Chereads / A Kitsune in remnant / Chapter 44 - Meeting a rosebud in the city

Chapter 44 - Meeting a rosebud in the city

As we stepped out of the ice cream shop, Trivia was enjoying her ice cream. Licking it every few seconds to not let it melt.

After all, letting an ice cream melt to a liquid state is a heresy that no person should do. I was also enjoying my ice cream as well.

"So, I didn't ask, but which academy do you go to?" I asked Trivia, since I was somewhat curious.

Only to see her look down in sadness, with a small scowl on her face. She began to type furiously at a quick pace, erasing small errors.

"It's just some dumb private academy for girls, I wanted to leave my family, but they decided that I should just learn to be refined, elegant, and normal." The last part she typed got me even more curious.

"What do you mean normal?" Hearing me ask that, Trivia smiled and placed her fingers on one of her eyes.

Removing a contact lense, instead of brown eyes, one was pale pink, while the other was brown.

"Woah, that's so cool." Bro was taken aback at my words, blinking in surprise. Only giggle quietly, her hand over her mouth to show what she was doing.

She then typed once more, smiling at what I said, she then knelt down to my height and turned her scroll.

"No one has ever said that, that's cute you think that my eyes are cool." She grinned at me, wiggling her eye brows.

"W-well, I think it makes you unique. It makes you, well, you." This time, Trivia didn't say anything, only stare at me in shock.

She then stood up and typed once more, but then stopped and rubbed her eyes. She then finished typing and soon showed me her scroll.

"Thank you, have a good day." She then walked away, her back facing me and slowly enjoyed her ice cream.

I was confused on why she left so suddenly, but I felt someone's hand on my own, seeing Blake, Sienna, Ilia, and Glynda behind me.

"And where have you four have been?" I asked, three out of four smiled, leaving Glynda with her unamused look.

"Watching from afar, you did good on paying for that girls ice cream." Sienna teased while ruffling my hair, I only shoved her hand away,

"Well, it was my fault that I bumped into her." I muttered, I then turned to Glynda and then at Blake.

"Did you ask her to take you guys away?" I turned to Blake, who hid her mouth behind the ice cream.

"….No." I didn't bother to interrogate her for long, since she would just deny it until I agreed.

"Fine, but since we're done getting ice cream, we should be heading back now, right Glynda?" Glynda could only nod her head, and began to lead us back.

Staring at her, I could only feel annoyed with her attitude, she was too strict and was most likely a teachers pet when she was in school.

'That ass on the other hand…' Looking at her pencil skirt, it clung to her a bit too tight, revealing some curves.

I shook my head to remove those thoughts, since I couldn't act like a pervert, I still have morals and I wouldn't do such a thing.

However, before we could arrive at the docks, both me and Blake heard a girl sniffling. The two of us rushed away from the group, causing Glynda and Sienna to panic.

As the two of us followed the noise, we found a girl with black hair and red tips, wearing a short sleeve t-shirt with black shorts.

Her hands were rubbing her eyes, and tears fell down her face. While at the same time, she whimpered and called out to someone.

"Daddy, Yang, where are you? I'm scared." Hearing her cry, Glynda was the first to arrive by her side.

"Shhh, there, there little one. Can you tell me your name?" She said with a genuine smile, the girl soon looked at Glynda, sniffling a few more times.

"M-my name is R-Ruby R-Rose." Hearing the name, I saw her eyes showed a small amount of pain and regret, but it soon disappeared just as fast.

"I see, what a lovely name, why are you all alone?" Glynda asked while kneeling down to her height.

"W-well, m-my daddy told me and my s-sister that w-we were buying cookies…" Glynda then pulled out some tissues and placed it on her nose, wiping off any snot that was running down her nose.

"A-and I was l-looking at s-some weapons…" Her voice became quiet once again, with fresh tears spilling from her eyes.

"It's fine, what is your fathers name?" She asked Ruby, after a few more seconds, she looked back up, sniffing.

"T-Tai Xiao long." Glynda just sighed and turned to us, staring at me and Blake specifically.

"Can the two of you stay with her, I have to call the head master to gather information." Both me and Blake agreed, trying to comfort Ruby.

While Ilia and Sienna stayed behind, keeping an eye on the three of us. Not wanting any human get too close, Sienna herself was already annoyed by Glynda following us.

But now that she had to keep an eye on a human, she made sure she kept her annoyance hidden, since Ruby looked younger than us.

Blake tried start a conversation, but it ended with her standing behind me. So it was up to me to comfort her.

"So, what do you like?" I asked, trying to make her comfortable with the two of us.

The second I asked that, her eyes brightened and her hands pulled out a magazine. On the cover it was showing different types of mecha-shift weapons.

"This is what I like, all these cool weapons are so amazing!" Seeing her talk about weapons was something unexpected, but seeing her bright smile, I couldn't say anything to stop her.

