Chapter 218 - Pspspsps

*Apparitions of -REDACTED- are now gone, safety is at arms reach* notified the system but Sillion was too busy holding onto one of the pieces of meat dangling from the ceiling, almost hiding inside of its open ribcage as the butcher ran through a nearby door, opening it with a loud clang.

"I know you're here! I can smell you... Arhg!" the noble slowly brought himself down from his hiding spot as he heard the butcher's voice growing more distant.

Unlike before, it seemed like this area had more options, there were three doors leading in different directions in the room he was in.

He avoided the one the butcher had taken and instead opted for one of the others, the choice was simple since one was locked.

Sillion carefully made his way inside, looking intently at each corner of the room before truly stepping in, the room was incredibly similar to the one before, lumps of meat hanging from the ceiling and the same room temperature, freezing.

Sillion looked at one of the hanging pieces of meat, he had no clue what it could be but at least, it didn't look humanoid.

He looked aroundn there were yet again multiple doors but he felt anxious as he noticed that only one was open, if this went any longer, it would be no different than if he was in a dead end.

Still, he pushed on until he arrived in yet another, nearly identical room, however this time, one the thing hanging from the ceiling moved, this one was covered by a bag, like others before.

He thus couldn't see what was inside but he didn't take any chance and quickly approached it, taking hold of his dagger and stabbing it throught the bag until it stopped moving.

Sillion saw some blood dripping down on the ground and waited a few moments before opening the bag to take a look.

It was an extremely thin man, his head was wrapped in some sort of mettalic strings with spiky protuberance all along its length.

Sillion remembered some of those when approaching the town, they had been put on top of the walls, most likely to deter anyone thinking about climbing them.

The man's expression wasn't one of pain as one could have expected from a corpse that had recently been stabbed to death, it was completely neutral, as if he hadn't noticed anything even as he bled out.

Sillion was quite freaked out by this, so he just closed the bag back up and went on his way, checking each of the door one by one, the first one opened but he wanted to make sure whether it was the only one allowing passage.

As he had guessed, only a single door wasn't locked, he had tried to force the other open but it simply amounted to nothing, the doors were heavy and mettalic, they didn't even budge a little bit.

He was about to head for the unlocked one when he started hearing two sets of footsteps, one from where he had come from and one from where he been intending to go to.

Without hesitation, he leapt over a table and quickly made his way behind a bunch of crates and wooden pallets, where he lied down and covered himself up with an empty bag.

He had been just fast enough, a second later, the two people that had been closing in on his position entered the room, from the back, the butcher was here, he must have searched the entirety of the place he had gone to, in so little time it at least indicated that Sillion was in the right direction.

If the masochistic butcher was already there, it meant that the other way had been a dead end.

On the other side, it was another of those thin men, it might actually have been a woman this time but Sillion couldn't tell from his position, that person didn't much indications either as they just made gasping sounds.

The thin one was dragging a double-headed axe on the ground, stumbling into the room with it and seemingly not taking in anything they saw unlike the butcher, who quickly noticed the blood dripping from the bag.

He went over to it as the other one bumped into the meat, seemingly not noticing anything as they moved around randomly, only noticing the existence of the obstacles once they hit them, which didn't stop them from bumping into the same things multiple time.

"Blood, bloody! The rat is cornered, its baring its fangs!" muttered the butcher, sounding ecstatic as he pulled the corpse out of the bag for no reason as he didn't do anything with it.

"He's here... He's right around here!" the butcher managed to deduce this fact much to Sillion's shame, without wasting any second, the butcher started barricading the room, learning from his past mistakes, despite the fact that the noble was certain that the butcher hadn't realised anything back then.

Soon enough, the noble heir was locked inside of this incredibly cold room with two people that definitely wanted his death, one armed with a self-harming cleaver and the other with a double axe.

He had to take action, he knew that if he was getting out of here, it was as the only survivor of the three.

He sneakily raised his right arm, aiming at the ceiling, were a cluster of mana crystal giving light were put in a line formation.

Shooting a single shot, the bolt broke the center of it and everything else came down with it, drowning the place in darkness, the butcher laughed like a maniac while the other just continued gasping for air like nothing had happened.

The butcher kept turning around, cleaver slightly raised, ready to act at whatever he could, as he bumped into the lumps of meat, he attacked them by reflex as he heard sound all around the place, things falling, the sound something swingings and the constant gasping of the other one.

The gasping soon stopped, following by the sound of something falling to the ground, the butcher tried making his way over there but he didn't have to as he felt something rushing toward him, he grabbed the head of the one and with a quick chop, he beheaded it.

Raising the head in the air, letting the blood pouring onto his face and into his open mouth.

"Arr! Disgusting!" he spat as he realised this wasn't the taste of a rat.

In his confusion and anger, he failed to notice that something had crept up behind his back.
