"Hey, you Fool," Feng Yongrui felt someone bump his shoulder and walk in front of him. The speaker turned around and crossed his arms.
"Why are you standing in the way like this?" the stranger asked.
Feng Yongrui observed the other person. He was wearing a blue robe, and his skin color was slightly pale. There were several black stripes on his face, similar to that of a tiger, and when the person opened his mouth, Feng Yongrui could see rows of sharp teeth.
"I'm sorry..." Feng Yongrui trailed off. He didn't know who this person was, so it was better to be careful.
"Hey, Fool. Why did you apologize? I wasn't asking you to," the stranger said, rolling his eyes.
Feng Yongrui saw two other blue-robed servants standing behind the stranger and sighed.
Was he... being intimidated and bullied?
Feng Yongrui was still pondering hard and he didn't realize that the group of people in front of him were waiting for his reply.
Finally, the tiger-like person waved his hands in front of him, annoyed.
"Hey, Feng Yongrui! What are you spacing out for??" he growled.
Feng Yongrui looked at the tiger-guy blankly.
"Uh... Actually... forgot where my room is," he mumbled.
The tiger guy frowned. "Did you really become a Fool?? Even though I call you a Fool, you don't have to become one, you know."
The tiger guy clicked his tongue and swung his arm. Feng Yongrui felt his heart rate increase dramatically. He was going to be punched!
But! He couldn't avoid this punch! After all, he had no idea what the real 'Feng Yongrui' would do in this situation. The only thing he could do was stand still...
Feng Yongrui felt a heavy weight on his shoulder and blinked a few times. Who put their arm around him?
He looked at his side. It was the tiger guy!
"Fool, I'm telling you, you can't always be like this. This mansion is a difficult place to stay in," he began talking.
"Even I, your dear Big Brother*, still find it rather tricky to stay here. You know, there are so many rules and regulations in this place," he continued.
"Big Brother?" Feng Yongrui called out tentatively.
"Yeah, that's me. Why?"
"Uhm... where are we going?" Feng Yongrui asked.
'Big Brother' had been leading them through several corridors, and Feng Yongrui couldn't help asking where they were going.
"Of course, we're going to your room, Fool. Didn't you say you forgot where it was? I'm leading you there," he said.
"Ah... O-ok, thank you," Feng Yongrui whispered.
"Fool, what's the use of saying 'thank you'? Just don't go around causing trouble, and I'll be relieved. If you didn't have my protection, I don't know how many people would've picked on you," Big Brother clicked his tongue and sighed.
"Why did you even work in this manor anyway, huh?" he grumbled.
"Well... I..." Feng Yongrui stuttered and felt like his brain was being fried in a pan. How was he supposed to know??
"I know, I know... You've told me many times already, and I'm sick of it. You're here because you need money, because your younger sister is sick, right? Tsk. Still, you could've chosen an easier job..."
"Big Brother" stopped walking and Feng Yongrui looked at the door in front of him.
Room number 135.
"This one's your room. You still have your room key right?" Big Brother cocked an eyebrow.
Feng Yongrui nodded quickly and fumbled for the keys.
"Okay, thank's for sending me here, Big Brother," Feng Yongrui nodded at Big Brother and unlocked his door.
"Hm. Don't be a real fool, Fool. If someone is bullying you, make sure you tell me," Big Brother winked at him.
"I've got your back."
Feng Yongrui gave a polite smile and waved goodbye before entering his room and shutting the door.
After making sure the door was locked firmly, Feng Yongrui gave a deep sigh and his legs crumbled beneath him.
"What the..." he whispered.
Everything that had happened today had happened so quickly. First, Xu Chao killed a spy... Then, the System did not send him the information he needed, so he had to go around blindly without knowing what to do or say... In the end, he also met the "Big Brother" guy.
"Thankfully, nothing bad happened," Feng Yongrui muttered.
Looking back on the conversation with Big Brother, it seemed like 'Feng Yongrui' was not very smart and he was probably bullied by other servants. And... based on the encounter with Big Brother, it seemed like Big Brother was Feng Yongrui's protector of some sort.
Feng Yongrui sighed and looked at his room. He had been so nervous that he forgot to admire his room first!
