in radius. He knew this town would develop but he should control it so as not to have too much people to handle. He had the people that wanted to earn a piece of land be screened by him. Knowing how to hypnotize people meant getting to know the general behavior as well as being able to tell the differences in facial expressions.

There were some he intentionally let through as not to make the people who sent the spies alerted at his strictness. He now has at least seven people here that could be spies from various groups. One of them was someone who he was waiting for, a beautiful lady which Mark knew was a vampire sent by the first vampire herself.

But he mostly gave them lands or properties near the exterior part as they mostly introduced themselves as merchants, shop owners and occupations that tend to be useful in information gathering. The townsfolk also seem to understand that they were going for a recluse type of village which they gladly adopted as they now have blind faith towards Mark.

They have seen many things that they thought was proof Mark was something of a divine being. His knowledge and lessons shared to them was now being cherished inside a book an elder of the town made. Also being supplied by abundant rabbit meat and vegetables by Mark made most of the men burly while some even felt they grew taller.

The people trying to get a property thought the men here were like bronze warriors screaming strength in their physique. Some got to see a glimpse of the training they do which started a rumor about being them gifted with gigantic strength. Some wandering knights even tried to compete with pure brawn but were surprised at the strength shown by the people here.

Soon a rumor about the Sunset Fist school has traveled along the populace, many wanted to settle here but mostly were denied by the Local Lord who was said to be the Sunset Fist himself. As most people near here were mostly the lowlifes of people of Brettonnia. Only a few dared to go here as they too had comfortable lives in their places. Most who go to this place were just warriors or knights that wanted to witness the prowess of this local legend.

Many did come to challenge Mark which became a hassle but was solve by having them fight the self-proclaimed students of the Sunset Fist. It was then a tale spread of a town of recluse warriors whose only focus is to train and become a living weapon. Many nobles heard of this and sent more men to poach these warriors but none accepted, further cementing the rumor of the people there not wanting to join any politics of the nobles.

Some were offended and leaving the town spewing threats but Mark didn't care. From what he can tell it was just a few low level nobles, not much of a threat. Only those above Viscount were of any enough influence to make trouble but those families has their own people that are famous. From Grail Knights up to Mages that were sent to the Empire to study.

So his defeating a Bray shaman would only put him at their level if they only rely on rumors. No one was able to tell that the Minotaur had become a Bloodbull during the battle which was a danger only heroic men could probably take on. A being blessed by a chaos god is no easy feat to fight, Mark felt it as he was battling the Minotaur. Voices were in his head speaking and making want to commit atrocities, his years of self-control were what held him back from breaking down.

He knew that to fight such beings he must also make the people of this town into strong minded people, thus he also introduced some mental challenges in their training. Though it would make some of them numb to some things and won't be the honest men they used to be. Mark knew it was necessary, it's all because he was scared and fearful of the thought that many horrors exist here in this world.

One was the being he said before, Constant Drachenfels. That was a twisted being deep to the bone, he would find victims to play with and find being evil as an art form. Even Nagash looked cute in comparison when he was a future incarnate of the wind of death magic. Even without memories he still find ways to cause trouble, he was like an evil Charles Xavier combined with the evil Doctor Strange. Mind controlling sadistic magical being with a wide knowledge of this worlds magic old and new.

Mark was even questioning his sanity for targeting the being, but he knew he was not undefeated. This being was routed and felled by Sigmar himself during his time uniting the tribes of men in which creating the Empire. A powerful man Sigmar was but he was mortal then which meant Drachenfels was not an unbeatable being. A castle full of knowledge was just very tempting, but Mark must lay down many things first before even pointing his sword towards that place.
