"Huh. Vile creature, do you have any last words?" the Cloud Realm spy asked.
Xu Chao sighed calmly and spoke. "You must be the third prince's person, am I right? Tsk, tsk~ Is he that eager to look good in front of his Heavenly Immortal? Is that why he's going so far as to send you here?"
Once Xu Chao opened his mouth, Feng Yongrui recognized that voice as the one who had been screaming before.
"Even if he wants to send someone to assassinate me, shouldn't he put in more effort?" Xu Chao muttered, his voice laced with grievances.
"What do you --"
Before the spy could finish his sentence, Xu Chao snapped his fingers, and the spy exploded with a 'bang!'. Feng Yongrui, along with the other servants who were kneeling, trembled subconsciously at the loud noise.
Feng Yongrui un-muted the System and asked, "What was that just now?? He didn't even move, but the spy was killed just like that!"
"He was using his magic prowess to mess up the spy's powers from within, making him explode," the System explained sulkily.
"...I see."
Feng Yongrui gulped nervously and saw Xu Chao standing up with ease. Xu Chao walked closer to the guard and took the object that the guard was hiding. From his place, Feng Yongrui couldn't see it, but he saw Xu Chao look at it for a few seconds before destroying it into dust.
Xu Chao turned to face the group of kneeling servants, and Feng Yongrui quickly hid his face, not daring to look up.
His heart was filled with fear. If he failed his task... if Xu Chao found out that Feng Yongrui was a spy from the Cloud Realm... then, wouldn't it be terrible?! Would he end up just like that spy...?
Xu Chao put his hands behind his back and turned to the servant standing beside him (the one with the Saiga horns) and spoke.
"He Yi, next time you have to check the servants carefully. I don't want something like this to happen again. As for the rest of the servants, they can go back to their jobs."
He Yi bowed to Xu Chao and turned to the kneeling servants.
"The Master has spoken! All of you have been given grace! Hurry and disperse! Go back to your work!" He Yi cried.
The servants around him bowed down, and Feng Yongrui hurriedly copied their movements.
"We thank the Master!" the servants cried unanimously.
Feng Yongrui did not say anything out loud, but he lip-synced some words randomly. Anyway, even if he didn't reply, no one would find out, right?
The servants around him stood up and left very quickly, and Feng Yongrui randomly followed the person who was next to him. After all, he didn't know what the original 'Feng Yongrui' usually did.
Feng Yongrui followed the servant out of the main room and continued walking for some time.
Finally, the servant could not take it anymore and turned around.
"Feng Yongrui! What are you doing, following me like this?" the servant asked.
"Uhh..." Feng Yongrui felt like a deer caught in headlights and stumbled out a reply.
"That -- I just thought your back view looks really cool, so I unknowingly followed you. Ah, I mean, uhh...."
The servant tilted his head to the side as his expression became filled with incredulity.
"What? What is that supposed to mean??"
"M-my meaning is, uh, I'm lost," Feng Yongrui blurted out.
Feng Yongrui paid attention to the latter's expression The servant in front of him was wearing blue robes and he had a flat nose. His skin was a slightly pale blue color.
Deep inside his heart, Feng Yongrui felt like punching himself in the face. What kind of nonsense had he spouted?? He probably looked like a fool right now...
"Feng Yongrui, you've been here for three months already! How come you still don't know the way??" the servant cried exasperatedly.
"Well, I-I was so scared just now... Maybe the shock affected me too much and I forgot the road?" Feng Yongrui stammered.
He didn't know the road at all, and he didn't even know what his job was in this mansion!
The servant in front of him rolled his eyes.
"Idiot. This is why no one likes you. I'll lead you to the housing area, but that's it," the servant said.
Feng Yongrui nodded his head and muttered a hasty "thanks". However, inside his head, he was screaming at the System.
