Valeria's POV 🎉
"Here goes nothing"
"Good morning dad",I said as I got close to where he was seated and pegged him on the cheek.
"Good morning kiddo, how are you?",He said and turns to look at me and gave me a small smile. But,I noticed something. The smile he gave me didn't reach his eyes and looking at his facial expression,you could see that he's worried, more or less like bothered about something. He also looked somewhat tensed.
I took my seat opposite him by the table where I could see my breakfast being setted whereas my mom took her seat beside him .
"Dad"? ,I asked. "Yeah"? ,He responded. "Are you alright"? "Like is everything alright"?,I asked him ,a little curious .
"I'm good kiddo,c'mon enjoy your meal",he said gesturing for me to start eating ,then after he heaved a long sigh and proceeded to eat his meal. And....I did because damn! I was very hungry you know!. I intentionally skipped dinner nowadays for the purpose of maintaining my weight."Oh yes I do care a lot for my weight and shape,so I don't eat much or else I'm gonna get too fat, which I hate to be."
I took a look at dad again,then, a glance at my mom in suspicion.
I decided not to ask dad any question after,maybe after our meal we can talk."If that's what he wants". Earlier on, I decided to have my breakfast after I 've reached my office but then again dad's calling made all my plans fail.
"Ugh!" I looked at mom who just gave me a smile then continued to munch on her waffles. "Note: Mom loves Fresh Morning Waffles". I gave out a sigh and started to sip on my expresso cup of hot chocolate and munched on my pancake with lots of syrup and whipped cream." Yummy!"
Few minutes after we've finished eating, one of our households, Leticia came to collect all our dishes to the other side of the kitchen, probably to the sink.
In our mansion, we have a very large size kitchen like the size of a very large conference hall so if one is talking at the other end of the kitchen,one can't hear anything unless your get close to the person you want to talk to's cabin. "O yes" dad intentionally made it just like that.
"Ahem"!. A loud clearing of someone's throat was quite enough to bring back my attention to my parents sitting opposite the side of the table to me. I checked the time on my rolex ladies watch ,which read half past six. "Oh Lord help me! I'm freaking late." Dad should just say whatever he has to say to me and lemme leave outta here!".
Hmm!
The fact that I'm the freaking CEO doesn't mean I shouldn't be time conscious.I always made sure to be on time everyday to check on my employees ,working schedules and manage the staff.
"Umm....kiddo... "Remember I'm.. not a kid dad! . You should know by now that I'm not one so you should stop calling me one", I said to him as I folded my arms and brought it to my chest.
"Err....(sighs) my apologies dear,just that we still see you as our little girl", he said. "Yes,You'll always be our little girl",Mom continued ,looked at me and smiled which wasn't genuined. "Ugh, whatever! ,I said as I threw my hands in the air and rolled my eyes. "They never give up easily on what matters".
"As part of your birthday celebration next week," your mom and I have decided to plan a surprise for you, a very special one",dad finally spoke up.
"What?! Really?!!Wow!... that's great news!! I don't even know what to say ....,I exclaimed excitedly. Both of them nodded in agreement .
"Also,we would like you to meet someone" ,Dad suggested. "Someone?","Who?".,I asked curious to know .
"You don't know him ,but when the day comes sweetie,you will know who,"dad said. "
"Ooh..., it's a him too? But why?, I asked raising one of my eyebrows.
"Dad I don't get what you are saying clear. "
"What I'm saying is that,your mom and I will be away for a business trip for sometime,probably for six months and that "someone" is gonna take care of you",he suggested.
" O my God, dad!! Remember I'm an adult right now, I can take very good care of myself !", I said and pout.
" Sweedy we know that but we just want you to be safe whiles we are away", Mom calmly said.
"But I still don't get you" ,I said
"No need to worry dear,we wouldn't take any chances so that's our final decision to make". We just wanted to let you know and make it clear to you and the only option is to listen", dad said between gritted teeth.
"So when are you guys leaving?" I asked. "A day after your birthday," He answered
"What?!!, I exclaimed. "Like can't that trip freaking wait?!, I continued.
" We know sweetheart but it's an emergency which came up yesterday",he said. "
Hmph". !!
"Whatever!" ,I exclaimed. I checked the time on my wrist watch and my eyes widened."seven freaking thirty?!
"O my God! I'm late for work! . I immediately got up from my seat and took my bag . "Mom, Dad I need to go, see ya!, I said as I walked to where they are seated and gave each if them a kiss on the cheek and headed for the door.
"We love you blueberry,have a blissful day and take care,",They both said.
On my way outside,I called my driver, Jack, to select one of my favorite cars in the garage and drive me to work. I n less than two minutes I'm out of the mansion as we headed for the road. From my mansion to my company is only about a forty minutes drive so guess I'll soon be able to make it there safely though I'm late.
During the drive,my mind drifted off to the discussion I had with dad at the breakfast table.
Just thinking about it gives me headaches. I mean how can they just allow anyone to come take care of me whiles they are out of the country...and to top it all, I have no idea what the person looks like.
It could be a "psycho" or a good for nothing type of person" . Or? Maybe.....If could be one of dad's close friends. Yeah ...Uncle Bob.
It could be him, definitely, it has to be him .He's a good man in his late fifties and I've being under his care before so I know what I'm talking about. I always love his baked meals and his funny comments.Who wouldn't laugh when this man cracks jokes?." No ,no it has to be him or who??
