Chapter 3 - 2

Y/N watched as Kiyone was crowded by a bunch of girls, asking her questions and wondering if she'd come with them to the mall. It was amusing for Y/N to see the infamous masterpiece getting pressured by a bunch of high school girls.

Y/N - I bet she wasn't trained for an outcome such as this.

Y/N was laughing internally but immediately yawned. How annoying it is for him to be this sleepy.

"I'm sorry, but um I think I want to check out the dormitories and buy a few necessities first. So if you don't mind then can we go tomorrow?"

Kiyone tried her best to decline her new 'friends' as she was never prepared for such a thing like this to be happening to her.

Kiyone - So much for not standing out.

She sighed internally at her situation, she didn't expect this to happen. She couldn't help but ask why they acted like this towards her. Was she perhaps being teased? She didn't know as she was certain she messed up her introduction.

Tilting her head, Kiyone waited for them to answer.

"Y-yeah that's okay Ayanokouji-san. Who knew you were so responsible?"

Responsible? Isn't that normal?

Both Kiyone and Y/N thought this at the same time, the girl with the blonde pony tail must be really trying to blend in. It seems to be working as everyone nodded in agreement to her words. Soon the crowd had dispersed and Kiyone let out a breath of air in relief. She was lucky they listened to her.

She got up and started walking towards the door which was already being held open by Y/N who was about to walk out. He looked behind him to see her walking towards him. Being the gentleman he is, he stood to the side to let her pass.

"Thanks."

"Don't mention it."

They both were now walking side by side leaving the school building. Y/N glanced at her and smiled a little as he broke the silence between the two.

"So... Kiyone, I hope you don't mind me calling you that?"

"No it's okay. [shaking her head a little] Y/N, right?"

"Yep. Anyway, I couldn't help but hear you mention your going to buy some stuff and then head to the dormitories."

"That's right."

Y/N - Wow, she sure knows how to keep a conversation short.

Kiyone - Did I mess up?

"Well I hope you don't mind if I tag along with you, do you?"

"No, I don't mind."

"Great. [yawn] That's great."

"You're really sleepy aren't you?"

"I could say the same to you, you fell asleep on the bus."

"Ah. [remembers falling asleep on his shoulder] Well you could say I got bored of the bus drive."

"Yet your eyes couldn't help but perk up at the sight of the Sakura trees huh?"

"You could tell?"

Kiyone was surprised as she never imagined someone would be able to read her. She's always wearing her poker face and could never change her expression. The only times were rare occurrences, such as saying goodbye to Matsuo.

Kiyone - I wonder if he's still alive.

"Is that a bad thing?"

"No it's not, it just came as a surprise."

"Hmm."

Before they knew it, they arrived at the convenience store and went in. They both saw many students looking around and walking down the aisles with gleeful expressions. They both went to get their baskets and started walking around.

They both had ended up splitting up. Y/N immediately went to the food aisle section and bought a few ingredients and a few bentos that should make up for dinner. They didn't cost much luckily but he knows he can't live off this stuff. Luckily for him, he knows how to cook.

Walking down the frozen section, he looks to see a variety of alcohol. Scanning through them, he decides not to buy any for now. Looking behind him he sees Kiyone talking to that black haired girl with the icy stare. They both were in the aisle shopping for shampoo and soap products.

Walking down the aisle, Y/N grabs a few of them as well as a toothbrush and toothpastes.

"Ah, there you are."

"Hm, Kiyone, who's your friend?"

Y/N looked towards the girl beside Kiyone and took a quick glance at their baskets without them knowing. He notices they both have also chosen cheap products.

Y/N - So this girl either has suspicions or she's figured out the S-System.

"Who I am is none of your concern." She said walking away.

Y/N - She definitely hasn't figured it out.

"She's harsh." Y/N mutters as he watches her walk away.

"Yeah."

"So, [turns to Kiyone] I expected girls to buy more expensive products."

"Ah, well I just copied Horikita."

"Horikita? You mean her?" Y/N asks, pointing at the girl that had walked away.

"Mhm."

Kiyone nods in response before walking towards the noodles section. She kneels down and picks one up before her eyes wander around the other variants.

"Noodle cups. They have so many kinds. [looks at Y/N] Have you had them before."

"A few times. Why?"

"Ah, well I've never tried them before."

"How come?"

"Because... this is more of a boys kind of food isn't it."

"I guess you could say that. Are you going to try some?"

"Mmmm. I think so." Kiyone rotated the noodle cup in her hand and saw the price tag. "156 yen. Is this price high or low?"

"I'd say a little lower than usual. They're normally around 200 yen."

