Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

I was comfortably dozing off on my bed the following day when I suddenly realized what I had to do. Okay, it's still not too late, I said after checking the clock and realizing that it was just 5:30 PM. After telling my mother I would return later, I hopped on my bicycle and pedaled as quickly as I could in her direction.

God was the one who prevented me from not colliding with a pit. Something must kill a man, as they say, and in my case, it appears to be a lady.

When I arrived at her store, I got off my bicycle. There she was more attractive than she was yesterday. She wore a sun dress with a beautiful pendant around her neck.

They didn't notice me when I arrived, because she was probably teaching her younger brother something for his homework.

I pretended to clear my throat as I coughed to get their attention.

She lifted her head up to see who was it.

"What did you wish to buy this afternoon? She spoke as if she had never seen me before."

I managed to remain cool despite my heart beating rapidly.

"Please give me some cookies and a Pepsi", I requested.

I purchased it from her. Though I did pay for it, that was not the major reason I came today. I kept trying to come up with conversation starters.

The young child exclaimed, "My older sister, see, a bicycle," and it was timed well because things were already uncomfortable. I felt pleased with the child, thinking, "This youngster knows the bro code already."

"Stop it, remember what I told you yesterday?" She was warning the child not to be taken in by minor details.

As a quick thinker, I took advantage of the situation.

"It's fine; he's a boy, so he'll naturally want to ride a bicycle." "I can instruct him." The last part of the statement was a lie because I dislike riding my bike with strangers or anyone else."

"You...." I knew she was going to decline the offer, so I cut her off by telling her I could teach her how to ride a bicycle also.

"Don't worry about it," she said, returning to what she was doing with her brother earlier.

'What a cautious lady,' I thought as I looked at her.

"Come on, give it a shot. Riding a bicycle is enjoyable. I can teach you at that football field near your shop" I persuaded her again and again.

I purposefully chose the field because it is close to her shop in case she does not trust me.

She noticed I wasn't giving up and that I wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

"Alright, I have heard, but I won't be free all week, so maybe Saturday around 9:00 AM, we'll meet at the field," she rolled her eyes and muttered.

It was like winning the Grammy or the Oscar award, ladies and gentlemen.

My heart was thumping with joy, but I forced myself to control my emotions so I wouldn't come off as a simp in her eyes.

To learn her name, I used the false thought strategy, "Alright, um…."

"Precious," she told me.

"Alright, Precious, see you then," I said.

I rode my bicycle away and went home; that's how I got to go on a date with her, but this feeling didn't make me slack off because I started drafting out my plans on how to win her heart.
