Chapter 45 - Shopping

We arrived at the clothes shop that I mentioned before. It's actually in the shopping and not like a single store out on the street. The mall is called OneCity Mall, partly because it's only open in one city. We enter the mall and the cold temperature instantly hit us at 22.8 degrees Celsius. My body is shivering with coldness, I rub my hands to make them warm and place them on my skin to transfer the warmness but it's just temporary! I look at Rebecca and am stunned that she looks fine like it's normal for her.

"Aren't you cold, Becca? I'm fricking cold right now! If I know we gonna come here, I'm sure will bring a jacket." Why does the mall have to set its temperature so low? Do they want to freeze people or something?

"Hmm? Oh, you know I'm Canadian, so I'm used to cold temperatures like this. In fact, this coldness is nothing to Canadians like me! Living in a country like that do brings benefits... sometimes." She says with pride in her country. You're really something else, you know?

Without wasting any more time, I ignore the cold and go to the clothes store to buy her clothes. The store is on the second floor which is the fashion floor according to the map. Because we don't want to waste time, we use an elevator to go to the second floor. I press the up arrow button, it lights up, and wait. The number shown above the elevator door is three which means that it comes from the third floor.

It takes a few seconds for the elevator to arrive, the door opens, there're no people inside, and we get inside it. I press the number two button on the right side of the door, it lights up, and the door closes. Now, we're standing and waiting for it to arrive on the second floor. Along the way, she asks me if I want to buy something too while we're at the mall. "I don't know..."

I think about it later. For now, the elevator has arrived and the door opens. We step out of it and walk to the place. Since I'm the one who suggests it, I have to lead the way and she needs to follow me. I make sure that she's not distracted by the makeup, bags, and perfumes sections since I notice that her eyes are wandering around like crazy. She's a woman, so of course, she'll be interested in something like this.

But, if I'm at the front, who's keeping her undistracted? Well, I am, I hold her hand and drag her till we arrive at the store. Everyone looks at us and wonders, what the hell is going on? I assume they think like that because I would. I shouldn't do it though because we not dating and hold hands are not in the description of friendship.

When we're at the front of the shop, I apologize for holding her hand when I shouldn't, and next time, I'll try not to. I think she's not expecting it based on her shocked face. "No, don't worry about that. I'm okay with you holding my hand and I feel great, actually! It feels warm when you did it. I like it!" She smiles after assuring me that I didn't do anything wrong. Thank God! I thought I have messed up.

Confirming that everything is fine, we enter the shop. The shop's name is Hippo, don't ask me why. Inside it is full of clothes from different kinds of materials, types, seasons, etc. It also divides it into two genders, male and female, areas. The female is on the right side while the male is on the left side. But, the female area takes up to 70 percent of the whole store, leaving only a small percentage for men with a limited choice of fashion. Huh, I guess inequality is true.

Just kidding! I know why it's because women usually buy a lot of clothes than men, making the store owner expand his/her business more to the feminine side. But, men also need to buy clothes too, so he/she can't just 'delete' the men's section. Thus, leave the store in a state like this. I don't know if I'm right, I made the statement based on my logic only, so don't judge me.

She looks around if can find anything she likes. She's interested in some clothes and with the help of the store clerk, she takes a few of them and goes to try them in the changing room. I wait outside it and lean to the wall, waiting for her.

"What're you doing outside? Get in! I want a man's opinion on my clothes." She put her head out between the door.

"I can't do that! This is changing room for women, I'm a man if you don't know." Sarcasm.

"Don't be such a p*ssy! No one inside just gets in!"

"How can there be no one!? What is this place!? GAAAH!" She pulls me inside with the speed of lightning. For a second there, I see everything moving so fast, my eyes can't keep up with that speed!

Inside it is a room with benches and in front of them are three changing rooms, closed by red curtains. "Sit." She tells me. She gets inside the middle one and closes the curtain. Why do I have to be here? What if someone enters the room and sees me, a man, inside, sitting on the bench?

Then, the curtain opens, and she gets out with the new clothes. She wears a plaid dress with a black dress(?) underneath, giving off a completely different vibe from before. "So, what do you think? Should I take this? I think it looks good on me." Oh God, this question! This is a trap question. Don't give your opinion, just agree with her because she already decides to buy this dress. Your opinion doesn't matter.

"Yeah, you look good! You should take it." It really looks good on her, though. "Really!? I'll take it, then. Wait here, I still have some more." She then gets in again. The same thing repeats four times, showing five clothes, and ending up buying three clothes. After she's done paying for her clothes, we exit the mall without stopping at any store as it starts getting late and I need to cook dinner for Erika at home.

We go on our own way as she's not spending a night at my house anymore. We each take taxis and go home.
