Saito and Ariel returned to their Peristylium after exploring a vast area of the Sea and expanding their Ocean Maps by quite a bit.
Saito sighed.
"We've still come no closer to finding a new continent and we tend to exhaust our harvests before making it too far out to Sea. We might need to realign Planting and Harvesting times again and create custom habitats for multiple varieties of Plants and Animals to allow them to produce food in an almost perpetual manner" Saito said.
"You intend to simulate custom seasons within each habitat in order to align harvesting periods so that when one crop variety is in the process of budding, another would be in the process of fruiting?" Ariel asked.
"Exactly. To do that effectively, we'll need to rear animals and insects that contribute to pollination within each custom habitat. Animals and insects that are not harmful to us or the crops such as bees and butterflies would be prime but if we're going to rear bees, then we'll need protective gear to avoid stings" Saito said.
She assigned a portion of the population assigned to architecture to the construction of custom habitats, each with a unique season and soil conditions that matched the natural habitat and preferences of specific crop types. She also assigned a portion of the population assigned to Agriculture to the rearing of Insects and Animals that contributed to pollination without necessarily destroying the crops.
"While they are busy with construction, there's a bit more we need to do" Saito said.
"Like what?" Ariel asked.
"We'll need to advance the Peristylium's Economic System by quite a bit" Saito said.
"How should we go about it?" Ariel asked.
"Firstly, we'll use the Gemini System to create a Database of all the Goods and Services produced by our Peristylium. Then we'll use the Scorpio System's Ecological Trace Mode to map those Goods and Services to their Producers" Saito said.
"I think I see where you're going with this. After that we'll create a sort of Report System where citizens of the Peristylium can report their needs right?" Ariel asked.
"Exactly, every member of the Peristylium will be able to report their needs and we'll also have a record of the Products and Services the one who reported the need provides. We'll then match that data against other members of the Peristylium that provide services needed by the one who reported their need and at the same time attempt to match that Producer's needs to other members of the Peristylium who satisfy that need. That way, we can align Consumers and Producers that have the potential to sustain a Symbiotic Relationship. The final thing we'll need to achieve is to add a value system measured in priority values where the need each member of the Peristylium has is measured against the service and product they provide. When the priority value of the Consumer's need matches that of the Producer and their Needs and Services align, a Symbiotic Relationship will be established. That way, every member of the Peristylium that needs a particular Service would be able to create a sort of Contacts List of other members of the Peristylium that need their Services and at the same time satisfy their Needs. Through this System, we can establish a completely Symbiotic Economy" Saito said.
"I'm impressed big Sis. Never would I have imagined that the Barter Trade System we've always considered as primitive could be this formidable" Ariel said.
"You can learn a lot about Economy simply by studying Ecology and how other life forms interact with one another. Ecology is all about Economy after all. An Economy that exists in the Natural World that is" Saito said.
"That's true" Ariel agreed.
While the Architects worked on building custom habitats for every crop type each with its own seasonal settings in an attempt to align planting and harvesting seasons to generate perpetual harvests via the rotation of harvesting seasons, the Farmers worked to breed animals and insects that were beneficial to pollination and by implication, flowering and fruiting.
At the same time, Ariel and Saito worked hard to create a Database that recorded all Services and Goods produced by the Peristylium. These Goods and Services were matched against needs, then matched against priority values. When these aligned, a match was made and a Symbiotic relationship was established between the Producer and Consumer. One sustained through the exchange of actual Goods. This was the Dynamic Barter Trade System.
When the Custom Habitats and their organisms were abundant, the Architects and Farmers began to integrate them into the Sub Islands that were characteristic of Saito and Ariel's Peristylium.