"System, shouldn't you give me the information regarding stuff like this?? You gave me lots of information about the protagonist, about this world, and so on... But you didn't give me any information about 'Feng Yongrui'! How am I supposed to survive??" Feng Yongrui hissed.
"Ah... please wait a minute, Host. Beep... Beep... Sending file --"
Feng Yongrui felt something enter his head and he quickly opened it to take a look.
"101 Things You Need To Know About Your Employer, Xu Chao"
We will begin by giving you basic information about Xu Chao. His surname is Xu, and his name is Chao. He is a member of the Shadow Demon clan and is the current head of the Shadow Demons.
He was born on the 7th date of the 5th month in the year 328. His height is... His blood type is... His ideal wife would be... His favorite color is...
"Wait, System! This isn't what I asked for!" Feng Yongrui complained as he closed the information.
"What kind of information is that?" Feng Yongrui wailed.
"System, stop playing with me. I'm afraid. I'm seriously afraid. You just saw how Xu Chao killed that spy, right? If he finds out I'm a spy, he'll definitely kill me too! Hurry and tell me everything about 'Feng Yongrui' so that I can act like him!"
"H-host, calm down..."
"I don't want to calm down! Hurry up!" Feng Yongrui roared.
"Host, please wait for a while..."
"System! System!!" Feng Yongrui hissed. However, he received no reply. He tried calling the System a few more times, but he was still ignored.
Feng Yongrui clenched his fists and stopped trying to call the System. What did he expect anyway?
Since the System wouldn't help him, then he would have to rely on himself!
Feng Yongrui focused on the servant in front of him and looked at his surroundings. The buildings were similar to ancient Chinese buildings, but there was a certain flair to it.
Most of the buildings were dark colored, but they still looked elegant nonetheless. There were several plants growing here and there, as well as flowers that bloomed beautifully.
The flowers that Feng Yongrui saw looked like roses, but the color was dark, sapphire blue, and the thorns on its stems were thicker and longer than normal roses.
Feng Yongrui saw a small butterfly fluttering near the rose. As soon as it landed on the delicate petals, the "rose" gleamed and "opened" its mouth, before swallowing the butterfly in one go.
Feng Yongrui felt his blood run cold. How scary. Not to mention Xu Chao, even the flowers in this mansion were so fierce!
The servant finally stopped walking and Feng Yongrui looked at the building in front of him. It wasn't as pretty as the previous buildings he had seen. Was this the so-called 'housing' that the servant had mentioned?
"We've reached the place," the servant said. "You still remember where your room is, right? Don't tell me you don't remember."
"Ah... I... I remember," Feng Yongrui said. Seeing the look on the servant's face, he didn't dare to say that he didn't know.
"Good. Now don't bother me anymore." After saying those words, the servant turned around and entered the building, leaving Feng Yongrui standing in front of the entrance in confusion.
Feng Yongrui gulped and entered the building cautiously. Previously, he still remembered what the servant had said.
"Idiot. This is why no one likes you".
No one liked him? Did that mean he didn't have many friends here? Feng Yongrui could not hide the confusion on his face as he entered the building. There was a main hall, where several blue-robed servants were chatting and eating in.
Feng Yongrui saw a flight of stairs and climbed up quietly. The second floor was quieter, and Feng Yongrui felt like he had entered some sort of apartment or hotel. There were many rooms, each room with its own number carved on the door.
Feng Yongrui fell silent.
Can someone please tell him which one was his room??
Feng Yongrui stared at the countless doors and noticed that each of the door had a keyhole. It was really like some sort of hotel!
Feng Yongrui quickly searched himself. He had to check if he had any pockets and if he had any keys...
If worse comes to worst, he would have to try his key on each and every door to see which one was his room.
Feng Yongrui searched his pockets and dug out a shiny bronze object. It was a key!
"Urgh..." Feng Yongrui groaned when he saw the key. It was the type of key that he saw in ancient Chinese movies... not the type of keys he was so often used to seeing in the modern world.
How was he supposed to use this??
