Chapter 6 - 5

Everyone including Kiyone, although she still had the same apathetic expression, was staring at Karuizawa and Hirata. The duo had just announced that they both are now dating each other.

Now if you've all read the Light Novel or watched the anime, then you'd understand the reason as to why they're dating so quickly into the month.

But this isn't an isekai Fanfic.

So it's only natural for Y/N to be surprised at this particular news. Although Karuizawa's attempts weren't subtle, it still came as a surprise.

Y/N - Eh, whatever. If they wanna date, then let them date.

Glancing to the back of the class, Y/N overheard the three idiots calling Hirata 'a lucky bastard.' Now their reaction hasn't come as a surprise to Y/N, as it was expected.

Turning back to the group, Y/N's eyes accidentally catches Matsushita's. When she made eye contact with him, she simply smiled and nodded in a particular direction.

Raising an eyebrow in response, he looked to where she was nodding and saw Kiyone deep in thought. Feeling his gaze, she looks towards the source and sees Y/N look at him.

Their eyes also glance towards the side as they hear a few giggling sounds. Kiyone looking at Y/N questioningly, the latter shrugs in response.

"I'm going to go get some drinks, you guys want any." Y/N says as he stands up.

"Oh yeah, can you get me a soda?"

"A caramel coffee for me."

"I'd like iced tea."

As everyone says their orders to Y/N, the boy gives a deadpan face in response. Hearing the sound of Hirata's chuckling, Y/N looks to see him getting out of his chair.

"I'll come with you. You might need the help." Hirata offers.

"You don't say Yosuke." Y/N says sarcastically while rolling his eyes playfully.

As Karuizawa lets go of Hirata's arm, Y/N looks at her with a teasing grin and wraps his arm around Hirata.

"Hey Kei-Chan. You don't have to worry, I won't steal your man you know."

The girl in response pouts and glares at Y/N as she speaks;

"Of course I don't have to worry. Hirata-kun ain't a cheater."

But is he into men?

That's the real question.

Seriously, a handsome guy surrounded beautiful girls, yet he's never once tried to flirt with them. Not even a blush or a little embarrassment shown.

Once Karuizawa said those words, the two males chuckled and walked away, while the girls also decided to tease Karuizawa.

However, Y/N's chuckle was more fake and only Kiyone noticed it. She knows that he's probably thinking the same as her. Karuizawa's lack of reaction towards being teased.

A normal high school girl would get flustered and flushed while having a crush on someone or being in a new relationship.

However, that wasn't the case for Karuizawa Kei and Hirata Yosuke. They both didn't seem to be affected at all. Also, while it may not be weird, it certainly isn't regular how a couple call each other by their last names.

Going back to Y/N and Hirata, the both of them were walking towards a vending machine that was close by. As they were, Y/N was asking his Hirata questions about his new relationship, who didn't seem to mind.

"Who confessed between the two of you?"

"It was Karuizawa. Her confession came as a surprise, but I think there's been something between us and wanted to give it a try."

"Hmm, but I couldn't help but notice the both of you are still calling each other by your last names?"

"Well, we've decided to take it slow and not rush into it."

"Oh, well let me impart some of my wisdom Yosuke. You're the man in the relationship, and girls like it when they take charge."

"Really? But I don't want to seem controlling." Hirata responds doubtfully.

"Ah I get you, I do. But taking charge... Maybe you're still young Yosuke. I'll wait till your older."

"Huh? But—?"

As Hirata was about to question what Y/N means, he was interrupted by the latter pointing to the vending machine.

"So this was Kei-Chan's, caramel coffee was for Maya..." Y/N listed the drinks the girls had asked as he punched in the codes into the machine.

"I'm surprised you could remember what everyone wanted. I was planning on calling Karuizawa-san and asking her."

"What did I want?" Noticing Y/N wasn't listening, Hirata chuckled. "Huh, you say something Yosuke?"

"No, nothing at all. I'll just have a soda as well if you don't mind."

"Sure. And Kiyone wanted the strawberry milkshake. I think I'll get the chocolate one for myself."

"She really likes sweet things huh?"

"Who, Kiyone? Yeah I guess you're right." Y/N muttered as he thought of the reason why.

Shaking his head, Y/N brought out his ID and was about to pay for it, but Hirata stopped him before he could.

"Let me pay for it."

"Are you sure Hirata?"

"Yeah I don't mind."

"Hmm, why don't we half it."

"If you're okay with that." Hirata smiled.

After they both paid for it, they both looked to the ground to see all the drinks stacked up. Y/N let out an audible groan as he realised all the drink they have to carry back.

