Still at the secretary's place, Deective Jones asks her about the Katherine's stalker.
"Yeah, that is true. She was stalked by someone who was always sending love letters both to the office and her residence." Jane recollects.
"Love letter! To the office and her residence?" Jones asks for clarity.
"Yeah, she was not in good mood and it was shocking how she expressed her acerbated feeling after she got the last letter before she moved. I don't know what was written in the last letter but I could remember for sure that she called me to put a call through to the police and lay her plight." Jane reacts.
"Do you have the letters with you?" Jones asks.
"Just the first two letters which were sent to the office but the last letter, I do not have that, she does." Jane replies while she stands to get a soft drink for them to drench their dry throats.
"Okay but do you have any idea who the stalker could be?" Jones asks with a look to gain clarity.
A soft and heart-warming ring tone from her phone interrupts their conversation; so she moves swiftly, with the Detective's consent, to pick the call. A sight on the caller changes her countenance as it happens to be Robin who helped her out in the arrangement of her new place of work.
She does not want to have any heart engaging relationship with him aside from just being friends on a platonic level because of her previous experience which almost affected her work as it depressed her emotionally but obviously, she is being pestered by his incessant romantic approaches which render it uneasy for her to maintain the line of resistance which she has already drawn in her heart.
However, she answers the call with a seemingly kind response.
Hello Janny! As he fondly calls her.
Hi Robin!
How are you? Robin asks.
I am good. Thanks.
I… Uhm… I… I… want…; Robin speaks incoherently with the fear of being disapproved.
What's up? Speak up. I am a bit busy here. Jane cuts in.
Okay! Robin clears throat and continues; I want to invite you for a dinner with my family, 7 O'clock, Saturday night. That's three days from now. Would you be available?
After a few minutes of silence amidst the thought of whether or not to accept the proposal, Jane concludes and replies him; "I don't think I would be available and I don't think I might want to come."
Oh… but why did you say you don't think you might want to come? Robin queries with a confused facial expression.
Never mind. I have to go now. Someone is waiting for me. Jane reacts.
Uhm… Okay! I will call you later. Take ca…..
Later. Jane cuts in, ends the call and comports herself to return to Deective Jones.
"I am really sorry for keeping you waiting and thanks for allowing me to pick the call," Jane speaks to amuse the Detective.
"Are you kidding me? That was not a problem. It was your call and you had to pick it." He responds as both of them laugh.
"Uhmm… Please, what was the question you asked before we got interrupted?" Jane asks trying to recollect.
I asked to know if you have any idea who Katherine's stalker could be. Jones answers.
Oh! No, I don't. She was a very private person. As close as I was to her, she really didn't tell me much but there is one thing I think I know which is; she was definitely seeing someone before she moved.
"Seeing someone?" Jones points out to know more.
"Yeah, she didn't tell me but in a way, I got to know because there was a day I got her some stuff from the office to the house and she told me to take them upstairs, which I did. But getting to her room upstairs, I was arranging the things I took there and tried to place one of them in the right side of her wardrobe and then…, I saw a shocking thing."
"A shocking thing! What was it?" Jones asks with a curious face.
I saw a pregnancy kit pack hidden under her lingerie; I guess she never thought I was going to find out. So I didn't say anything about it but watched her closely.
That was when I noticed that she was expecting but I just could not figure out who the father was since she really never talked about her personal relationships with me. So, I did not ask. Jane replies.
"Hmm… Okay! What else did you find out?" Jones further asks.
There was another time I saw a guy's t-shirt in her wardrobe and thought probably it could be hers but it was just too big and wide though I still did not ask her. It crossed my mind that it could be for the father of the baby but I didn't want to conclude.
Nonetheless, while watching her closely, I realized that there was a particular client she was most fond of but you know it's a rule as a therapist never to get romantically or personally involved with any client. So, I shunned the thought of its possibility.
"Hmm... Interesting; Jones remarks as he pens down few things from what she said.
"Do you have the information of the client you are particularly suspicious of with whom she could be having an affair?" Jones further enquires.
Well, I should not be revealing the personal information of any client but because you are a police, I guess I don't have a choice.
After she moved, I took the liberty to pack all her clients' files and moved them here, so I think I should have the client's information. Jane responds with certainty.
Please, give me some minutes while I go fetch it. She gets up to leave.
In few minutes, she returns with a file and hands it over to the detective who opens it and sees what he never expects to see.
