'Feng Yongrui' was one of the blue robed servants. Now while it seemed like all blue robed servants were the same, there was actually a sort of rank even among the blue robed servants.
Servants who were in charge of accounting and serving Xu Chao directly were considered more prestigious and more powerful than the blue robed servants who had to clean and cook food.
...As for Feng Yongrui, his job was considered one of the lowest jobs amongst the blue robed servants.
Feng Yongrui's job was to take care of Xu Chao's animals, specifically the Shadow Stallions that were in charge of pulling Xu Chao's carriage.
Feng Yongrui felt his veins twitch and he sighed. He could understand why the other blue robed servants didn't like him.
Basically, wasn't Feng Yongrui's job... a stable boy??
His job was to take care of the Phantom Stallions.
Since this world was a fantasy one, Feng Yongrui knew that there were many strange and new animals here, animals that did not exist on Earth.
But the Phantom Stallions... Weren't they just the same as horses?
Since his job was relatively simple, the other blue robed servants probably thought he should've been an orange robed servants instead (one rank below the blue robes).
Feng Yongrui sighed yet again. No wonder... He thought about his job. Every day, he would clean the horses' stables, feed them, and make sure they were healthy... It was so simple...
"Host, are you underestimating your job??" the System cried, its voice tinged with grievances.
Feng Yongrui: ???
"Why are you the one who's sad? It's my job, not yours..." he muttered.
"Th-that, I'm the one who chose this job for you..." the System said in a small voice.
Feng Yongrui: !!!
"No wonder I got such a terrible job!" Feng Yongrui exclaimed. "As expected, you purposely chose something like that for me, huh?"
"Host, you mustn't slander me like this!!" the System whimpered, aggrieved.
"Taking care of those Phantom Stallions is an important job! Hear me out, Host, those stallions aren't like normal horses."
"Right," Feng Yongrui rolled his eyes. "They're definitely special, since they look like phantoms..."
"Host, how can you say that? You've never even seen one before," the System complained.
"Besides, you should hear me out first..."
"Phantom Stallions do look like phantoms, or ghosts. They're often used by the clans in the Phantom Realm as a steed or to pull a carriage."
"As the person in charge of the Phantom Stallions, all you need to do is brush them gently every day, feed them, and clean their stables every day. It's a fairly easy job."
"However, taking care of these animals isn't that simple. Phantom Stallions are very picky, and if they don't like someone, they won't allow that person to take care of them. In the other hand, if the Phantom Stallion likes someone, then the stallions will act all gentle and coy in front of them..."
Feng Yongrui sighed.
"Let me guess. The stallions are 'gentle and coy' with me?" Feng Yongrui asked.
"Correct, Host. Since the stallions are pretty tricky, the ones in charge of the horses wouldn't be the lowest ranked servants, but the blue-robed ones..."
"What you mean is, I shouldn't feel sad that I got this job or feel inferior to the other blue robed servants, because my job is pretty important, right?" Feng Yongrui confirmed.
"Correct, Host~~"
"...That doesn't mean I like you, though," Feng Yongrui said, deadpan.
"Host... How could you..." the System whined.
Feng Yongrui rolled his eyes and sighed. So that was that.
Now he understood the structure of the servants in the mansion...
But, how did 'Feng Yongrui' slip into the Phantom Realm without anyone finding out about his pure aura?
Feng Yongrui continued reading the information from the System.
Apparently, 'Feng Yongrui' had been given a magic artifact from Chen Tengfei before he came to the Phantom Realm. Using the information that he had, Feng Yongrui sifted through his robes and found a small, plain-looking jade pendant.
Feng Yongrui pulled out the pendant and looked at the jade. at first glance, it looked really normal. It even seemed pretty cheap. But this was, supposedly, a magic artifact.
"Host, do you still remember the spy in the main hall?" the System said.
"You mean the one who tried to kill Xu Chao?" Feng Yongrui raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, that one. Do you still remember that Xu Chao's soldiers found something when they were searching him?"