What a pain.

Sighing, Y/N stretches a little as he prepares to pick up the cans. While Hirata had already started, Y/N saw the Staff room, which was coincidentally next to the vending machine, was slightly open. And his eyes caught on a pile a paper that had the word 'test' written on it.

"Hey what's this?" Y/N says as he opens the door slightly.

Peaking into the room and seeing no one, he opens the door fully and picks up the paper.

"Hey! Y/N, I don't think we're allowed to be in here." Hirata says with his arms full of cans as he follows Y/N inside.

"I think we're having a test tomorrow."

"A test?"

"Yeah look."

"Nope, no." Hirata immediately closes his eyes and faces the other way. "I don't want to get in trouble for cheating Y/N. Plus we were never told about any test tomorrow. Maybe it's for another class?"

"Nope, if it's on our homeroom teacher's desk then it's definitely ours. Maybe a surprise test."

"Well if I were you I wouldn't look through them. We don't want to get into any trouble."

"Relax, I'm only looking at the cover. Not any of the questions."

"That's good, we wouldn't want any expulsions in the first month now would we?" A third voice says.

"AHH!" Hirata yelps as he drops the can and immediately turns around to the unknown voice.

"Yep, we definitely wouldn't want that." Y/N says nonchalantly.

As Y/N puts the sheets back, he looks up for a second in thought before his eyes widen and his head whips to the door to see a woman.

Hirata chuckles nervously as he rubs the back of his head and immediately bends down to pick up the dropped cans.

"Now what are you boys doing here?" The woman, presumably a teacher, smiles sweetly.

"Ah Sensei, we were just getting drinks, but got lost."

"Really? You got lost as soon as you got a bunch of drinks from the vending machine right outside?" The teacher says in a disbelieving tone. Giggling, she continues; "Relax, I won't tell anyone, if I could get something in return~" She says seductively looking between the two males.

Hirata's eyes lit up in response as he held out a drink to the teacher, while Y/N facepalms. Baffled, the teacher accepts it before giggling again and ruffling Hirata's hair.

"Thank you! Now that looks like it'll be tough to carry." She says, referring to the cans in Hirata's hands. "I think I have a plastic bag you both could use. Give me a second." She says placing the drink she was handed on the table nearby.

The teacher walks over to her desk and pulls a bag out of the cabinet as she continues talking;

"What are your names anyway? I mean I can't just call you guys intruder-sans~"

Y/N - Damn. I'm definitely using that as teasing material.

Chuckling Hirata answers. "I'm Hirata Yosuke Sensei. And this is L/N Y/N."

"Oh! I know you two. Always surrounded by beautiful girls. I'm Hoshinomiya Chie, but you boys can call me Chie-Sensei."

"Right, well thanks for the the bag Hoshinomiya-Sensei." Y/N says, making the teacher pout. "We'll be going now."

"Arigato Sensei for the bag. We'll make it up to you next time." Hirata says as they both walk out.

"Bye~!"

As they close the door behind them, Y/N immediately feels a sharp gaze from the side and sees Chabashira-Sensei walking down the hall, towards them. Her mouth opened as it seemed like she was about to tell them to wait, but didn't have the chance;

"Let's go Yosuke." Y/N say's immediately as he began pushing Hirata.

"Eh why the rush?"

"Don't worry, let's just go."

As they got away, Y/N sighed in relief as they both began walking back to the class at a normal pace. Everything seemed alright again, but Hirata had a slightly downcast expression.

"Something wrong, Yosuke?"

"Huh, um it's just that I gave one of the drinks to Hoshinomiya-Sensei. Now Mii-Chan has nothing to drink. I think I'll go back and get— huh?"

Hirata spoke and was just about to offer to go back to the vending machine to get Mili-chan's drink, but stopped as he stared at Y/N's outstretched hand.

Seeing the drink in Y/N's hand, Hirata slowly took it and couldn't help but stare at him with a confused expression.

"How did you—?"

"I took it back when she set it down on her desk to get the bag."

"But—"

"Oh look we're here."

Y/N interrupts Hirata as he opens the door to their classroom and walks in. Hirata stays there stunned for a few seconds before simply smiling with a shake of his head and follows Y/N in.

"Finally! What took you guys so long?" Karuizawa says.

"A piece of advice. Next time I say 'you guys want anything?' You lot respond with, 'no that's okay, we're alright.' Okay?"

The girls merely laughed in response to Y/N as he sat down with Hirata. As Hirata passed out the drinks, he and Y/N told everyone about the surprise test coming up tomorrow.

Well mostly Hirata told them.

