Chereads / My System Is Unreliable, What To Do? / Chapter 67 - Saving Tan Jiuming (Arc 2)

Chapter 67 - Saving Tan Jiuming (Arc 2)

"So... you're telling me that for a whole month, I shouldn't go on any business trips... And I shouldn't go anywhere in 5 days?" Tan Jiuming asked in disbelief.

"Yes... Especially in 5 days, you should NOT go anywhere, and you definitely must not board that plane," Feng Yongrui said sternly.

He had to emphasize that part. In 5 days, Tan Jiuming was fated to die, and Feng Yongrui was afraid that Tan Jiuming wouldn't listen to him and end up dying.

On the other hand, Feng Yongrui was afraid that if Tan Jiuming didn't die in 5 days, he would still get into an accident and die a few days later. This was why Feng Yongrui didn't want Tan Jiuming to go anywhere during this month.

However... Tan Jiuming didn't look very happy...

"How do you know my schedule?" he asked. "Also, how am I supposed to believe your nonsense? Just tell me directly. Who told you to do this, and what do they want to gain?"

Tan Jiuming did not stop there. "That person doesn't want me to go to the company or attend my business meeting abroad... Is he trying to poach that project from me or give me a bad name?"

"How much did that person pay you? I'll give you double the amount, so you'd better come clean before I decide to take care of you," Tan Jiuming said curtly.

Feng Yongrui: "..."

"Host, why are you silent? You should hurry and answer him," the System reminded him.

"Wait. My brain is loading," Feng Yongrui said quietly.

Actually, Tan Jiuming's suspicions weren't exactly out of reach. The world of the wealthy was filled with countless tricks and manipulation.

Feng Yongrui's request was also out of the blue, so it was pretty reasonable for Tan Jiuming to doubt him.

Feng Yongrui wanted to cry, but he had no tears.

"Tan Jiuming... I understand your suspicions... but I'm doing this for your sake, okay...." Feng Yongrui complained inside his head.

The System rolled its non-existent eyes and replied, "Host, don't forget that you're doing this so that you become famous..."

"Well, that's right. I almost forgot about that."

Anyway, Feng Yongrui turned his attention to Tan Jiuming, who was eyeing him suspiciously. He wasn't sure on how to convince Tan Jiuming to believe him, so Feng Yongrui turned to Tan Qiqiang for help.

"Sir," Feng Yongrui spoke, "I'm speaking the truth. This matter concerns your son's safety... so I hope you take my words seriously."

Feng Yongrui took a deep breath and spoke bravely. "I was not hired by anyone, I really am a monk. I'm saying all of this for your own safety, so I hope you believe me."

Tan Qiqiang nodded his head quietly.

"I understand... Regarding this matter, I will discuss with my son after this. Thank you for taking the time to visit us," Tan Qiqiang finally spoke.

"For now... I'll have a servant escort you outside. The chauffeur will send you back. Is that alright?" Tan Qiqiang asked.

Feng Yongrui nodded his head wordlessly. He was sent back so abruptly like this, but he could understand the Tan family's suspicions.

Now, the only thing he could do was hope that Tan Jiuming would take his advice.

When the Taoist Monk was gone, Tan Qiqiang looked at his son disapprovingly.

"Dad, that person is really suspicious. How does he know I'm going abroad in five days?" Tan Jiuming was the first to react.

"I know, and I agree with you. He does seem suspicious. But. Do you really think I invited him here without investigating him?" Tan Qiqiang said with a raised eyebrow.

Tan Qiqiang had already investigated this Taoist Monk. He had checked on the monk's previous endeavors, the people he had saved, and how this monk never charged money from others.

Tan Qiqiang had the feeling that this person was the real deal.

"I've checked it already. This monk has no relationship with our rivals... His record is clean," Tan Qiqiang added.

"Son, is that business deal very important?" Chen Chuntao, who had been silent all this time, spoke.

"I'm talking about the business abroad... Do you think you can postpone going abroad...?" Chen Chuntao asked.

Tan Jiuming frowned.

"Mom, do you really believe in that monk's words?" he asked.

