We listened to my parents as they taught us more.
"To begin, there is one more thing you need to know. It's how the Pyrostellis Luminares links Minds" my Dad said.
"This is achieved through Neurone Bonding right?" Ariel asked.
"Yes and this brings us to the topic of Neurones. Neurones are basically Nerve Cells that circulate throughout the Nervous System. They are responsible for transmitting Sensory Impulses from the Outside World to the Brain. Neurones that achieve this feat are collectively termed Sensory Neurones. Then there is another set of Neurones that exist to transmit Motor Impulses from the Brain to various Muscles and Joints in the body for movement of particular parts of the Body. Neurones that achieve this goal are collectively called Motor Neurones" my Dad explained.
"If you wanted to simplify the Pyrostellis Luminares' abilities, you could say it has the ability to share Cognitive or Conceptual Knowledge as well as Motor or Physical Ability amongst linked Souls. Cognitive Knowledge is shared via Sensory Neurones of linked Individuals. Physical Ability on the other hand is shared by bonding the Motor Neurones of linked Individuals" my Mom explained.
"Is that even possible?" Ciella exclaimed in awe.
"It is. Neurones are collectively linked by Pathways of Nerve Cells. These Pathways allow Electrical Impulses to move from Nerve Cell to Nerve Cell. When a person is unfamiliar with a particular task, the Neurones dedicated to processing that task are few and because they are few, the Pathways for Electrical Impulses are longer. You can think of it as a Super Highway of sorts. As a person practices a particular task repeatedly achieving some level of Mastery over that task, more Neurones dedicated to processing that task are formed and this shortens the Pathways through which the electrical impulses flow. By the time a person achieves Mastery over that task, the Neurones dedicated to processing that task are enough such that the Pathways for Electrical Impulses to flow are short enough for the Brain to bypass Cognitive Memory and process that task solely via Sensory Memory. This is how Skills are transformed into Reflexes" my Mom explained.
"I see" I realized what they were getting at.
It was reminiscent of the training Concordia had me undergo in my Gramps' Castle to master my Physical Ability.
"Now imagine this, Neurone Bonding amongst multiple Individuals can be likened to taking snapshots of their Brain Activity and overlapping the images. Some people would have developed Mastery over tasks that others haven't so some would have more Neurones in a part of their Brains and Bodies that others don't. A person who has Neurones dedicated to a specific task can share their ability with another person who doesn't by stimulating parts of the Brain of the inexperienced party through performing that task while they are linked via the Pyrostellis Luminares. This action creates pathways between the Neurones in the inexperienced party's brain and body by generating more Neurones dedicated to performing that specific task. To share Cognitive Knowledge, corresponding Sensory Neurones in the experienced and inexperienced parties' brains are stimulated telepathically via their link. To share Physical Ability, it is the Motor Neurones that are stimulated however this can only work if the inexperienced party has an equivalent level of Physical Strength to the experienced party. How the Pyrostellis Luminares balances Physical Ability is still a mystery but one of the ways it overrides the Psychological Strain associated with this process is via Wavelength Harmony" my Mom explained.
"Wavelength Harmony? You mentioned that before. What is it?" I asked.
"To put simply, every person has an affinity for a particular element. Every element has an infinite variety of Wavelengths. These varieties of Wavelengths are called a Wavelength Range. This Wavelength Range determines the degree of Mastery an Individual has for a particular element. Since every element has an infinite Wavelength Range, there are adjacent Wavelength Ranges for every element. These adjacent Wavelengths allow the elements to transition in form to other elements that have adjacent Wavelengths matching that of the element. By linking affinities via adjacent Wavelengths, one can bypass the strain caused by linking to an incompatible Wavelength" my Dad explained.