"Ah I see, I think I'll get a few." Picking up a few, Kiyone read out one that was bigger than the others. "A G-cup?" Tilting her head she looks down at her breasts before looking back at the cup.

Y/N - G-cup, comparing that to Kiyone's breast—[Ahem] assets, they certainly are bigger.

"Y/N."

Being brought out of his thoughts, he hears Kiyone call out to him and sees her looking at him with a slightly suspicious gaze.

"Were you perhaps... thinking about something rude?"

"Uh, no. Why would you think that?"

"I'm not sure, just got the feeling." Kiyone said before standing up. "Are you done?"

"Yeah."

"Then let's head to the till."

While they were making their way to the till, Y/N was still hooked up about how she could read his mind.

Y/N - Is this an ability of the masterpiece. No... There's another reason for this.

"Hm? I wonder what this is about?"

Y/N looks to see Kiyone staring at a basket in the corner with a few essentials such as toilet paper and whatnot. What caught his attention was the sign that said the word 'free.'

"I'm not sure." Y/N said as he picked up a toilet roll.

"Perhaps they're emergency relief supplies." Kiyone thought with a finger on her chin.

"You mean for those who run out of points. [raises an eyebrow] I guess that makes sense."

"It does?"

"Well we don't know how many points we're getting next month."

"But aren't we getting 100,000 points every month?"

"That's what everybody thinks."

Y/N didn't mind telling Kiyone this, as he knew she already had an idea of the S-System, even if she gave it little to no thought. It's obvious she's not the type to gossip nor is she to tell his secrets.

He already has a rough idea on this and the free items in front of him further prove his suspicions. Before Kiyone could ask anything else to test and see how much the boy in front of her had figured, Y/N had already started to take a few things from the basket. Kiyone, seeing this, decided to do the same.

"Hey, shut it! Just wait a sec! I'm looking for it right now!"

A loud shout attracted the duo's attention as a redhead started shouting at the cashier.

"Come on, hurry up. You have a line of people waiting on you!"

"Oh, yeah? Well, if they have any complaints, they can take it up with me!"

"[yawn] You're so loud."

"Huh?! You have a problem with that."

The redhead immediately stopped looking around his pockets and turned to Y/N who approached them with Kiyone following behind. She already had an idea of what he was about to do, but she couldn't help but think it's going to go differently.

"Calm down. I'll pay for the noodle cups, with the exception of cutting in line as well."

"Huh? Oh uh yeah thanks man. Go ahead."

The redhead immediately calmed down and seemed surprised but also moved back to let Y/N pay. But Y/N first turned to Kiyone.

"Ladies first of course. [turns to the redhead] I hope you don't mind?"

"No no, it's not a problem."

It might not seem like a problem, but the redhead was fidgeting a lot. Y/N decided to have a little chat while waiting for Kiyone's items to get scanned and paid for.

"So while we're waiting, what's your name? I'm L/N Y/N, Class D."

"Ah right, I remember you, I'm from the same class. My names Sudo Ken. Thanks a lot man, I owe you."

Y/N simply smiled at Sudo, and turned to Kiyone when he heard the cashier.

"Thank you, please come again."

Kiyone - It really does work like money.

"You done?" Y/N asked.

Kiyone nodded and moved to the side to wait for him. The noodle cups that were previously set to the side were put back on the till with Y/N's stuff. The cashier scanned the items and put Sudo's noodles in a separate bag. Once Y/N paid for it he grabbed all the bags and started walking towards the door.

"Let's go, Kiyone."

"Um?"

"Hey, what about my noodles?!"

"Huh? What are you talking about?" Y/N asks confused.

"You know what I'm talking about. [stomping to Y/N] You said you would pay for them for me! Don't think I'm—"

"No I didn't."

"Huh?"

Y/N turns to everyone and asks; "Did I say I would buy the noodle cups for him?"

A few students that were in line nodded at his question, but others weren't sure as they felt there was a hidden meaning in his words.

"What the hell are you on about?!" Sudo grabs Y/N's blazer with his two hands, but is ignored.

"Kiyone?" Y/N turns to ask her.

"Um, no. You said you would pay for the cups but didn't say it was for him."

"[smirks] So, wanna let me go?" Y/N asks Sudo.

Sudo growls and raises his right fist about to punch Y/N as everyone watches in anticipation.

"Are you sure you wanna do that? There's cameras and witnesses here, you could get expelled for bullying."

After a few seconds of thinking, Sudo grunts and throws Y/N to the ground and walks out the store, throwing a tantrum and kicking a trash can right outside. Y/N looks up to see a hand held out to him. He grabs it and pulls himself up with the help of Kiyone.

"Thanks."