"Well... I don't believe it 100%," she replied, "but I think there's no harm in being careful. If it's possible to postpone this business trip, just postpone it. I don't want you to risk it and regret it afterwards..."

Tan Jiuming frowned and thought it over.

"Son, even if the monk's words were false and he has ulterior motives, what should we be afraid of?" Tan Qiqiang asked.

"We are the Tan family. If he has bad intentions, we can retaliate against him at any time. After all, we have the money and the right connections. If he does anything funny..."

Tan Jiuming understood what his father meant and relented.

Five days later, Tan Jiuming stayed at home, holding a conference online. When it was done, Tan Jiuming closed his computer and drank a cup of coffee.

"Y-Young Master!" a servant came running towards him, and Tan Jiuming looked up.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

The servant gasped for breath and spoke hurriedly.

"T-there was a plane crash... All the passengers died... Not a single one survived..." the servant said with ragged breaths.

"A plane crash?"

"Yes... And that plane... was the one you were supposed to ride..."

Tan Jiuming was stunned. He was still mulling over the servant's words when his mother rushed over to him.

"I heard the news! The plane you were supposed to ride got into an accident, and there were no survivors..."

Chen Chuntao's face was pale and her hands were slightly shaking. The world saw her as the Madam of the Tan family, but before that, she was a mother.

After the loss of her two sons, she was distraught. Naturally, she was very protective of her third son.

Chen Chuntao looked back at the monk's words and shuddered. If the monk hadn't said anything, her son would've gone on that business trip...

If he boarded that plane, and the plane got into an accident...

Chen Chuntao's face was as white as paper, and she did not dare think of the consequences.

"We have to tell your father about this!" Chen Chuntao cried.

"Right... this means the monk's words were true. You shouldn't go anywhere, okay? Remember, don't go anywhere!" Chen Chuntao said sternly as she took out her phone and called her husband.

Tan Jiuming was silent; this time, he did not refute his mother's words.

Meanwhile, Feng Yongrui had fallen back into his usual routine of eating, drinking, sleeping and playing (as a toddler). Whenever he had a client, Wang Xiamei would tell him, and he would shapeshift into the Taoist Monk.

Feng Yongrui had also checked on Yin Longshen. At the moment, it seemed like Yin Longshen was okay. Zhou Baozhai was not oppressing him too much because she simply did not care.

Feng Yongrui noticed though, that Yin Longshen was getting thinner. He did not speak much and was reserved in front of others.

Sometimes, when he was alone, Yin Longshen would shed a tear or two. At that time, Feng Yongrui's heart would ache, but he did not dare appear in front of the protagonist.

They would be able to stay together soon... They just had to wait patiently...

Wait, why did that last line sound a bit off?

Never mind...

That evening, Feng Yongrui had just finished tidying up his toys when the System reminded him that Wang Xiamei was calling him.

Feng Yongrui flew out of the Yin manor and received Wang Xiamei's call.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

Wang Xiamei's voice was filled with excitement.

"The Tan family wants to meet you again!" Wang Xiamei cried excitedly.

She explained that the Tan family was impressed with him and wanted him to come back.

"Right, what did you do to make them so thankful towards you?" Wang Xiamei asked. She was really curious.

"Ah... I just helped them a bit. It was nothing, really. When does the Tan family want to meet me?" Feng Yongrui asked.

"Oh, they said they want to meet you as soon as possible... Do you think you can come today?"

"I can. I'll meet you in your house," Feng Yongrui replied.

When the phone call ended, Feng Yongrui sighed. He almost forgot that today was the fifth day!

Thankfully, Tan Jiuming had listened to his advice and stayed at home...

Feng Yongrui did not delay anymore. He changed into the Taoist Monk and flew to Wang Xiamei's house. Once he arrived, he saw the chauffeur waiting for him.

Feng Yongrui entered the car and was brought to the Tan family mansion again.

By this time, the sky had turned dark and the sun had hid behind the clouds. It was nighttime, so the Tan mansion was brightly lit.

Feng Yongrui stepped out of the car and was led to the living room like before.

A monk tells you that you shouldn't go on a trip, otherwise you die. You...

a) I believe in the monk's words...

b) What kind of nonsense is this? I'm still going!

c) Something else...