Feng Yongrui narrowed his eyes. It did seem like they found something, but Feng Yongrui couldn't see what it was at that time.
"It was a magic artifact, Host. Just like yours. Wait, actually, there's a difference."
"Oh? What difference?"
"Both you and his artifact have the same purpose: to conceal your pure aura and to display, outwardly, that you have a demonic aura. However, the spy that we saw has a better quality artifact than yours," the System explained.
Feng Yongrui: "..."
"So... my artifact doesn't have very good quality?" he asked.
"Correct, Host~~"
Feng Yongrui sucked in a cold breath. That previous spy was still exposed even though his artifact was better... How was he supposed to survive here??
Feng Yongrui sighed and put the matter aside for now. If worse comes to worst, he could just buy something from the System, right? Although, doing so would, undoubtedly, make the System ecstatic.
Feng Yongrui continued reading the information. While staying in Xu Chao's mansion for the past three months, 'Feng Yongrui', who was pretending to be a fool, had been bullied several times by the other servants.
Unfortunately, since he was pretending to be a fool, 'Feng Yongrui' would never fight back. 'Feng Yongrui' was pretending to be a Yon. The Phantom Realm was filled with numerous kinds of demonic creatures, and each of those creatures had their own unique name.
Feng Yongrui was pretending to be a Yon, which was a member of the imp family. Imps were one of the weakest and lowest demons in the Phantom Realm. Imps had shorter lifespans (compared to the other creatures of the Phantom Realm), and imps had, generally, little to no magic prowess.
The imp family was divided into several sub-families, and the Yon was one of them. The Yon was a group of imps who had weak, water-based magic prowess. 'Feng Yongrui' was posing as one of them, because 'Feng Yongrui' had water-based powers as well.
Since 'Feng Yongrui' was a Yon, and his job was considered "lowly", the other servants had no qualms about bullying him. After about a month of constant bullying, 'Feng Yongrui' happened to be rescued by Big Brother, the person Feng Yongrui had met today.
'Feng Yongrui' had, tearfully, explained his pathetic (and fake) backstory to Big Brother, claiming that he had a younger sister to take care of, so he had no choice but to work here. After all, he needed the money to buy her medicine.
Big Brother was very touched, and he took a liking to 'Feng Yongrui'. This was how Big Brother became Feng Yongrui's friend and protector.
Big Brother was a talkative and straight forward guy. His job was considered rather prestigious, because he was in charge of cleaning Xu Chao's room, and, on certain days, prepare the bath for Xu Chao.
Since he often served Xu Chao personally, the other servants often flattered him, asking him to put a good word for them in front of Xu Chao. Big Brother also had his little minions and followers, as well as a broad range of connections, so being friends with him would be beneficial for Feng Yongrui.
"Ah, Host. Don't forget to report your daily life to Chen Tengfei every week," the System suddenly said.
"Oh, right. You did mention that was my task. So, how does 'Feng Yongrui' usually do it?" Feng Yongrui asked.
"Every day, 'Feng Yongrui' will write one page filled with his details of the day. Every day of the week, 'Feng Yongrui' will write down everything he knows."
"At the end of the week, 'Feng Yongrui' will tie up all 7 papers together and send them to Chen Tengfei," the System added.
Feng Yongrui nodded his head in understanding. Based on the information... today was the fourth day of the week, so 'Feng Yongrui' must've kept 4 letters somewhere...
"Ah, Host, you do know that 'Feng Yongrui' was pretending to be a fool in Xu Chao's mansion, right? However, deep down in his heart, he's pretty arrogant, and every day when he writes about his day, he always mocks the other demonic creatures who work in Xu Chao's mansion..." the System suddenly said.
"I see... so when I write my letters, I'll have to copy 'Feng Yongrui' and belittle the other demonic creatures, right?" Feng Yongrui asked.
"Correct. This way, you will sound just like the original 'Feng Yongrui'..."
Feng Yongrui nodded and walked over to the bed. According to the System's information, 'Feng Yongrui' kept his secret letters in a hidden compartment in the bed.

If you could install a secret compartment, where would it be?