•~~~~~•

The next day, both Hirata and Y/N were correct about the surprise test as the class had to take one. Y/N's suspicions and theories of the school continued to grow when taking this test, but he paid no mind and wanted to see what happens at the start of next month.

Anyway, it is currently the weekend and everyone had decided to come out to go shopping and hang out today, but Kiyone and Y/N were immediately bored.

Luckily their boredom disappeared when Y/N suggested to Kiyone they should ditch the movie. Giving it some thought, she nodded her head, agreeing with him. Quietly, he grabbed her hand and led her out of the theatre without alerting the others.

Once they left the room, Y/N let her hand go, yawning and stretching a little.

"Those chairs were really uncomfortable." Y/N stated.

"It's seems like everyone was almost out of points, so that's why we all bought the cheap tickets." Kiyone explained.

"I don't know about you but I'm doing okay with points."

"I think I have a fair amount."

Walking into an arcade, Y/N bought a couple of tokens and walked to a shooting game with Kiyone following behind home.

"Have you ever played?" He asked the brown haired girl as he inserted a token.

"No." She responded, shaking her head.

"Alright here." Y/N said, passing her the massive gun. "Just start shooting at the zombies before they can reach you. Try to go for headshots."

"Okay." Muttered Kiyone as she walked forward and stepped on the footprints on the ground.

As the game started, she immediately began shooting and moved her arms left and right as she shot, but a zombie to her left got close and died.

"I... lost?" Kiyone said with an uncertain tone.

Hearing Y/N chuckle, she turns to him and slightly narrows her eyes. Clicking the retry button, she began again, and started shooting. But this time she wasn't holding back as she used her ability to react to the max.

From the corner of her eyes, Kiyone could see Y/N's mocking smirk, like she was doing something wrong. Once again she dies, but this time it was a mini zombie that ran up to her and killed her.

"You're doing it wrong." Y/N calls out to her.

"What do you mean?"

"Look." He says as he walks to her. "Just because the footprints are there doesn't mean you have to stay in place." Y/N explains as he walks behind her, but not before entering another token.

Clicking the retry button, she began shooting, and seeing a zombie appearing from the left on the screen she was about to move her gun.

However, before she could, Y/N places his hands on her hips and moves her body, surprising her. Ignoring this, she continued killing them while Y/N moved her body left and right.

"See. It's easier to kill them by moving your entire body." Y/N whispers to her.

Kiyone couldn't help but shiver at the feeling of Y/N breath against her ears. She ignores the feeling and continues to shoot, with the help of Y/N moving her body towards the zombies.

He was right, it was working and helping better.

Normally she could have done it by herself now and no longer needed his help, but she didn't have it in her to tell him to take his hands off her waist.

Something about this moment felt right with her.

Just as she was distracted and didn't kill the zombie, she looked at the screen, showing her points.

"I lost... Again."

2340 Points

"Better. But against me, that's low." Y/N says behind her.

Kiyone couldn't help but roll her eyes, there wouldn't be a moment where he would tease her.

Turning her head to look at him, she sees a teasing smile on his face and amusement dancing in his eyes. It's like he could see through her apathetic expression and could see how she's currently feeling.

And right now, she's a little frustrated at the game.

But what catches her attention at this very moment is that Y/N isn't showing a fake face with her.

The moment they first met, she remembered seeing his fake smile. But now the faces and looks he gives her are genuine.

Y/N snapping Kiyone out of her thoughts, looks at her with realisation;

"Sorry, I didn't mean to continue touching you there without your permission."

Blinking, Kiyone remembers he was touching her hips and she was no longer feeling his warmth as he had let go and moved back a few steps.

"No it's okay." She says then turns back to the game. "Can we play this again sometime."

"Hm? Yeah sure I don't mind."

Nodding her head once more, she puts the gun away and walks to him as they both begin walking to another game.

Spotting a chessboard, Kiyone taps Y/N shoulder and points to it while speaking;

"You said you've played chess before. How about the two of us play."

"Sure, why don't you go while I get us some drinks."

Nodding her head, she takes the token from Y/N and goes over to occupy a table. As she inserts the token, she sits down on the brown side. While waiting, she notices a few girls approach her. The most noticeable is a girl with strawberry-blonde hair and blue eyes.

Kiyone - She's most likely the leader of the group.

"Hi! I'm Ichinose Honami from Class B!" The girl introduced herself, startling Kiyone with her voice.

"Ah, I'm Ayanokouji Kiyone, Class D."

"Are you perhaps alone?"

"No, I'm with a friend."

"Oh, where are they?"

"They went to go get some drinks."

