Chapter 73 - Dea - 2

"This is my world" monologued the vampire as her wounds were now fully healed.

With this ability activated, she could clearly see all living beings around, there bodies being the red structures that could be seen in the dark void all around Dea.

Only she could move and think in this dimension and while she couldn't interact with objects and people, she could interact with one thing, the pulsating red lines represented the nervous system of living beings.

In this dimension, her hits would inflict much more pain than normal even though the nervous system would remain unharmed, all of the pain inflicted upon something would be felt all at once after she would release her ability.

This was how she had killed Layo, she had died from sheer shock due to pain.

"This is the ultimate power, undetectable even by those directly a victim of it, I can even hide from the sun inside of it and move to another position"

"You won't even know what killed you!" exclaimed Dea as she prepared to strike, she couldn't keep on speaking as her time within this dimension wasn't unlimited.

The only downsides to this ability was that she couldn't see where things were apart from living beings, if she happened to be in the same spot as something else, the part of her within the item would be crushed no matter what type of object it was.

She couldn't change her altitude when using the ability either, useful if she wanted to get past a broken bridge but if the terrain was bumpy, she might end up with no feet when it ended.

Here, it wasn't a problem, the ground was flat and nothing was in the way.

She sent a flurry of punches toward Molarine, enhancing her strikes with blood to make sure she wouldn't come out of it alive.

Certain of her victory, Dea turned her back to the nervous system as the world came back to normal.

"Your death was even more pathetic than your-" her victory monologue was rudely interrupted by a punch getting straight through her spine and ejecting her unbeating heart through the front.

The assailant swung their arms, making Dea spin around and see clearly who had just done that.

"How do you live?! At the very least, you should be unconscious!" remarked the vampire as she found herself looking at a very much alive Molarine, never had she ever encountered someone capable of enduring just an amount of pain.

Rather, she had never expected to meet someone else capable of it.

'Impossible, unless she was completely unable to feel pain, she should have died! My dimension of pain completely ignore pain reduction skills and such!'

"I see that your ability has to do with pain and that you seemingly teleported" casually remarled the pugilist.

Without wasting any more time, Dea recalled her dimension of pain, her nervous system was clearly pulsating in a bright red color, nothing indicated that she should be able to resist or ignore the pain.

'Did she just... Take it?' was it possible for a human to naturally endure such a level of pain without the aid of any skill or ability?

Dea concentrated her attacks on her joints and positioned herself behind Molarine, ready to skewer her with her claws the moment her ability was released.

'I'll just send some of my blood inside of her, just like with the other' she thought as she launched her attack, perfectly timed to hit as the world regained its features.

Her attacks only scratched the air however, Molarine moved forward without any hesitation, undetered by the supposed pain plaguing her joints and seemingly certain that Dea would attack from behind.

"How?! Are you conscious during it?" asked Dea, enraged at the prospect that Molarine was capable of ignoring her ultimate move.

"Who knows? I don't have any clue what your talking about Dea" responded the human.

The two of them stood at a standstill for a few moments, Molarine looking as stoic as ever while Dea fumed.

If her dimension of pain was going to be ineffective against Molarine, she would simply do things the old fashioned way.

She remored her jacket and ripped off the sleeves of her shirt up to her elbows as her veins popped up as she circulated some blood throughout her body and into the air, forming disks of blood that rapidly hardened and began spinning faster and faster.

Dea sent half of the ten disks she made flying away, out of sight and sent the other five at her opponent directly, closely following after them.

Instead of facing her head on, Molarine moved back, knocking the feeble towers down as she went, collapsing them onto the pursuing disk and raising covers of dust at the same occasion.

Dea didn't lose track of her life signature as the disks she had sent flying off into the distance prepared stop the pugilist right in her track.

They had gathered much more speed than the first five and would come at various angles toward Molarine, leaving no room to dodge, she would have to either get hit or to try and destroy them, either way, Dea was convinced that she wouldn't be able to dodge her claws in the process.

The five disks slashed through the air, two threatening her legs, one her neck, another her lower spine and the last one, coming straight from above.

Molarine chose to knock them out of the air, it seemed like she would be able to do just that as Dea thrusted her right hand right at her heart, whatever Molarine did right now, she would have to get hit in full by something.

The pugilist didn't seem very concerned however, in fact, Dea saw that she had a slight smile on her face.

The vampire had been utterly focused on the pugilist after her ultimate move had been of no use against her.

She had forgotten to pay attention to the swordswoman and she paid thaat negligence by having her right arm sliced cleanly off, canceling her attack and allowing Molarine to focus on the disks instead.

Emitting a beastial noise of pure anger, Dea struck Molbas with her other arm, audibly shattering more than a few bones in the process.

Once again, she had paid given too much of her attention to a single thing and immediately had to pay the price as a punch collided with her face and then a hundred more struck all over her body.

Despite her potent regeneration, she looked like some puppet whose joints were loose, the damage was going to accumulate beyond what she could regenerate if she couldn't stop it.

As another punch was about to strike, the world lost its color and only red lights remained as he shattered body fell to the ground like bloody slime.

'That was close, I need to get out of here...' the vampire managed to regenerate an arm to drag herself away, she wouldn't die from such things but if she was beaten to a pulp, it was unknown whether or not she would be able to avoid the sunrise at all.

Looking back, she noticed that instead of simply being a nervous system, Molarine was forming into her full body.

Dea couldn't tell if it was because she had managed to break past her ability or if it was her state that allowed such a thing to happen but she had to hurry.

____________________

When her ability was released, the vampire was nowhere to be seen.

Molarine remembered shortly awakening in a dark world but couldn't tell if it had been reality at all.

What was true however, was that only she and Laura had survived the fight, Dea's blood weakened and vanished after she disappeared, leaving Laura alive, although severely crippled.

The mission to eliminate Dea had ended as a failure.
