Keiran and Concordia had marked the Migratory Birds with the Scorpio System. This allowed them to utilize the Ecological Trace Mode Functionality and thus track the Birds as they migrated through the Desert. They could now see through the eyes of the Birds as the Birds migrated through the Desert. The Birds halted their migration whenever they came across an Oasis and spent their time feeding. After feeding, they continued on their journey.
The Migratory Birds came across four different Oases before finally making it to the Coast where Keiran and Concordia could see the Mountain Of Olympus. The first and second Oases were relatively safe however the third and fourth Oases were surrounded by the Weaver Of Calamity's forces. Keiran and Concordia drew Maps of the Desert as seen through the eyes of the Birds. By measuring the altitude at which the Birds flew via the Ecological Trace Mode Functionality, they were able to scale to the distance between the Oases at ground level.
"We've mapped out all the Oases we'll need to migrate to before finally making it to the Coast. Now we need to ensure that we have enough resources to make the first trip. We need enough food and Water for ourselves and our livestock. To ensure we have enough to feed ourselves and our livestock, we need to know the exact number of our livestock as well as how frequently they feed" Keiran stated.
"We'll also need to measure the livestock population and how frequently they feed against the length of time our migration will take. Aside our livestock, we need to know the human population as well. Calculating our required food supplies shouldn't be too difficult since all humans require roughly the same amount of food daily. We'll need to calculate our daily consumption rate and measure that against the length of time our migration to the first Oasis will last" Concordia noted as well.
Keiran and Concordia were currently speaking with the Chief Daniel VIII and his elders.
"First of all, I need to know something. What is the average speed of your Camels in Desert Terrain?" Keiran asked.
"In Desert Terrain, our Camels can travel at an average of three to four miles per hour" Aera replied.
"Well, the nearest Oasis is about two hundred and eighty eight miles from here. Taking that figure into account, a pessimistic estimate says we can make the journey in about four days. We'll use this estimate as our benchmark to calculate how much food and Water we'll need for the journey" Keiran calculated.
"For now, why don't you number each of your livestock? Group them according to species. We need to know the total number of each species. We'll use that to calculate the required amount of feed we need to take with us on the journey as per their preferred diets. We should also be able to estimate how much Water we'll need for each category of livestock" Concordia suggested.
Thus Daniel and his people got to work numbering their livestock. They also took a census of the Village and discovered that the people numbered roughly about fifty thousand. While the people of the Reborn Azure Dragon House were living in the Oasis, they had farmed the areas around it cultivating various grains such as Maize, Corn and Barley. They had also grown groves of Palm Trees.
"Since our people number in the fifty thousands, we need to know for starters the average amount of food consumed by a healthy adult male. Multiply that number by three to get an idea of how much a healthy adult male consumes per day. Then multiply the new figure by the total population to get an idea of how much the entire population might eat in a day. Finally, multiply the new figure by the number of days we'll be journeying towards our next destination and you have an idea of the total amount of food required for the human population for our journey to the first Oasis. I'm assuming a healthy adult male consumes an average of 2.5l of Water per day. Multiply that figure by the total population and multiply the new result by the number of days we'll be journeying to get an idea of how much Water we'll need to take on the journey for the Human Population" Keiran gave instructions to the elders.
"It's a similar calculation to determine the amount of food the livestock will require for the journey. You need to figure out how much each species consumes per day with regards to Food and Water. Multiply their daily consumption rate by the total population per species of livestock and finally multiply the new figure by the number of days we'll be embarking on our journey. Once you've got the numbers down, the next step will be to harvest and preserve the foodstuffs we'll need for our journey till we're ready to commence the migration" Concordia advised the elders.
The elders got to work figuring out the numbers. Once they had the figure for the average consumption rate per species of livestock, they multiplied that figure by the total population of the entire species. The new result was then multiplied by the estimated number of days the journey would last. A similar method was used to calculate the amount of Food and Water the Human Population would need for the journey as well.