The room was actually very simple. There was a wooden bed, a simple table and chair, as well as a small cupboard. It had a very minimalist design. Even the bed did not have a pillow!
"But still, these facilities aren't bad," Feng Yongrui murmured. He was initially worried that as a servant, he would have to share his room with other people.
It wasn't because he hated others, he just wanted a room for himself so that he could have some "me-time" and so that whenever he was talking with the System, no one would find out.
Also, he was a spy after all. If he shared a room with others and they became suspicious of him, it would be bad. It was better to have his own room.
Feng Yongrui pulled out the chair and sat down. He wanted to sit on the bed, but he hadn't taken a bath yet, so he didn't feel that clean.
As for taking a bath...
Feng Yongrui sighed yet again. It took him such a long time to find his room. Now, how was he supposed to find the bathroom? From the looks of it, the servants probably shared a communal bathroom somewhere, but Feng Yongrui was too tired to search for it.
"Host, you don't need to take a bath. You have magic powers, remember?" a familiar voices sounded.
Feng Yongrui: !!!
"System!" Feng Yongrui cried out loud.
Realizing his mistake, Feng Yongrui pursed his lips and called the System inside his head.
"You rascal! Where have you been, huh?" Feng Yongrui grumbled.
"Oh my, Host~ Did you miss me?" the System asked cheerfully.
Feng Yongrui gritted his teeth.
"Heh. You better tell me clearly. Where did you go? Why did you suddenly leave me? Have you gotten the information about 'Feng Yongrui'??" Feng Yongrui bombarded the System with questions.
Feng Yongrui heard the System gulping nervously.
"Hehehe, Host, calm down. I got the information you needed. I'll transfer it into your brain right away~~"
Feng Yongrui sighed. "Now that's better. Hurry, I want to know everything about him."
Beep... Beep...
Feng Yongrui felt the familiar sensation as information entered his head and he opened his eyes. He had to know what the original "Feng Yongrui" was like, so that he could act and plan accordingly.
Feng Yongrui read through the information seriously. There were several information that he didn't consider important (at least at that moment) such as his birthday, his blood type, and so on.
The original "Feng Yongrui" was a low-level immortal from the Water Clan. He had been constantly bullied as a child, and so he pretended to be a fool who did not understand anything.
Through a turn of events, "Feng Yongrui" ended up meeting Chen Tengfei. The two became good friends.
Although "Feng Yongrui" usually acted like a fool, Chen Tengfei could see that underneath that mask, "Feng Yongrui" was actually and ambitious and arrogant person.
After several years of friendship, Chen Tengfei found out about his real identity and decided to use "Feng Yongrui". After all, Chen Tengfei saw that "Feng Yongrui" was actually smart, and he was also good at pretending.
This was why Chen Tengfei sent "Feng Yongrui" to the Phantom Realm. Chen Tengfei promised "Feng Yongrui" glory and power, and since "Feng Yongrui" was actually ambitious, he did not refuse.
In the Shadow Demon's manor, "Feng Yongrui" pretended to be a fool, all while observing and learning about the Shadow Demons. He had stayed in the Phantom Manor for three months already. During those three months, 'Feng Yongrui' had observed the entire manor and its usual regulations.
There were three ranks for servants in the Shadow Demon's Manor.
There was the lowest rank, which was signified by those servants wearing orange robes. The servants who were in this rank were usually in charge of menial tasks or heavy labor, such as sweeping the floor, cleaning the toilets, and so on.
The medium ranked servants wore blue clothes. They were in charge of more difficult tasks. For example, they would be in charge of cleaning valuable items, serving and cooking the food, and taking care of the mansion.
Some of the blue clothed servants were also in charge of Xu Chao's bath (drawing the water for the bath, preparing the soaps and oils, etc). There were a few servants who were also in charge of the accounting and daily expenses in the mansion.
The highest ranked servants in the house wore black clothes. Most of them were soldiers whose job was to protect the mansion, and, of course, Xu Chao. However, there were some of them who were Xu Chao's hands and feet, in charge of doing Xu Chao's dirty deeds. Some of these black clothed servants were also the head of the accounting servants.
(If some blue robed servants were in charge of accounting, then the other black robed servants would be their mini bosses).
