Mom's sitting in the sofa with the TV on in the news channel, she's not watching though. She's writing in her laptop with her headphones on. I'm not sure why she turns on the TV when she isn't even watching.
'There has been another dead body found under the Anala bridge this morning.
It was reported by the three teenage boys who came down under the bridge when they noticed a foot coming from the side of the river.'
I got up and walk towards mom, I sit beside her listening to the news. I think there has been 3 dead bodies of girls this month. All of their ages ranging 13-17, each was brutally assaulted, and tortured.
'The boys said they were welcomed with an unpleasant smell coming from side of the river when they decided to go down to check.
The body was inside a garbage bag, while the foot of a young girl coming out from the hole of the bag.
The body has been identified as Sherly Beverly; 15 years old.'
I can see how twisted the people who do those kinds of things, but it still bothers me a bit having those crimes in our town. People have been so paranoid this month because our once quiet and safe town, is now being the center of the news.
I don't really care about it that much, but a part of me feels bad for the girls. Maybe it's the part of me that still makes me a bit normal. I firmly believe that it's because I was raised by my lovely mom.
"Honey, would you make me a cup of tea?" Mom removed her headphones and let it rests on the back of her neck. I nod and walk towards the kitchen to make her tea.
"Green tea?" I slightly raised my voice so she could hear me from the kitchen.
"Yes, put some honey in it."
I walk back to her to give her the tea. I slowly put down the cup on the table in front of her and told her I'd go back to my room now.
I took the kitten in my hand before entering my room. I closed the doors behind me and lay the kitten down on my bed.
"What should I name you?"
I hold the kitty down up to see, and it's a girl. I don't know how to name a pet; this is the first time I ever had to name an animal. Feels weird to be responsible of this living thing. Maybe I can just name her tomorrow, she's still a baby so a day without a name shouldn't be that big of a deal.
It's only 9:00 in the evening, and I don't feel that sleepy yet. I take my laptop inside my bag and starts researching about human eyes. I don't know what's with it that I love about.
I like thinking about it, but I know I will never do illegal stuffs just for collection. I just admire the idea of it. I suddenly remember Mona's eyes. She's beautiful, not just her eyes. It's just a bonus to her appearance. Staring at her eyes are like being hypnotized. Her gaze feels like I can get drunk with it. Her curly long black hair adds to it, I guess.
I hear my phone ringing; I forgot where I left it. I followed the sound of ringing, and it was inside my bag. Mona's calling, what a coincidence—I was just thinking about her. I forgot she has my number.
"Jake?" I hear her panting, as if she was running.
"Hey, you okay?"
"No, I saw something."
"What do you mean you saw something? Where are you?" I'm so confused right now. Why would she call me about seeing something. No, why would she call me about anything.
"No Jake, I saw Victoria getting dragged inside of a mini-van." I immediately thought of the news.
"Are you still there? Did someone see you?"
"No?" She pauses, "I think?" So, she's not sure whether someone saw her. I don't know why I'm so worried. Well, I think it's normal, it would be shitty to see her on the news, dead.
"Where are you? Go somewhere public, where many people can see you and wait for me." I reached my pants from the drawer and put it on. I keep the phone in between my ear and my shoulder.
"Yeah, I ran immediately ran as they left. I'm gonna go wait you in the food park." Then she hangs up the call.
I told mom I'm gonna go pick up someone cause I'm worried, I didn't lie about it, Mom would understand. I rushed outside, took my bike, and went to the food park. It's not so far from our apartment, so it shouldn't be too long of a ride.