She nods and starts to walk out the door, while Y/N turns to everyone and apologises for the commotion. He catches up with Kiyone, who was waiting for him outside. They started walking to the dormitories in silence, when Kiyone asked him a question.

"Why did you do that?"

"I was bored and thought I could play with him a little."

"Are you saying your bored of me?"

"Wha— No that's not what I meant."

"Don't worry, I'm only joking. But aren't you afraid?"

"Of what?"

"It's nothing."

Kiyone - 'The amount you've received reflects the evaluation of your worth.' Will they think he's worthy next month, or not?

"Want me to carry your bags for you?"

"No, I'm alright."

"Okay."

Y/N isn't the type to ask again, he knew when someone was sure about something, so after asking once, he would never ask twice. As they were walking, Y/N's shoulder bumped into an upperclassman. Y/N muttered a 'sorry', but it seems that wasn't enough.

"You're sorry? You pushed us, you kouhais have no respect, maybe we should teach you?"

"What?"

"See? No respect. How about it boys?"

The three upperclassmen set down their bags and grinned at Y/N, as if he was their prey. But Y/N right now wasn't in the mood as he just used up his energy playing around with Habanero-kun.

Plus he wanted to test something.

"Ah, I'm sorry senpais, I can promise it won't happen again." Y/N apologises sincerely with a kind smile.

Kiyone - That smile again. How... fake.

"Tch, you're sorry. What class you in boy."

"...Class B."

"...Class B huh, you got lucky kid."

The leader of the three said as they picked up their bags and walked away. The previous expressions they had on before disappeared when he mentioned he was in Class B. Once they were a safe distance away, Kiyone turned to Y/N.

"Why did you lie?

"[smiles] Hm? I wonder? How would they react if I said I was in Class D instead."

"What are you trying to say?"

"Come on, you're a smart girl."

"...There's some sort of hierarchy between the four classes, isn't there?"

Y/N - Why question it when you already knew.

"Exactly."

Kiyone - Now his smile is different.

"Anyway, let's get going Kiyone."

"Yeah, let's go."

The walk was peaceful and quiet. It wasn't awkward or anything. It was just a comfortable silence. Kiyone would normally think it's awkward and she should try to say something, but right now she doesn't have that feeling.

After getting their key cards and boarding the elevator, Y/N pressed button 4, while Kiyone pressed the button 9. Once the door opened to the fourth floor, Y/N turned to Kiyone.

"This is my floor. I'll see you tomorrow Kiyone."

"Right." Y/N left the lift and started walking but stopped when he heard Kiyone. "Ah."

Turning back, he puts his foot out to stop it from closing.

"Is something wrong?"

"Um, I wanted to ask, are we... friends?"

"I was hoping so. So yes."

"Great." Kiyone nods with a blank face.

Y/N removes his foot and starts walking to his room. 401. Opening it, he looks around and is pleased with it.

Once it became dark, Y/N went back out to the same convenience he was at before with Kiyone. He looked around and saw there was no one in the store except him and the worker. Walking in and going to a specific aisle, he takes a bottle of scotch as well as two glasses. Taking them to the till, the cashier looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Sorry, but I can't sell this to you, you're underaged."

Just as the employee was about to grab the bottle and put it away, Y/N grabbed his wrist tightly. The man, wincing in pain, looked at Y/N and was about to speak but nothing came out of his mouth when he looked into Y/N's eyes.

"If I were you, I'd sell it to me."

Eyes shaking, the cashier couldn't move, it was as if he was paralysed. He didn't know if it was his imagination, but he saw a snake crawl out of Y/N's sleeve and crawl across his own arm and wrapped itself around his neck. The cashier almost felt like he was choking but at the same time he wasn't. His eyes were now staring into the snakes, feeling imminent death.

But all that stops when he feels Y/N's hand leave his wrist and the snake just disappears. Immediately he started breathing again, it was like he forgot how to. Taking deep breaths, he looks to Y/N and sees a kind smile on the student's face.

"So?" Y/N asked.

"O-of course sir. P-please give me a moment."

The cashier tries his best to scan the item with his shaky hands and puts them in the bag. Y/N brought out his ID and was about to pay, but the cashier stopped him.

"Please, I-it's on the house."

"Ohh, then you have my thanks."

Y/N grabbed the bags and walked out and as he did, he could hear the employee throwing up. Y/N simply smirks and walks away.

After returning to his dormitory, he opened the drink and poured himself a glass. As he drank a little, he took out a pill and swallowed it.

Y/N - This is the only way I'll ever get sleep.

Y/N continued drinking the rest from the glass and laid down on his bed, drifting off to sleep.
