Jevan's POV 🎉
We met Marietta at the diner already setting the table.
"Oh sir, I was about to come and call you guys over ", she said as she looked up at us and blushed.
"Nevermind, besides ,we're here now", I said as I carried Nathan and put him gently on his seat beside the dining table.
"Umm...sir I made marcaroni cheese and lean beef sauce and some vegetables."here, she said as she placed two dinner plates in front of me ,took a saucepan on the burner which contained the noodles and scooped some into one plate and scooped the vegetable sauce into the other before placing the sauce beside it in a small glass bowl.
"Thanks Marie", I said. "You're welcome sir...she said smiling.
" You know, you can call me Jevan and quit calling me sir", I told her as I said a small prayer in my head and took my fork and started digging in."Damn! I'm starving". " What would you like for dinner Nate? I heard Marie asking him.
"No!,I'll eat with Uncle Jev first!, He said loud enough for even a passerby to hear.
" Oh honey you know that won't be possible for you". "Your pretty little teeth aren't strong enough to masticate noodles". I mashed some potatoes and some tender cuts chicken for you here" ,she said as she took the dish from the counter and placed it in front of Nathan.
"I will have to feed you these too, she said fake smiling at him.
All these while, Nathan was frowning and had his little arms crossed over his chest and pouting.
"I .SAID .NO!!!, Nate yelled at her. "But.....,she was about to say something but I cut her off and said," it's okay, allow him". "Lemme have his meal beside me here and leave the rest to me, I'll feed him with my noodles", I continued.
She nodded not looking at me in the face but rather at the little boy while he sends her a devilish smirk in return. "Nate? ..Hm? "
"You know it's rude to yell at someone? Please apologize to Auntie Marie now".... I said to him while looking at him .
You could really tell from his expression that he didn't want to do it but he had to do it anyway. He took a glance at me and looked back at where Marie stood washing the other dishes up in the sink .
"Um Aunty Marie?, I'm really sorry I yelled at you, please forgive me, will you?" He said in irritation yet feeling somewhat guilty.
" It's fine Nate ,I forgive you darling,but you better behave next time", she said in a not too sweet tone.
"Whatever..". I could hear Nate muttering in his baby tone as he rolled his eyes. "This boy".But it really looked clear enough that he hate Miss Marie's guts!.
"Now ..Miss Marie?"I called. "Y-yes Jevan um sir?,she responded. "After you've finish with the washing,you can leave " .
Ok sir.., I mean Jevan. I turned to Nate and started feeding him with some of my noodles. "Make sure to chew it well before you swallow ok?" Since there was food in his mouth, He only nodded and smiled to me showing of his dimples. I ruffled his hair and continued to feed him while I ate some till we were done.
By then, Marie had left so , I took the dishes to the sink and Nate helped me with the washing while standing on a long safety stool so he can't fall down.. "Clever boy". He then took a glass plate ready to clean it.
" Hey, hey ..you should be very careful handling that, alright?", I told him while looking at what he was doing.
"Ok Uncle, but remember I'm not a baby I can do this", he said confidently, then pouts. I shook my head and continued what I was doing.

Within two minutes, we were done. "Uncle Jev, can I have the ice cream now?",Nate asked pouting adorably. "Of course little one", I said as I took him off the stool and put him down to stand on his feet on the ground. I then went straight to the refrigerator,took one tub of vanilla ice cream and handed it to him. He happily took it,not forgetting to thank me and started to open it,scooping the cream and enjoying it.
"Hey, you like it?",I asked him. "O yeah I love it and I love you Uncle", he said as he gave me a hug by hugging my legs.
"I love you too little one, now let's go sit on the couch and watch some cartoons, what do you say?" I asked him.
"Yeah sure, I wanna watch "Despicable Me",he said while eating his ice cream.
"Okay let's get going now," I said as I took his hand and turned off the lights and left the kitchen.
"I hope you are done with all your assignments, little one?" , I asked him while we were watching TV. " Yep, Auntie Marie helped me with it ", he said as he scooped off the remaining of the ice cream from the tub. "Well done", I complimented him.
"But I don't like her anyway, she's mean" ,he continued to say.
"Is there a reason?" , I asked.
"Yes, she scolds me a lot when you and mummy are not around", He said frowning.
"Really?, Don't worry I'll talk to her ", I said to him. After the cartoon ended , Nathan's head was already on my lap dozing off,so I turned off the TV , carried him and took him to his room to put him to sleep on his bed.

On my way to my room, I looked up for my sister's number on my phone and called her . She made it known to me that she won't be able to come home tonight.
"Alright, take care Lillian,"I said to her. " Ok Jevan see you" ,she said and I cut the call. I went downstairs to lock all the doors before going back to my room upstairs. After I'm done with a little project on my laptop,I shut it down and headed straight to bed to sleep.
I have so much work to do from next week onwards. Mr Mel Brown my business partner wants me to babysit his all grown up daughter for six good months.
Can you believe this.
It was a deal we made. The thing is , they get to sell off half their company to me since they had gone bankrupt for a long time. Since they didn't want to be exposed to the media,they had to give half of their company to me to operate so we wouldn't expose them .
Other than that, my dad would have exposed him a long time ago and then he and his family would forever remain bankrupt. So in order to help them get back their normal lives and retain their status in the world of business, I had to help them in some aspects like agreeing to babysit their daughter for six months so they can go on business trips and attend several meetings so they won't loose their belongings.
When I lost my parents,I was told about this as I was getting older so I knew and had to adhere to the rules of the game regarding Mr Mel Brown's bankruptcy. It was a secret between my family and that of the Mel Brown's and no one else.
Before I closed my eyes,my mind drifted off to the brunette girl from earlier at restaurant today. I couldn't just keep my mind off her face . I tossed countless times on my bed just thinking about her. When I closed my eyes, is her face that I could see.
"Hmm..." Really?! "What's wrong with me!".
She's just a spoilt brat.