"I see, which weapon do you want to use?" I asked her, she then put the magazine away and pulled out a crumpled up piece of paper.

"T-this is the one I drew." Seeing the paper, it was a crude drawing of a large scythe. On one end, there were two blades.

The large one was the same as normal scythe, while behind it was a smaller one. In between the two blades, there was an arrow in the middle, with the word barrel onto the side.

On the center of the staff, was a small slot with a bolt to the side. And underneath it was a magazine.

"So, you want to use a scythe and a bolt action rifle as your weapon?" She nodded her head furiously, somehow making it blur.

"Yeah, I want it to use a scythe, so I can go whoosh, whoosh, watta!" She did random poses, like a martial artists using a staff as a weapon.

Blake only giggled at Ruby's actions, finding it cute on how she acted. While I just smiled and joined her in the pretend fighting.

"Roar, I'm a Ursa!" I shouted, causing Ruby to squeal, only for her to stop and look at me with determination.

"Stop right there you horrible Grimm, you are in front of the strongest huntress, Ruby Rose!" She shouted and began to pretend to wield her weapon.

Seeing us play with one another, Blake decided to join. Having the two girls team up against me.

We giggled at laughed as we played, the two of them were the saviors of remnant, while I was the big and scary Grimm.

We spent the entire time playing with one another, our imagination soon caught the attention of other kids.

Where the little ones acted like huntsmen and huntresses, while I acted as the Grimm. It was a sight to behold since humans and Faunus were playing with each other.

This was the dream my dad wanted, both humans and Faunus co-existing. The fun soon ended when I heard a voice, shouting at Ruby.

"Ruby, Ruby where are you?!" Hearing the voice, Ruby stopped chasing me and turned to the voice.

"Daddy, I'm over here!" She shouted and ran towards a girl with yellow hair and lilac eyes.

"Ruby, your okay!" The girl smiled when she saw Ruby, hugging her tightly, causing Ruby to flail her arms.

"Yang… too tight… too… tight!" She wheezed, however, the now named Yang didn't let up. Instead, she kept hugging her and not letting her go.

"I'm not letting you go, you were missing for two hours!" The sound of running footsteps was soon heard, and we saw a man running.

"Yang, did you find Ruby?!" Shouted the man, he has blond hair, while his eyes are blue.

He scooped the two girls in his arms and sighed, smiling and shaking. I could hear his breath shivering as he exhaled, as if he was relived to find Ruby.

He then knelt down, while Yang held Ruby tight. The man began to check for any injuries on Ruby.

"Ruby, I'm so happy your safe, where were you?" He asked calmly, Ruby only looked down with shame and guilt.

"I-I was j-just looking at the dust." She whispered, barely loud enough for the two of them to hear.

"Look, I know it's cool, but you have to stick with us, not just walk around by yourself, what if someone took you?"

"But I wasn't by myself, I was with Aiko." Hearing my name, Yang and the man were confused.

"Who's Aiko?" Yang asked.

"Hello!" I called out from behind them, causing the man and Yang to turn around in surprise.

The man threw a punch towards me, only to widen his eyes at the last second. He couldn't slow down his attack, since the distance between me and his fist was small.

However, I only tilted my head to the side, dodging his punch completely. I looked at his fist, then back at him.

"Is that how you greet people in vale?" I asked him, only for him to stutter, he tried to come up with an excuse.

"Then let me say hello." I smiled, I raised my fist and punched him, only to cause him to stumble.

"Well, I guess you got a fist full of pain." I said with a smile, causing Yang to snort.

"F-fist full of p-pain." She snorted, but then began to laugh.

"I-I deserve that." Groaned the man, he coughed a few times then pushed himself up.

Tai, what in remnant happened to you?" A familiar voice asked, looking behind was Glynda.

With Ozpin in tow, seeing them, I acted all innocent and stood next to Yang and Ruby. I raised my hand and pointed at their presumed guardian.

"He tried to punch me." The two of them looked at the man, who soon stood up. He was patting himself down and soon saw the two adults looking at him.

"Uhhh… what did I do?" Glynda then walked up to him and slapped him.

"Tai Xiao long, you nearly injured a child." She hissed quietly, making sure no one heard her.

"Well, wow that kid can punch, he somehow is fine." The now named Tai said while massaging his jaw.

"D-did I do something wrong?" I pretended to ask, making sure I look guilty.

"No, little one, you did nothing wrong." She smoothed her skirt so she could bend to my level.

Patting my head in reassurance while running her hand across my ears. "In fact, you taught the man a very important lesson."

Tai only sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, while Yang and Ruby giggled at what he did wrong.

"Yeah, yeah, always be aware of your surroundings." He then knelt down at me and held out his hand.

"Sorry about that, also, this is how you greet people." I only smiled and grabbed his hand, shaking it.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Aiko." Tai chuckles at my introduction, smiling as he introduced himself back.

"Nice to meet you Aiko, and thanks for finding my daughter."
