Chereads / A Song In The Wind / Chapter 11 - Chapter 10

Chapter 11 - Chapter 10

I had taken my hat off during the night so that I could feel the wind better on my skin, but now that the sun had risen, my skin had started to burn, and the hat came back on. I watched the animals around the area and heard the people next to me snoring.

Throughout the night, I had wondered about my past self. If I somehow regained my memories, would I become someone I didn't know? Is there anyone out there who knows my past self and is looking for me? I had many questions, but the answers were unknown. No. They were just forgotten.

I listened to the howl of the wind and moved my feet to the rhythm…that is…until…

"Wake! The! Hell! Up! Bitches!" Red screamed

I jumped from my spot and stood in formation.

Red continued hitting Green eyes with one of the furs, and Blue eyes crawled out of his blankets. He looked over at me and reached a hand out before being sucked back in.

"You don't get to escape from me!" Green eyes laughed out loud in his sleep.

I heard Blue eyes muffled screams from the covers as Green eyes suffocated him, all while Red was still screaming and hitting him.

The scene was so random that I busted out laughing. It wasn't until I couldn't hear the others that I suddenly stopped.

"So you do have a voice!" Green eyes yelled out loud

"So you were awake!" Red yelled with one final blow to the head.

"Ack!"

"Anyways, we need to head out. The guard will only be there for a short time." Red said

Everyone packed the bags and saddled their horses.

Blue eyes looked over at me and said, "Keep up if you can."

And with that, they left me.

I climbed the tree next to me and jumped from branch to branch until I caught up with the horses.

I kept up pretty easily.

Green eyes was the first to notice me. He had to do a double take and almost fell off his horse from the shock of seeing me.

When Red saw me, she simply laughed and kept riding.

Blue eyes was confused but didn't say anything.

As I followed the group, I noticed something strange. For example, Red and Blue's eyes followed Green's in whichever direction he went. If he went right, then they all went right, and vice versa.

I kept pace with the horses until we made it to a bridge that connected to another land.

I looked over the cliff and saw an entire world under us. I could see the tops of trees far below and the clouds gliding over them.

I backed away and searched for the group talking with a guard.

I tried following them over the bridge, but the guard blocked the entrance.

"No entry" is all he said

I clasped my hands together and held them in the air as a plea.

Please!

He shook his head, and I raised my hands closer to his face. He moved my hands over, accidentally skimming the hilt of my sword, and then he flew to the side, nearly falling down the cliff. I looked down at the sword and shrugged.

Mind over matter!

I walked onto the bridge and crossed as quickly as I could. The group had gone a bit further, so I ran to join.

They all stopped as they saw me.

"How…?" Red looked back at the missing guard.

Hopefully, he didn't fall over…oh! I see a hand!

The guard lifted himself over the cliff.

"Do you guys think he'll still keep this a secret?" Green eyes asked

The guard whipped his head over at us and glared.

"Nope! Run!" Red yelled

I followed them into what I would soon learn was the Falling Sky Kingdom.

We walked through a small forest before entering the city, where people were selling fruits and trinkets to the public. People wandered around as they pulled people to see the nearest entertainment. They laughed and yelled with excitement.

I looked back to the group who had bought bright colorful ponchos to cover their clothes underneath. They even bought one for me as well! Although it was white like my scrap clothes, it did make me look neater.

Green eyes swiped my hat off, and I went to grab it back. As I reached a hand out, Red placed another hat on top of my head.

"We know that you are sensitive to the sun, but you can't bring us attention with this bird's nest on your head." That is all she said

I tilted my new hat, which was a replica of the one I made myself—a large straw hat that kept the sun from touching my skin—only it was much nicer and more sturdy.

I followed the group until they pulled me behind a wagon.

"Shh," all Red said as she tilted her head back a bit to listen in.

"There are rebels here? You let them in?" A voice called out

"N-n-no, sir! I was uh…pushed away…by a strong wind a-and…they..got..in.." their voice got smaller with each word.

"So what you're saying is that his majesty hired fools and weaklings for guards?" The voice asked

"No, ma'am! My underlying here was just a bit distracted."

I looked back to see what was going on through the gathered crowd.

The guard from before kneeling over on the ground as he begged for forgiveness. Another man stood next to the ground, kneeling on one knee to two people in front of them.

How did that guard get here before us?

A woman with long black hair and dark eyes wore skin-tight pants and a long-sleeved dark-colored shirt.

Next to her was a man with long black hair, perhaps a bit longer, but it shined a blue tint under the sun with light blue ends. His white and blue clothes flowed around him, giving the impression of the wind itself. What really caught my eye, however beautiful this man was, was a single earring on his right ear. A striking deep red of a heart with flames surrounding it. It was such a strong contrast with the rest of his outfit. Whenever he moved his head, the gleam of the red earring would nearly blind me. His silver steel eyes whipped in my direction, but I had already hidden back behind the cart.
