After hours of interviews with the victim's family, friends, and business associates, Jack had compiled a list of potential suspects. The husband had been their prime suspect at the start, But as Jack dug deeper, he found that the husband had a solid alibi for the night of the murder. He had been at a work conference in a neighboring city, and several colleagues confirmed his whereabouts.
Jack shared his concerns with Alex, who agreed to help him keep an eye on the husband. They followed him discreetly, trying to blend in with the crowds on the busy streets of the city.
They tailed the husband discreetly, following him to his workplace and back to his home. He seemed to be going about his daily routine.
One night, Jack and Alex followed the husband to a bar on the outskirts of town. Jack watched from a distance as the husband entered the bar.
Alex gestured for Jack to follow him as he made his way into the bar. Jack felt uneasy as they walked in, looking towards the sign it happened to be a gay bar, considering his wife had just passed it was suspicious.
They took a seat at a booth near the back of the bar and watched as the husband downed shot after shot of whiskey.
"What do you think he's doing here?" Alex leaned over and whispered.
"I don't know," Jack replied. "..I have a feeling it's not just for a drink."
They watched as the husband struck up a conversation with the bartender before one individual who seemed to be familiar with him sat on the stool next to the husband. Jack strained to listen in, but he couldn't make out what they were saying.
''Let's get a bit closer'' Alex suggested and moved before Jack answered.
''Hey!'' Jack tried to grab Alex from going over there. It was dangerous for Jack to get too close considering the Husband had seen Jack before.
Alex gave Jack a reassuring smile and approached the bar, pretending to be interested in the drinks menu towards the edge of the bar. Jack was next to him keeping an eye on the husband and his companion.
As they got closer, Jack was finally able to hear their conversation. The man was helping the husband with some kind of mutual favor, and they seemed to have a history together. But then the man's tone changed, and he began to talk about the husband's wife, the victim.
"She got what she deserved," the man spat out, his eyes flashing with anger.
The husband nodded in agreement, a look of gratitude on his face. Jack's heart sank as he realized that the husband may have been involved in his wife's murder after all.
The two men were looking like they were getting ready to leave
"Let's get out of here," Jack whispered to Alex.
"Wait" Alex said as he turned to Jack. He noticed a few people staring at them and the two men were needing to walk in their direction.
Alex grabbed Jack by the collar and pushed himself towards him, kissing him with such passion.
Jack's body responded before his brain, although he wasn't sure what happened he wanted nothing more than to pull Alex against him and never let go again. When he was about to move his hand to cover Alex's waist Alex spoke between kisses.
"What if they see you, it will blow your cover." Alex whispered back.
Jack pulled away and looked around the bar. The two men had gone, and he glanced back at Alex, wanting to kiss him again.
"I needed to create a diversion." Alex replied with a sly grin. ''Why wanting more?''
Jack and Alex left the bar and made their way outside.
Jack shook his head and pulled out a cigarette. "You're something else, you know that?" he said, trying to hide the fact that his heart was still racing from the kiss.
He lit his cigarette and took a deep drag.
Alex sighed and he watched Jack take a deep drag before exhaling smoke. "..Im wanting more" he whispered.
Jack smiled to himself, his mind wandering off to the kiss. He hadn't gotten laid in awhile, and although he'd had a couple of trysts in the past, none of them had been satisfying whether it be male or female.
But now he was faced with Alex, someone that he knew he could find satisfaction with. His body was screaming at him to take the next step.
