"Huuh" Iustus wasn't certain what he was supposed to do there.
His first idea was to just add the numbers on each piece of paper to make four numbers but it couldn't be it, the lock only had a choice going from one to nine for each of the four mechanisms on the lock.
It would work for three of them but not for the one with one and nine written on it, so it simply wasn't the right answer.
"19, 44, 35 and 42..." he muttered under his breath, pacing around the room as he repeated the numbers over and over again, trying to make sense of it all.
Not managing to find a clear answer, he just tried a few things, putting in only the first numbers of each piece of papers, then the second, trying to alternate between the two and attempting multiple orders for over ten minutes but it was clear that this wouldn't work.
Watching over him as he thought about this enigma, stood the three masked men.
"What a freaking idiot, he totally misunderstood how things should be read!" remarked the bag head, sounding quite amused at the sight of Iustus walking around the room without stop.
"This poor soul was born with lesser brain that his fellows, let me simply end his suffering" spoke the masked man with black decorations, not sounding sympathetic at all, almost singing his sentence with his voice that incredibly deep voice, also known as GAJ
"He simply made the wrong assumption at first, he chose to view them in a correct light, simply not the right one for his situation, he can still make it, it just needs to click, he only needs to change his perspective" calmly spoke the one with red decorations, also known as GMJ.
"Give him time" he added afterward.
Iustus indeed needed time, after re-reading the papers over and over again, an idea suddenly sprouted in his mind and immediately, he felt like cold water washed over him, he just felt like that was right.
19, 44, 35 and 42, each of those had a certain number that he thought, could indicate something and if he was right, then the purpose of the other one was obvious.
Grabbing the lock, Iustus turned the first circular mechanism until it was put on 'nine', for the second one, he turned until reaching 'four', as for the third one, he put it to 'five' and for the fourth and final one, he rotated the mechanism to 'four', then he let go of the lock and waited for something to occur.
A few seconds went by and for a moment, he believed it was yet another fluke.
But quickly, the sound of something clicking was heard and the lock fell to the ground right before the chains slipped off as well onto the floor.
Opening the closet at last, he was a bit perplexed by what he saw, he was faced with some long, wooden object, he wasn't certain what it was for a few moments.
But scanning the room again for a quick moment and it was fairly clear where it was supposed to go.
Walking over to the table, he knelt down and pushed it up a bit as he looked for something, quickly finding something that seemed like a cavity that was the perfect size for what he had found, he put it in and it took a bit of force but it went in perfectly.
Just like with the lock, it appeared as though nothing had happened at all but suddenly, the sound of something falling right onto the table was heard, in surprise, Iustus bumped his head on against the table as he tried to stand up.
He could have sworn he heard someone laugh their ass off for a moment but he just shrugged it off and put his attention to the box that was now on the table.
It was pretty small, easily carriable in one hand and it seemed to have an inbuilt lock consisting of various symbols, animals and items for the most part.
'This box seems familiar somehow...' thought the young hero as he inspected every nook and cranny of the box.
He looked around again and after doing some digging around the mess he had put everywhere by removing the paintings from the walls and peeling off the wallpaper, he found out where this impression of déjà vu was coming from.
The portrait of one of the little girls was holding this exact same box, however it was already opened, displaying the answer to the lock.
Actually, it did not show it in full as the girl was covering the last one with her fingers but that was no problem, only one unknown was easily surmontable, as such, after a few tries, the box opened.
Revealing a straight razor with a blade that definitely seemed incredibly sharp.
For once, he immediately knew what do to with what he had been given for he had thought about it but lacked the mean necessary to accomplish it.
He made his way to the sofa and grabbed one of the seatings he had let down on the ground, the moment he approached the blade from it, he felt the movement of dozens, perhaps hundreds of bugs inside of it, he let go of the seating reflexively as he shivered from the idea of having so many bugs just storming out and crawling all over him.
Still, he exhaled deeply and quickly slashed the first seating and as expected, a whole ecosystem of bugs came crawling out, running around the place like headless chickens before they inexplicably vanished alltogether, one moment they filled the room with sound and literally and the next, they were all gone.
Iustus proceeded with the other seatings as well as anything else on the sofa that seemed to have some filling and the same thing repeated each time.
Iustus searched inside of the spots he slashed and one of them contained a small key, apart from the all of the substance that was probably a mass of bug excrement and other ejections.
He looked over at the one locked drawer and walked over to it, putting the key in and turning it.
