It's been a week since Eliott's brother's death. And here in Boston Emma has become a little bit lonely. But something is not right, she can feel it in her guts. When every night she goes out for a walk, or sky-gazing she certainly feels someone following her.
Though the man puts his stealth mood on, still she notices. And there is this black SUV parked outside her office all day long. Even though she called the police, both times before the police arrived the SUV disappeared. She reported a file and also noted the car's number. According to the police, there is no such car registered after the number.
On the other hand, Elliot is not answering her calls. She tried to contact with him all the possible, but it was all in vain. "I swear, if it's all about the kiss he is ignoring me, I will kick his ass," Emma says to herself.
She just finished her dinner and thought of strolling in the streets a little.
Today she didn't feel insecure as no one was following her. She chose the park near her home. She returned and at her doorstep, there was a gift box.
She wondered who left it there. She took it inside. She thought it could be Elliot, so she gave him a call. Voila! This time it rang. But a high-pitched sweet voice picked up the call.
"Whello?" It asked.
What she guessed could be Cassie.
"Well, hello Cassie! Is Eliott near somewhere? Tell him it's Emma."
"Oo you are Emma!" she stops and runs towards somewhere, "Idiot! Idiot! It's the girl you like on the phone!"
"What?"
"It's the girl you like on the phone! Emma!"
"WHAT! Give that thing, you little punk! You are not getting dessert tonight!"
"I'll tell Dad." said so Cassie may be storming somewhere.
Emma heard a sigh.
"You didn't tell her?" Emma asks.
"No, I couldn't. she asked me though. I lied. And believe it hurts more, lying." Elliot says, "And don't believe a word she says, please!"
"Oh, I don't have to take her words to come up with a conclusion."
"Oh, Thanks!"
"Cause I know," Emma says as she unwraps the box. There was another box inside.
Elliot chuckles, "I am thinking of bringing her to the States, there are some formalities, we will be back when it's done."
"That would be great!"
She opens the lid and there lies a note.
"Always look before you leap, Jellyfish. They are watching you."
She gasps a little. Eyes focused on the paper.
Jellyfish? No one called her with such a nickname. But it feels like she knows who called her that. Again, the same face emerges and this time as if it spoke. Like a memory. She got scared and her phone slipped from her hand.
On the other side, Elliot kept calling by her name.
"Emma! Emma! Are you there, hello?"
It's like pin-drop silence everywhere. She swears she heard her balcony door slide open and then the lights go off. She stifled a scream and ran towards her storeroom.
"Emma!"
"Someone's in the house." she trembles while whispering it through the phone.
"What?"
"I am hiding in the storeroom."
"Look, don't panic. Call the police."
"Hmm," she swallows a lump.
She calls 911.
"This is a 911 emergency. How can I help you?"
"Someone sneaked into my house and cut off power. I am currently in my storeroom hiding."
"Okay, ma'am. Don't panic stay calm-"
"I heard footsteps. Oh my god! He is downstairs."
"Is he armed?"
Emma moves a little to see if he has any weapon with him or not. When the mop beside her falls with a thud.
"Shit!" she curses when a pair of hands open the storeroom door.
The man signals her to cut off the call, and shows him the gun, in case she doesn't do it.
"Oh! I am so sorry, It's my friend. H-He wanted to surprise me. Sorry."
"It's okay ma'am." She cuts the call.
Emma being Emma, hits him with a bucket. The man winces in pain. When she turns to run, the man grabs her ankle and pulls her, she kicks the man's hand and struggles to free her. He pins her to the ground pulls out a gun and says, "You did wrong going back home."
"Leave me!" she shouts as she struggles, "What have I done!"
"You shouldn't have been there. Freeman will not let you slip. You have to come with me."
"What are you talking about?! Fuck off. I am not going anywhere." she takes the chance and kicks him. He fell to the sides. She got up, but the man blocked her way. He went to grab her again when she grabbed his hand and twisted it making his gun fall. The man strangled her, but every time she successfully blocked all his punches. She was so shocked though she never learned to fight.
At last, her reflexes let her jump and kick him and throw the vase near him. The man fell. When she went to him and pulled off the mask.
"You still got it?" The man said while panting.
It was dark but suddenly the backup light turned on.
"THE MAN FROM THE DREAM?!"
"From the dream?" Shawn says as he checks the injury on his forehead.
"You are the guy I kept seeing but has no freaking idea!"
"Hold on before you throw another vase, I am here to help you."
This time she grabs the knife from the table.
"Put it down. I am not the threat you are facing. It's - GET DOWN"
Before Emma could figure out what has happened bullets rains through the glass.
Shawn pushes her onto the ground, shielding her.
