Chapter 3 - Control, Ava

It's been a month since Aaron moved to New York. He bonded well with Ava, becoming best friends like their mothers. His studio also opened as he started working as an official photographer now.

It was a cloudy day, and Ava's mood was pissed, like dark clouds in the sky. She rambled about anything while working on her desktop. The meeting with the client that afternoon didn't go well, turning her mood sour. And top of that, the new manager of her team was a hot-tempered lady. She almost barked at Ava and Hayley for a little mistake in the design. It was getting too much for Ava.

She submitted her designs to her manager before shutting down her desktop. She had to leave the office earlier to get fresh before she went home. Ava couldn't handle authority over anything, and the new manager was too much to deal with. She walked up to Nate, her co-worker, and put the file on his desk.

Nate looked up at her with a startled expression. "What's wrong?" He asked her.

"Stella is the wrong thing here," Ava grumbled, throwing a glare toward her office. Nate chuckled in response.

"What did she do to piss you off?"

"Scolding me for a silly mistake." Ava rolled her eyes. "I don't want to talk about this. These are the remaining designs. If she asks for them, send the file to her. Told her I had a terrible stomach ache and I had to leave early.

"Aye-Aye Captain." Nate saluted her. Ava didn't respond to it and walked away. As she exited the building, a buzz on her phone interrupted her pace. She took out her phone and checked the message. It was Aaron.

A smile crawled up to her face. She quickly typed a response.

She pressed the sent button. Three dots appeared on the screen, and soon, his response came.

Ava sighed and leaned on the wall. Looking up at the sky, she watched the clouds gather more, and made the surroundings darker. She checked her wristwatch from time to time and waited for the familiar Marcedes to appear in front of her vision.

I cue, the vehicle stopped in front of the building. The black window rolled down, and Aaron's bright smile came into her vision.

"Hey," he motioned for her to get into the car.

Ava smiled and ran up to the car. She hopped inside and buckled her seatbelts.

"Thank God you were nearby. I thought I would sleep on the floors f the office today."

Aaron chuckled. He started the engine and soon drove down the road. The ride was silent, but it was also comforting for them. Suddenly, Ava's eyes met Aaron's, and she felt a shiver run down her spine.

"What?" she raised a brow.

"Do you want a cup of coffee?" he asked.

"Sure thing," Ava winked at him; a friendly wink which Aaron returned with a smile.

Aaron spotted a cafe and stopped the car. They left the car at the parking lot and walked into the cafe. It was a vintage-style cafe with a brown aesthetic interior. Ava's eyes sparkled up visiting the beautiful designs inside.

"Seems like someone loves the place," Aaron whispered behind her. Ava nodded her head in affirmation. They took a place beside the large glass wall and slid into the booth.

Once they got their coffee, they started to enjoy the warm beverage while talking about their day.

"I swear I hate Stella," Ava stated, a grimace crossed her face. Aaron chuckled as he found her cute.

"What's the reason, though?" He asked.

"She is impossible," Ava sighed. "She thinks of herself as a Queen. And that attitude pisses the shit outta me."

"Shh... Control Ava. What are you doing?" Aaron shushed her. Ava sighed.

"By the way, I have got a big project. I am excited to be a part of it." Aaron stirred the coffee and told about the project to her. Ava listened to him carefully. Sometimes she also showed her interest in the matter. Their time spent well in the cafe.
