This place reeked of nothing in particular, the cold breeze free to travel through the wide halls, seeping through the various cracks in the sturdy stone surfaces.
Only a few select spots were granted light for no one would or could light up the candles meant to do so, only the natural light breaching through gaps in the ceiling was shining light in this desolate place of worship.
Featuring no imagery of who or what used to be worshipped, the artefacts had since long been taken away or stolen, everything of worth was gone, leaving only the building itself, not even a single furniture was to be found inside.
Only pale, grey stone and rubbles, even animals, bugs or monsters visited this place for it was desolation and nothing else.
Today however, two living beings were present inside of this forsaken construction.
A slightly taller than average young woman with her somewhat purplish hair tied in a ponytail, she was walking without paying much attention to the ruins around her and carrying a heavy, spiked club on the end of it on her shoulder.
The other one was a dashing young man with long, flowing blond hair and green eyes that were strangely reminiscent of those of a snake, fittingly, a large snake was resting on his shoulders as he sat down on a large piece of the fallen ceiling, a light was casted down on him as though he was a character in a theater play.
"I wasn't expecting you to actually come out, why did you want to meet up in this suspicious place?" asked the woman, admiring her club as she spoke up to the man, who wasn't carrying any weapon even though he was wearing an armor.
"Unlike you Ilmna, I always do some researches before acting and I thus decided to dig up some records to try and find out what the sins were up to before being sins, leading me to this place" revealed the blond man as he pointed to a dark hallway behind him, not seeming very panicked but the gesture made the woman frown and ready her club.
"What did you find out?" she continued speaking normally, acting as though her attention wasn't laid on the dark hallway.
"I found out that a certain priestess was excommunicated from here and would have probably been judged were it not for this place falling in shambles for not apparent reason" the snake slid around the man's body as he stood up, taking his distance with the dark hallway.
"Because of multiple assaults on male saints, the saints here were supposed to remain virgins and apparently, it was quite brutal even if the records that I read weren't very specific and didn't even provide a description of the priestess but I think you can guess which sin this could be" he went and stood next to Ilmna.
"Of course, it is clear..."
"You mean Pride right? She's dressed like a priestess!" the man and the snake looked at the heroine with genuine confusion.
"Ilmna..." coughed the snake eyed man.
"I meant Lust, you know, assaulting virgin saints and all?" he said slowly.
"Are you certain? If this place was so serious about virginity and such, I don't see how she could have even become a priestess here"
"Well, you aren't speaking nonsense but I think they would have at least mentioned if the priestess in question was taller than two meters and built like a war chariot, at least I hope so..." spoke the blond man as he crossed his arms in wonder.
"Anyways, are we just gonna stand there and act as if everything is normal or do something, Milleral?" uttered the heroine.
"I was hoping that they would chose to show themselves or leave the other way but it seems like we are in the way" remarked Milleral as his snake slide down his right arm, coiling around it before resting its head in his palm and shifting into a spear with a flamberge-like blade.
"By the way, I was also hoping to talk about other topics, such as the black knights but I guess it will have to wait" he added as the sound of footsteps came from the ambient darkness of the hallway.
Stepping out was a woman with red hair and wearing a long blue coat, a metal spike of some sort driven through her left eye.
Milleral frowned and Ilmna raised an eyebrow.
"That doesn't look like Pride..." she said and the man beside her turned toward her.
"Goddamnit Ilmna! Do you ever inform yourself? That's Wrath and we're in shit at neck level!" he spat.
"Oh, I did hear that she was hot shit..." muttered the heroine.
"I would usually oblige your will to fight me but I am in a hurry, don't try to fight me and I shall not kill you" spoke the sin as she took a few steps forward.
"You will?" asked the snake eyed man.
"I will"
"..."
"You don't think we have a chance?" questionned the goedendag wielder.
"I think there is no chance of living in any case, let her through-"
Interrupting his sentence, a loud noise sounded throughout the whole area as something heavy landed on the piece of rubble Milleral had been sitted upon a few minutes prior.
Emerging out of the dust as it cleared, a not so flamboyant knight appeared, pointing his longsword at the sin after a few unnecessary movements in the air.
"Do not fret heroes! Against the three of us combined, this devil stands no chance, you two and I, Sir Dieuril!" he exclaimed in an outlandish manner.
"I would usually never point my sword at a la- Where is she?" Wrath had disappeared while he was too busy giving his speech.
"Aw shucks! She is swift!" he exclaimed in the same tone as he looked around but she was completely gone.
The knight, Sir Dieuril as he called himself wasn't as bright as his booming voice made him seem, his armor was beaten up and seemed even melted, it wouldn't surprise Milleral if he was unable to get it off.
Apart from that, he stood like a true noble knight and expressed himself as one would expect from a typical goody two shoes knight.
"It would appear that I caused the devil to flee! My apologies!" apparently, he always spoke in this manner, in or out of combat.
"I can't believe I could make such a rookie mistake when so many look up to me!" he tightened his fist while looking up at the hole in the ceiling, from which he had come from.
"Many look up to you? Are supposed to be famous?" asked Ilmna.
"Of course! I am Sir Dieuril!" that's all he said, as though expecting them to recognise him.
"..."
"It would seem that the younger generations have never heard of me!" he said boastfully, still keeping his tone.
"Let us work together heroes and take down the evil spires of madness that are the sins! Let us break the people free from this endless cycle of torment and suffering! We shall slay the darkness and bring back the light!"
"What-"
"Yeah! Let's do that!" Ilmna joined in, leaving Milleral with his mouth agape.