"Hey, I'm Amikura Mako." The other girl waved at Kiyone. "You're really pretty. Perhaps on a date?" She says teasingly

"Ohh, are you? Are you?" Another girl asks eagerly.

"Um..."

"Hm? Are these your friends Kiyone?" A male voice called out, saving her.

They all look to see Y/N sipping on a drink with another in his hand. Handing it to Kiyone, she accepted it with thanks.

"We just met, but we're..."

The group then went on to introduce themselves and Y/N introduced himself as well. They began in some light conversation, mostly about the two Class D students.

Y/N mostly answered and kept up with the Class B students' questions while Kiyone silently sipped on the straw of her drink and listened.

"No we're not on a date." Y/N said as Kiyone looked at him confused as she recalled their conversation during swimming classes.

"Ah, so you're just friends." Amikura said with a cutesty voice.

"Yup." Y/N answered, making Amikura frown, having no reaction to her teasing.

Ichinose giggled at her friend's reaction and turned to the pair. "Are you two going to play some chess?"

"Yeah we are, did you guys want to?"

"No, but do you mind if we watch?"

"Sure go ahead, but there's no guarantee it'll be a good match."

"He's right, I haven't played before." Kiyone lied.

"That's okay!"

Y/N sat down on the opposite side and began playing. The first couple moves of both players were random. Pieces moved as Kiyone pretended to act confused and ask questions of which piece is which.

Everyone seemed patient as the two played while Kiyone was explained to. It was surprising to see how unbothered Class B was by Kiyone.

In the end Kiyone lost and everyone who was watching cheered for Y/N. Once everyone left the arcade, Class B suggested to the Class D duo they should exchange numbers with each other and hang out again some time.

Agreeing they exchanged contacts and went their separate ways. While the chess game seemed enjoyable, Kiyone was a little upset as she was hoping there wasn't an audience. She wanted to test Y/N, but when the other students came, she didn't want to stand out so she barely even tried.

"I have to say..." Y/N spoke up as they both walked to the dormitories. "I was a little disappointed."

"About what?" Kiyone questioned turning to the black-haired boy.

"That we had to hold back while playing. I was hoping to actually put in some effort."

"I see." Kiyone said.

Although she felt the same as him, she had a feeling he knew that and that's why he was mentioning it. Hearing the sound of her stomach grumbling, she immediately looked to the side to avoid Y/N's teasing look.

"Looks like someone's hungry~" Y/N says, chuckling before his stomach rumbles as well.

Turning to see him rubbing him rubbing the back of his head, she asks;

"What are we gonna eat?"

"Umm, how about cooking something back in my dorm?"

"You can cook?" Kiyone says, trying to sound sceptical.

"What? You think just because I'm a boy, I can't."

"So can you?"

"Well... I haven't before, but I'm pretty much awesome at everything, so how hard can it be?"

•~~~~~•

Turns out it's very hard as Y/N had almost burnt down the kitchen. There's literally burn marks on the kitchen walls right now.

So now Y/N is officially banned from the kitchen and is to wait in the living room, while Kiyone cooks. She's learnt how to cook thanks to her butler Matsuo and found it very easy.

Then again, Y/N isn't surprised she can cook, she can do anything. She's a masterpiece of a human. Looking back into the kitchen, Y/N couldn't help but admit he's finding the scene of Kiyone in an apron cooking in his apartment alluring.

Any male student in his class, hell the school, would kill to have Kiyone in their kitchen cooking food for them.

"You know, it's like we're a married couple." Y/N blurts out as he switches channels on the Television.

Hearing a pause of movement in the kitchen, he looks to see Kiyone tilting her head at him in thought.

"I... guess it does. I'm the wife who does everything, while you're the lazy husband barely supporting the family."

"H-hey! I'm not lazy. Well maybe, but that doesn't mean I'm barely supporting us! I've got 60,000 points right now." Y/N yells getting up and pointing at her.

"And I've got over 80,000."

"Ah, well... Damn minimalist." Y/N mutters as he sits down, crossing his arms.

Kiyone from the kitchen has a ghost of a smile appear before it disappears as brings the food to the living room table. Y/N helps by bringing the plates and glasses of water.

Digging into the meal, Y/N taste buds explode as he immediately melts into the food.

"Soooo goood~ How can food taste this good! What's your secret Kiyone!" Y/N says looking at her in pure bliss.

"[blinking] I have no secret. But I'm glad you enjoy it." She simply responds as she eats.

From Y/N's quick change in mood and reaction, Kiyone only has one thought in her head after getting to know the fellow classmate in front of her for the past month.

Kiyone - Y/N has no true personality.
