Chapter 219 - Last Breath

"Aaaaah! Sneaky rat! Bastard!" cried out the butcher as the blade of an axe hacking through his shoulder brought him to his knees.

Sillion tried to retrieve the weapon by putting his feet against the spine of his fallen foe but it was completely stuck.

"Not so fast! I'll show you what happens when the prey dares to fight back!" grunted the butcher as he gripped the head of the axe, not caring for the cuts he was inflicting on his fingers.

The noble decided to give up on the axe on just kicked the back of the butcher head, sending him tumbling forward as he readied himself for another attack.

Before the maniac could fully get up, three bolts struck him in the back, which didn't deter him as he jumped to his feet, spinning around and brutally removing the axe from his shoulder, causing a river of blood to flow from it.

He didn't care as he raised his cleaver in the air, doing so effortlessly in spite of his mangled shoulder.

"I'll show you how to properly cut someone apart!" he grinned maniacally as he wound up an attack and stumbled forward, ready to put all of his weight into it, mysteriously, without Sillion noticing the exact time it happened, the room lit up once more without any clear source for the light.

He, however, had the time to load one more bolt however, shooting it at the butcher's foot, causing him to lose his momentum and allowing the noble to move to the side as he reached down to pull the cumbersome addition to his foot out.

The noble heir was going to leave him any time to breath though, without wasting anytime, he went behind a lump of meat and kicked it with everything he had, pushing it forward and making it crash into the butcher, putting him to the ground again.

Seeing how quickly the butcher was going to recover as he still managed to remove the bolt impairing him, Sillion didn't feel confident that his reload speed would be sufficient and he instead lunged for the bloodied axe laying on the ground.

He got back up, hearing the footsteps and grunts of the maniac, he raised the axe defensively as he saw something coming his way.

The decapitated head of the thin one, their head blocked his sight and caught his attention for a moment.

The butcher was close, Sillion was in range of his cleaver.

Unable to gauge anything, he blindly swung the axe, hitting the butcher wasn't difficult but wat mattered was if the strike would be enough to stop him from splitting the noble's skull in two.

Sillion didn't hit any part of the butcher at all.

He instead, struck against of the long nails protruding from the handle of the cleaver and the butcher's right hand, the attack broke one of the nails off and made the butcher growling as he stepped back, losing balance and looking at his hand, the attack had been rough, moving the nails through his wounds and causing much more pain than anything he had grown used to experiencing.

Without further hesitation, Sillion raised the axe again and brought it down onto the butcher's skull, digging halfway through it, a bit off to the side and in a diagonal.

The wood of the handle cracked loudly as it broke into pieces, leaving the noble with just part of the handle while the rest was stuck in the butcher's skull.

"How the hell-" Sillion couldn't help but blurt out as he saw that the man was still not going down, already seeing him charging in for some more.

"Why won't you die?!" the noble shouted in annoyance as he charged as well, surprising the butcher who didn't expect him to do the same, plunging the broken handle through his guts before he could bring his cleaver down.

The seemingly unkillable butcher didn't falter and brought the cleaver down anyways, completely ignoring the fact that a good bit of his guts had been completely ruptured.

Sillion strained his muscles as he stopped the wrist holding the cleaver with his left hand and unsheated his dagger with his right, starting to repeatedly stab the butcher in the side, not stopping even when his whole body shook as he struck bones directly.

The butcher gargled up some blood as he tried to say something, starting to choke the noble with his free hand, with strength unbefitting of someone losing so much blood.

"You can't escape now" spat the butcher through his gritted, bloody teeth as he clenched harder.

"F... Fuck you" a barely audible noise came out of Sillion's throat a he stopped his relentless stabbing.

The butcher smiled a he thought that his little rat had finally breathed his last but when he looked into his eyes, he saw them wide open before the rat made sudden movement.

The butcher let go of him without noticing as he only saw darkness for a few seconds, his whole body shuddered without stop and he started walking in the other direction, his extremities felt as if thousands of ants were crawling under his skin.

He looked down at his hands and saw more hands and fingers than there should be.

Sillion loudly coughed as he struggled to catch his breath with both hands against the ground.

"Ah... By the gods..." he said, feeling some puke coming along as well while the butcher wandered around aimlessly, having seemingly completely forgotten were he was or what he had been doing.

After composing himself, the noble stood on his two feet and then picked up the nail that had been broken off earlier, casually walking over to the butcher who was bumbling around.

"It's not our fault... We never could have expected this..." he was mumbling some nonsense to himself, in a tone that was completely different from before.

"I am sorry..." he added but it didn't stop Sillion from finishing the job.

While the initial strike from the axe had had seemingly little effect, when the noble had pushed up against the axe head still stuck in the butcher's skull, it had completely opened it up.

Splitting the brain into two distinct part.

Resulting in what was happening now.

Sillion simply drove the nail into the butcher's exposed brain, spelling his end and prompting his last words.

Hearing this, Sillion froze up as he looked down, the butcher's plopped down lifelessly as the walls started to melt down.

"Silvon..." hushered the butcher.
