Chapter 3 - Hunting

He woke up once more. This time full of energy. The purple pebble still in his hand. He stepped out of the cave he had made home last night, and stared at an unfamiliar scenery. He knew not where he was. It didn't matter though, a new area just meant a new adventure. It was a place just waiting to be explored.

His stomach rumbled. He was hungry, very hungry. His hunger a sharp contrast to the energy and strength he was infused with. He walked out the entrance and and his head grazed the caves opening, only then did he realize he had grown taller, muscular too. Before he was a stick now he had more meat, more muscle. Where the meat came from? He didn't know. He didn't care, it was time to hunt.

The sun had risen a little more than when he first woke up in the morning. No longer was its light obstructed by the towering trees from his cave. He had lit the fire now, grilling his meat on a stick. A spark of inspiration came to him. Making the fire was easier, faster. Hunting wasn't even hunting anymore. Previously he would need to make a trap, hide somewhere, and if the prey fell into the trap good, if not plan b. Plan b either failed and had him running for his life, injured, or dead or with food and maybe some injuries. Plan b was throwing his makeshift spear at the animal or getting up close and personal. This time was different, vastly different. He's been different ever since that night. He could hear his prey before he could see it. He sniffed the air, smell it. He was almost certain what animal it was, how many feet it had. Then he ran. Something told him the previous way was a waste of time. He simply ran. The animal heard him coming surely. It made its mind to ran, but a couple leaps and it was already in his hands. A twist of his hands and it was dead, it's neck broken. Hunting was so much easier than before.
