CHAPTER 2: GONE
“Are you sure you want this? At least my money maintained you... You won’t find everything as easy out there!” Alexander warned.
“Do I care much? I choose to suffer out there than to persevere at your ruthless hands!” Gianna said. The doctor motioned them to move into the ward. Gianna pulled a chair and sat down. The doctor read out reports that showed Victoria’s kidney had a problem and she really needed a transplant.
“Are you 100% sure this report is true? I noticed all the times I sacrificed myself, donated blood with the claims that Victoria was unstable was all a lie. Trust you me, if this is a lie, I will sue this hospital!” Gianna said. The doctor's face suddenly changed.
“What can you do?” Victoria sneered. After all who didn’t know that Gianna didn’t have a background? She didn’t have where to go?
“This!” Gianna stood up and directly slapped Victoria hard in the face. Everyone was shocked, more so Alex. When did she grow such wings?
“You!” Alexander flew into rage but didn’t slap her. “You know her condition well yet you choose to be violent? I gave you everything Gianna...” Alexander suppressed his rage.
“Of course Alex, I know her condition very well!” Gianna took steps back. “How many years have I been donating blood? How weak do you think I am right now? Three years... Just when she needed blood, our marriage became meaningful because I was the blood bank. I donated blood three, even four times a month, did I ever complain? No. Last time I wasn’t even able to stand up and walk properly!” Gianna said with a lot of pain, “And you’re shamelessly asking me to donate my kidney? Has it gone that far?”
“I paid you for everything!” even though it hurt Alexander Solace to see how weak Gianna turned every day, how slim she was and how pale she was, he just couldn’t help it. This had to be done for Victoria's sake.
“Money isn’t what I wanted all this years. Am not done yet! I will sure this hospital in future for using fake means to get me donate blood!” Gianna said. The doctor's face suddenly changed.
“Mrs. Solace!” the doctor tried to speak.
“Call me by name!” Gianna didn’t look up. “I sneaked into your office when I couldn’t take it anymore. Everything you told me here was a lie! The real records are in your drawer. Mr, doctor, are you really qualified for your work?”
Alexander’s face suddenly changed and the air around him froze. He looked at Victoria, then back at the doctor. “Is this? Is this true?”
“Alex... You believe this gold digger? This nonentity?” Victoria asked trying to convince Alex. Someone entered the room and Gianna knew who this was. She immediately stood up.
“There is no time!” Gianna was handed the papers. Alexander smiled knowing after all she didn’t have a place to go. She would be free, but still run back to his arms. After Gianna sighed, she sighed, looked at Alexander Solace before walking out. After a while of talking on phone, she leaned back on the wall and cries her heart out to exhaustion. She really had endured enough in the home of the Solace.
A car drove into the hospital gates and a man and a woman got out. Seeing them, Gianna who had calmed down burst into tears afresh.
“Gianna!” Xavier, her brother ran to her and hugged her. “Gianna what happened to you?” his sister had broken all links with the family the moment she moved in with Alexander against her family’s will and it has been three years... Three years without seeing her family.
“Gianna is this you?” Zoe asked with a teary face. She had missed her friend, and now, Gianna seemed to have emerged from a new planet, thin and emaciated. “You know what I feel now? ... Never mind! You’re safe!”
Zoe and Gianna hugged for long before Xavier said they needed to go. The two led Gianna to the car and helped her get in.
The Solace Castle...
Mira got tired waiting and decided to call Alexander. Gianna had left, but had not come back. Just when she was about to dial, an unfamiliar car drove in. Mira motioned her mother and they both got out. Katherine looked at two new faces get out, then one man opened the car for someone she noticed. This car didn’t have a family logo, so it made sense if they didn’t recognise it.
Gianna walked with Zoe and Xavier on her sides towards the house. Katherine welcomed her with a serious mocking face.
“How many times did I have to tell you not to bring strangers into this family? This is a big family and we don’t like messing around!” Katherine said obviously angry. Xavier and Zoe frowned.
“Every work is untouched. However lazy you become today, you must do the works!” Mira added. Gianna didn’t say anything, she just smiled which annoyed the two even more.
“You!” Katherine was about to grab Gianna when the well built and manly Xavier stepped in and let his blue eyes meet her hazel eyes.
“Baby, is this the kind of life you’ve been living? Pick your things, just the essentials. You deserve better than this!” Xavier stepped aside and let Gianna go ahead. Zoe wanted to go after her to help her pack but Katherine didn’t allow her.
“This house doesn’t welcome strangers, you arrogant fools!”
Pap!
A slap landed on her cheeks. If you thought Zoe entertained nonsense, then you are wrong. “You have no respect for yourself. How would you feel if your daughter was treated the same way you’re treating her? She already lowered herself too much for you ungrateful people. If I had known this is the kind of life she lives, I would have come to pick her myself long time ago!”
“You dare to slap me?” Katherine staggered back. Even Mira was shocked at this girl's reaction. No one has even raised a hand at her, leave alone her own mother.
“I will slap you again if you move a step towards me!” Zoe snorted. Xavier watched the drama with a cold heart. If it were not he doesn’t beat women, he could already have beaten Katherine into a pulp.
“You! You ungrateful being went and brought this bunch of fools to harass us in our own home?” immediately Gianna came out of the house, Mira vented her anger.
