"Why?" Nia asked Elaine.
"Why? Well it's somewhat complicated. It involves the way of how you all were born?" Elaine asked and caught the attention of not only Nia but the other two girls who were being carried by their maids.
Elaine continued talking before anyone else could even open their mouths, "But, I won't say anymore than that.~"
"Hehehe" Elaine giggled seeing the faces of the three. Annoyed Cassandra, Nia, and Naomi turn away and ignore her.
Not bothered by them she then tells them, "If you want to know more, then there is only one thing you can do. You must win all the trials and be the sole Sin candidate becoming a Sin like me, only then will you be allowed knowledge of the Sins and our family."
"Do you three have any questions that I may or may not answer? But you each get only one." Elaine asked with a slight teasing expression.
"How many trials are there when the grace year is over?" Cassandra asked knowing that is wasn't just her who had this question.
"Good question and the answer to that is I don't know."
"Huh?!"
The three were confused at Elaine's answer. She looks at the confusion on their faces and continues, "There is no determined number of trials since they will continue until there is only one candidate left in each Sin. So there could be any number of trials."
"You said in the announcement that when one loses or dies their Sin energy is pooled together for the final winner, but what if someone dies outside this place?" Nia asked.
"That is something I won't go into the specifics of but all you need to know is that if that happens the energy is automatically transferred to where the Sin energy is pooled to on death of a Sin candidate."
Naomi in a soft voice asked, "What if you don't make it to the trials on time? What happens then?"
"Simple you are brought to the place where the trial will be held by your maids and if you refuse then you die. Simple as that." Elaine said with a small smile on her face face, making what could have been a beautiful scene terrified the three of them.
Rose, Luna, Eris, and Freya frowned slightly at Elaine's words not liking how the conversation was progressing. Upon seeing the girls frightened expressions and how they were shaking, Rose spoke up to Elaine.
"Why are you saying such morbid things to these girls and with a smile no less!" Rose furiously said as she walked close to take Nia from Elaine's arms, while Eris and Freya were calming the other two girls down.
Elaine refuses to hand Nia to Rose so she starts walking slightly faster and stares at her. Nia flinches when she notices Elaine's gaze at her but doesn't say anything and just looks down.
"What's wrong with telling them that? It's perfect motivation for them to be the last one standing for their respective Sins and it also serves as a means to not make friends with the other Sin candidates if you are just going to watch them die." Elaine shrugged turning her stare at both Rose and Luna who were getting visibly upset.
Nia who had heard what Elaine said was brought back to the worst day of her life when she was Ray and watched his sister die in his arms. Nia's breathing became uneven and felt like she was going to have a panic attack, but before that could even happened she inexplicably felt her emotions becoming cold like the few times before.
"It's Okay. You're Okay." Nia murmured to herself so quietly that no other person was able hear her before closing her eyes and falling asleep.
Rose and Luna matched Elaine's gaze and the three of them failed to notice what Nia did. Luna who was silent before finally spoke, "Remember Elaine, we no longer need the protection of your Family of Sins but the other way around. All of us are weakened clones that disguise ourselves as maids so we can protect the future generations of Sins because of our respect towards the Original Sins. We can always leave and wait for the next generation of Sins."
"You...You." Elaine showed visible shock towards the maids before quickly giving up knowing that the anymore arguing will only end with them leaving and her taking a loss.
"Fine I won't talk about this stuff to them anymore, but they are six they need to learn how to be strong and not to hesitate about death in general."
"They are not six, in fact they are not even a month old yet." Rose said to Elaine looking at her as if she is questioning her IQ.
Elaine had a vein popping out of her forehead said to Rose, "No, both arrays that were used aged them and gave them knowledge did more than just that. They are truly the age they appear to be just without a definite personality since they only people they have talked to is their maids. They will gain and complete their personalities as they interact with you all more and go on missions outside this place and meet more types of people."
