Chapter 93 - Crystal Clear

Gazing down upon a scene of utter violence, the action were reflected into the glass-like shards that formed a somewhat round shape were his eyes coud be expected to be.

The Crystalian was standing fully in sight of everyone, atop his crystal tower, dressed in grey uniform that took from many other uniforms from the nearby continent but didn't ressemble any more than another.

Behind his back, a grey cape fluttered in the wind as he stood with his back arched backward, taking an unusual but dominant pose with his closed crystal-covered fists resting against his hips.

The crystals covering him were purplish and highly reflective of life, apart from the eyes of shattered glass, no other features were represented on his face, everything else was but the rough and uneven surface of crystals.

Seeing the lead actress entering into the tower by elegantly ramming through wall head first, he placed a hand on the hilt of a saber strapped to his waist and stood straight as he plced himself opposite to the stairs leading to the top of the tower.

He spent a few seconds placing himself in a certain way before awaiting his enemy's arrival.

Ignoring the sound of his followers getting slaughtered, he stood as still as a statue.

It didn't take long for the rabid high elf to show herself, covered in the blood of others, a longsword tied around her waist and a spear in hand, which seemed to still have someone's guts stuck to the blade.

"Congratulations for getting so far!" exclaimed The Crystalian in a voice as raspy as his looks.

"We finally face, I, the noble savior of the lesser elves and you, butcherer of the weak, this will-" blocking the hit with a wall of crystal in an instant, the glass shards that served as eyes frowned as the area where his mouth should be somewhat moved as though it was soft rather than rough.

"Whoa! You won't even let me do my speech?! This is my moment for crying out loud!" he pushed the high elf away with other walls of crystal.

The mouth area cracked and opened up, revealing a maw full of white crystals certainly representing teeth as he pointed at the mad elf, unsheating a saber of purplish crystal, the same kind of material used by the lesser elves.

"You are a nightmare! I was going to explain to you why slaughtering a population made you villains but you just can't help but crave the death of others, do you?" he spoke as he brought his hand to his forehead and mimicking someone fainting.

"I am shocked Alamanthienne! I thought you would at least listen to me!" he added afterwards as spikes of crystals formed in the air behind him.

The three otherworlders had chosen to not go up the stairs and left the rabid elf to go by herself.

A good decision as the whole top of the tower was blasted by crystal projectiles, raining from the sky, denting the ground and completely destroying the stairs leading up.

"Don't speak as though you know me! I'll put your head on a spike alongside all of the other vermin!" growled Alamanthienne as a bright light manifested around her, the symbol of the high elves, their species specific magic element, high elven magic.

All species had the potential to possess a magic type named after them but few could awaken and develop it as easily as the high elves.

Acting similarly to light magic, everything was bathed in radiance as a beam was shot forward at The Crystalian in the form of a light barrier, leaving him no choice other than to try and block the attack at the best of his ability.

Species specific magic was peculiar and didn't always behave the same, when it came to elements with the word dragon added to them, on top of meaning that the element was stronger when used by a dragon and being a notch ahead the regular element in general, it was also severely more effective against dragons in general.

Creating this strange cycle where dragon hunters searched to gain the powers of dragons to hunt them better.

In the case of high elven magic, when used against other high elves, it generally had the opposite effect, it was much less effective and may even have a completely different effect than what was intended by the caster.

As demonstrated by The Crystalian as he got out of the attack completely unhurt, the attack had instead been treated as a gift of mana as the pruplish crystals shone with elven light.

"I can, in fact, speak as though I know you Alamanthienne, all high elves know your name and how you are, in case you haven't noticed, not all high elves are for the slaughter of the lesser elves on this island, that is why there are still so many of them here, the ones that want to eradicate them are a minority, many want to leave them alone, most doesn't see any reason to go out of their way to deal with them if they aren't doing anything wrong..."

"Few wishes to see them gone forever, you have much less support than you think Alamanthienne!"

"You seem a bit shaken, is the fact that a high elf would be aiding the lesser elves so foreign to you?" the rabid elf was frozen in place, completely flabbergasted and unable to react as a crystal pillar struck her in the chest, launching her straight off the tower.

The Crystalian walked up the border of the tower and looked down.

"This showdown is a bit boring don't you think? Learn to use high elven magic against a fellow and then fight me again! I know for a fact that you would be the only one unwilling to forge an alliance with the lesser elves..."

"You are the strongest however, so this little dispute between elven people shall be settled when either of us bites the dust, I am magnanimous, aren't I?" The Crystalian laughed in his raspy voice before surrounding himself in crystal and disappearing.
