I stood under the willow tree, looking out at the pond. It was midnight, and the ringing in my ear wouldn't let me sleep. Deciding it was best to go for a stroll, I ended up wandering around the pond.

I hummed a tune that had been on my mind for a while. Leaning against the tree, I didn't realize anyone was behind me. A finger brushed the side of my face. Startled, I whipped my head around to see a smirking face.

"Alastair…" I whispered

I smiled and went in for a hug. Before I could wrap my arms around him, I realized what I was doing and stopped midway. Now, I was left with my arms hanging in the air like a dead tree.

He chuckled and grabbed a hold of my arms to pull me towards his chest. I could smell the soap from his skin and the sweet, earthy smell of the leather he wore. I couldn't help but snuggle closer.

After a while, I leaned back and asked, "When did you return?"
