Chereads / Dratsmate! Revenge of the Sky Demon / Chapter 59 - "Seriously Feed"

Chapter 59 - "Seriously Feed"

It was night and the house uttered not a sound, the only thing that could be heard was the weird noise the refrigerator made that the giants opened to cool things.

"Wait" Burrowed whispered as he looked out. He saw no sign of the cat and signaled for Sharp to move forward. Burrow and Sharp sleuthed past the space between the bathroom and the living room, climbing up to get to the cupboard on top of the counter, Sharp mis gripped and fell back, just in time for Burrow to turn back and grab his hand. He pulled him up and Sharp quickly gained his balance, making their way up to the counter entering through the small hole that was in the side of the plyboard. They came in sniffing and grabbing anything they could find which was the usual pieces of potato chips, cheesy dips, rice grains, and other stuff, making trips down and going back to the space. They made four to five trips when suddenly, the door flapped that was close to the outside. Sharp and Burrow froze, watching the cat lazily stride in looking half asleep. What was he doing up at this time?? They thought. Burrow signaled for them to creep back into the cupboard and make one last trip to call it a night. Burrow stopped, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.

He decided that it was time for them to have a little fun...

"You get the rest of the breadcrumbs to the space. We have to go one by one but before we do that, I have an idea that will get him out the house " Sharp nodded in agreeance as Burrow made his way down to the cupboard. He was steadily creeping behind a metal pan that had left over rice grains in it and between other plates and dishes. The cat was laying down, with his back against the counter, nodding in and out of sleep. The metal pan was parallel to where he rested.

"So you like rats mmm?" Burrow whispered to himself, going behind the metal pan and continuously nudging it to the surface ever so slightly, inch by inch until it was directly over the cat's head. Sharp couldn't let go of his breath, seeing what Burrow was about to do, he found himself inching forward to tell him to stop but before he could even blink, Burrow pushed the metal pan off the counter straight on top of the cat's head. Sharp gasped, as the cat sounded a loud meow and jumped out of its sleep, scampering off through the small door to the patio to go back outside. Sharp went from fearing for Burrow's life to laughing away, Burrow looking back up at him with a big grin on his face.

'You showed him that miser!!!" Sharp chuckled, both of them high fiving. As he came down, both of them ran back to their home and called it a night with the food that they had. That night they had a lovely dinner, sitting and eating together as Mother Mince always wanted them too.

"Lets make a promise Sharp. To each other" Burrow said before he bore into his piece of chicken.

"Let's continue to eat together as a family every night, even after we get out of this house and move on to have our own families. When we have our own wives and litter we shall continue the tradition, and we shall live and stay close to one another no matter the circumstance."

"I like the sound of that Burrow. To the most respected Rodent families ever and more importantly to Mother Mince and Cheesy!" they both rose their pieces of food in their hands to a toast.

"To Mother!!!And Cheesey!!" Burrow agreed as the breads knocked together in the air. They ate and reminisced over times, and they were happy that night.

IN THE GARDEN

To-mas ran outside wriggling his head and cursing to himself, wondering what could have banged his head like that while he was asleep. Could it have been the man? he thought to himself logically.

No it couldn't have cause he's usually in his bed at this time, and he was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly he heard a great flap of wings above in the tall tree over the fence close to the forest; To-mas forgot all about what had happened previously and hid in the little garden by the window in front of the yard.

He had been watching the Eagle for days now and her routine was the same, she got up just before you could see the blueness in the sky, early at dawn, went to go look for food and then after a few minutes, she was back to her babies. To-mas calculated this in his head and deduced that within that short span of ten minutes while she was gone, he could easily climb up the tree, snatch one of those goodies and get out of there. He was a quick climber after all and they were still so young, he felt confident to grab one before she ever came back, and then she wouldn't even know where her child has gone. He just wanted her to continue feeding them, fattening them up for him a bit a more, so that he had nice, gushy meat to sink his teeth into when he caught them.

''She doesn't even know there's a cat in this yard because I've kept myself so well hidden' He licked his lips and wiggled his tail in excitement.

"Eagle meat? This is too good of a steal!!!" he purred, sitting down on the warm soil and closing his eyes to rest.

IN THE HOLDINGS

That night Burrow and Sharp enjoyed their meals, eating, laughing, and really having a great time reminiscing about memories with Cheesy.

"Hey you remember how obsessed Cheesy was with Cheese?" Burrow asked, while Sharp dug into a piece of chicken.

"Of course, I remember. We cut Cheese from his diet for weeks. And the obsession still killed his ass, God bless the greedy bastard's soul" at this Sharp and Burrow burst out laughing, so hard that they had to hold their sides; laughing until they cried.

After all that, both cleaned up, got into their beds, and went to sleep. Sharp was in and out of sleep while Burrow was still up, his mind racing with a thousand thoughts per second.

"Hey Sharp. Sharp! Are you asleep yet" Burrow whispered lowly, Sharp turning over on his side slowly, his tired eyes watching Burrow.

"Of course I'm not. Else I wouldn't be answering you" Sharp grumbled, breathing in slowly.

"Hey you ever wondered where Mother and Cheesy have gone too? Like is there a heaven special for us..rodents? Or maybe they're in a paradise somewhere?" Burrow asked curiously, almost sounding as innocent as a child.

Sharp rolled over on his belly, giving that question some serious thought.

"Maybe there is a special heaven. Where there's no cats, birds, giants or whatever else. Maybe it's just a paradise filled with Milk, bread, honey and meats. Or fruits. I don't think they eat meats in heaven." Sharp answered Burrow's question, blinking slowly as he watched him. They stopped talking and it was silent for a while, Sharp closing his eyes and falling back to sleep, while Burrow stared up into the ceiling.

"What's the first thing your gonna do when we make it. I want to climb up into the highest tree, and just look down on everything, so that I can feel big and all of it feels small. I've spent most of my life feeling small, so now I can be the big guy you know? That's how I think of it. So what are you gonna do?" Burrow asked.

"Well I'm gonna find me some nice does. And just have a great big family. Like a tribe or a clan. Then I'm gonna train them to fight. I want to make a rodent army that fights off all those monsters out there" Sharp said proudly, fisting in the air and pretending to fight.

"And every year we're going to have a holiday to celebrate Cheesy's life" he added.

"Yes!! Like a commemoration" Burrow completed.

"Yeah and I could see you being a general or something. Like in Dratsmate" Burrow added.

"Yeah exactly" Sharp commented. It was silent again as Burrow thought off into space, Sharp happy at the thought of his rodent army. He turned and stayed silent, dozing off again.

"Hey Sharp. I'm really excited about tomorrow. I have a really good feeling that things will turn out much better than it has before. After all we've been through this is our break" Burrow said, breathing deeply and feeling satisfied.

"Sharp? Sharp you sleep-" Burrow turned over and saw that Sharp was dead asleep.

"Oh. Goodnight buddy" He whispered, turning over and drifting off himself.
