"Big bro, why're you went out so long? You're lucky that Rebecca-nee san left some leftovers from the dinner yesterday in the fridge. So, when I went back from school, you were not at home and didn't inform me anything about you getting back late." She says with a cool tone but an angry sound that only I can sense it. It's terrifying!
"I'm so sorry! I completely forgot to inform you. But, I also didn't expect her to suddenly ask me to buy clothes. So... yeah, I'm sorry." I go home and instantly get scolded by Erika for getting home late. Yeah, I deserve that.
Then, I go to the kitchen to prepare dinner for us. Tonight's dinner is nothing special, I cook what I usually make for dinner every day. Even she's starting to feel bored by my same choice of dinner, maybe I'll make a completely different food in the future just... don't know when. Soon, I hope.
After we've done with dinner, I do my routine after dinner. No need to say what is it, you know already. She goes to her room and closes the door. *Sigh* Now, how do I tell her about tomorrow? Tomorrow is the day I'll leave for the convention in Tokyo, I may have to stay there for a couple of days. Lately, I always went somewhere and came home late, almost every day. I need to compensate for my time with Erika and maybe bring her on a vacation.
Hmm, if I remember correctly, next week should be a school holiday for whatever reason. I can use this time to bring her to wherever she wants! Okay, not wherever. I don't have that much money. Maybe, somewhere in Japan.
For that, I need to talk with her about the vacation. Moreover, I also need to inform her about the convention tomorrow and I don't think that's the only thing we gonna talk about.
I walk upstairs to her room, standing right in front of her door, and I feel nervous right now. *Gulp* *Knock* *Knock* "Yeah?" She asks. "Can I come in? I need to talk to you about something."
"Okay, come in." She allows. So, I twist the doorknob, and the door opens. I see her at the table, studying or doing homework with a desk lamp that illuminates the books. I notice a 1.5L bottle of water sitting next to her and its top is covered by a lid. I guess she needs to stay hydrated for hours of studying in her room. Ooh, so that's why I never see her in the kitchen at night! She already prepared everything she needs. Also, I see a bunch of snacks in front of her.
"So, what do you want to talk about, big bro?" She asks while still focusing on the books.
"Um, I think it's better if we can talk face-to-face without any distractions." I say.
"Fine." She puts down her pen, gets up from her sit, walks to the bed, and sits. I guess we gonna talk on the bed again, then. I sit on the bed too, next to her.
"Okay, what I want to talk about is tomorrow morning, I have to go to Tokyo for a convention with Rena and I may have to stay there for a couple of days. I tell you this to see if you can stay alone at the house or if you have other options. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner."
She's not saying anything and looks like she's processing the information to come out with the perfect answer. I'm waiting. "Oh, it's okay. I used to you always leave the house and me alone for hours. I guess for a couple of days is probably fine. But, I think I want to stay at Rina's house as long as you're not home because I surely will feel bored when I'm alone. Furthermore, I also need to teach her a few subjects that she is weak in. Kill two birds with one stone."
"Hmm, I guess that's okay since you're not gonna be alone and having a friend by your side will make you spend more time bonding together. But, is she okay with you staying at her house? Or specifically, Ayaka-san's permission?"
"I'm sure she's okay because one time, she asks me if I want to stay a night at her house when you were busy with the project but since I had no valid reason to do so, I told her maybe next time and I think tomorrow is the best time as Ayaka-nee is given a day off for an unknown reason."
I guess it's decided, then. But, hold on the second, lately, I always find her free from work and whenever I ask the reason, she always told me that her boss gave her time off work and other people will fill the gap as long as she's not working. Isn't that sound oddly suspicious? It's like her boss tries to tell her something but what is it?
"Now that the topic is done, I want to talk about something else. Uh, you see, Erika, you know that I'm always not at home, it means that the time we spend together as a sibling only happens from time to time. So, to compensate for it, I want to take you on a vacation next week! Next week is the school holiday, right? What do you think?" I suggest.
"Hmm, it's right that next week is the school holiday but where are we going? We can't just go wherever I want because I know that you don't have that much money. Is it going to be inside or outside of the country?" She asks.
"...Yeah, I know. So, we'll just go anywhere you want inside the country!" I do have enough money but that money is for emergencies only in case of something terrible happens to me or Erika. So, we've come prepared to face whatever happens in the future.
"I guess it's decided that we'll go on a vacation next week but for the matter of where I don't know yet. I'll tell you when I get one. Is that all, big bro?" She asks. Yeah, that's all, for now. I guess she wants me to get out of her room because she wants to continue where she lefts off on studying based on what happened last time when she pushed me outside. I don't want to experience that ever again! So, I left the room willingly to avoid her.
