After the week passed with relation to XCalibur AOP's time, Bahn returned with his entire village. There were thirty five men in all excluding women, children and the elderly. (They were all included in the party however, they were not counted as part of the predominant workforce). Ciella and I checked the Gemini System's functionality.
"The Gemini System revolves around Operators And Assignments and is one of the fundamentals of logic and management. It can also operate as a 'Treaty/Legacy' System allowing all recognized allies to inherit certain skills and resources from the player. Players manage the Assignment of Skills to NPCs and can direct them to achieve certain tasks. The Loyalty/Morale metre displays how loyal an ally is to a particular member of the chain of command. It is most advisable to assign tasks to members further down the chain of command through characters they exhibit almost unconditional loyalty to. If characters down the chain of command are issued directives through characters they do not feel loyalty towards, production standards will drop and profits will reduce as a result simply put, work will be performed in a sloppy manner" the notification read.
Bahn and his elders settled down to discuss the Terms Bahn and I had spoken of earlier with Ciella, and I restated the terms in everyone's presence.
"If you accept these terms, you will be allowed to utilize our resources and we will serve as Guardians for your people. In return, we will make use of your skill. You can refuse this term at any time but you will also forfeit certain skills and resources we could have assigned to you. If you forfeit, you can still benefit from production for as long as a member of your village participated in production or any related process. How much you benefit will be decided by the participant who fulfilled their quota" I explained the terms.
"Hmm, those terms sound fair. Our freedom is protected, we are allowed to make use of each other's skills and resources and we earn as much as we produce" Bahn's elders said and talked with Bahn for a while.
Moments later, they returned to me.
"We accept your terms" they said.
I smiled.
"That's good to hear. Now let's get started on the creation of some homes for you and your people" I said and opened my menu.
I assigned a portion of my Dreamweaving Skill to Bahn's villagers specific to construction. It went under the name of 'Dreamweaving Ver. Construction'.
"From now on, you can assign directives to my villagers through me. Whether we acknowledge or disregard your directives will be completely up to us to decide. To avoid frustration, it would be best to begin by building up the Loyalty/Morale metre first to reduce the probability for disregarded orders. This can be done by considering the affinities of village members with regards to a task, to team members and by instituting favourable terms of service" Bahn explained.
"I see. Sounds reasonable" I said with a thumbs up. "Me likey".
"For now, why don't you eat something?" Ciella said and brought some food to the guests.
They ate to their heart's content.
"The Dreamweaver Ver. Construction is a version of architecture that allows you to bring conceptualized dwelling places to life. Simply put, it grants you a direct hack to the Game's Design Engine. It's a skill only usable by players who are Dreamweavers or anyone allied with a Dreamweaver. It shouldn't take you much effort to create your dwelling places" I explained to Bahn and his people.
The Loyalty/Morale metre suddenly spiked from zero to thirty percent. It appeared the major cause of the spike was Bahn and his people coming across a peculiar skill that could be likened to magic and their curiousity in attempting to comprehend it. The most exciting part of it all was how they could utilize it without actually comprehending it.
Among the thirty five men in Bahn's village, ten of them were builders. Their excitement and curiousity made them experiment with the skill so much they ended up creating even more settlements than were necessary. I assigned a third of Bahn's men to Farming and granted them the ability to utilize the elements of Wind, Water, Earth, Fire and Light. The reason for the choice of this ratio was a certain Old School RPG played on a special Console designed specifically for Ninja. Also, I knew that no seed ever produces only a single fruit so as long as a third of the entire village worked diligently to maintain the food supply, we'd always have more than enough to eat. The last part of the group were assigned to maintaining the Water Supply and to channel Water purified by Phoenix Tears into the homes of every villager. That was how village life commenced in the game.
In Ariel and Saito's land, the patient they helped came from a village of Healers. Healers were in a sense Farmers. Negotiated terms of service were similar but with slight variations. Ariel assigned a third of her workforce to Farming and maintaining the Water Supply. Five of them were assigned to researching Medicine and were assigned her 'Blaze' ability for nullifying debuffs. They were also assigned knowledge of the concept of a Balanced Diet and how it could be applied to Medicine. Ten of them were assigned to the construction of shelters and the remaining ten were assigned to oversee the others. Saito and Ariel were applying the Principle Of Delegation Of Power. Ciella and I were applying the Principle Of Division Of Labour for the most parts.
When Ciella and I noticed that a particular villager performed poorly in a specific task, we occasionally rotated them into other work areas in an attempt to discover a field in which they excelled and when we found that field, we permanently assigned them to that field until such a time that field did not need much priority, then they'd be assigned to a different task. Ariel and Saito's village also constructed enough shelters in very little time. Leadership, Health and Vitality were the ideals that conventionally became associated with their land. In Ciella's and my land, the conventional ideals were Defense, Balance and Vitality. We achieved our second and thirds goals mostly through a Balanced Diet than through Medicine alone.
In Keiran and Concordia's lands, the patient they helped came from a village of craftsmen that specialized in the creation of technology. A third of the villagers in their turf were assigned to Farming, a third to the Research Of Technology, especially technology that expanded the capability of the land to produce food, to produce and purify Water and the construction of schools to teach the methods through which technology could be created and applied. A third were assigned to construction and the study of Architecture. Open-Mindedness, Foresight, Education, Research, Balance and Precision were conventional ideals for their land. Keiran assigned certain aspects of 'Elemental Balance And Control' to their villagers while Concordia assigned 'Precision, Strength, Stamina and Mental Fortitude' to them.
For Arlene and Mitsuki, their patient came from a land that prioritized Science over Technology. Methodology was prioritized over actual craftsmanship. A third of their workforce was assigned to Farming and maintaining their Water Supply. Since their land was a harsh one, they assigned the remaining workforce to the study of all Science that could increase the productivity of their land and its ability to support the population. Through the principle of 'Antigravity' which Mitsuki had assigned to their workforce, they could create a network of Floating Farms, Farms that floated in Mid-Air and were shielded from adverse Weather Conditions, The Gravity Field was maintained autonomously through Mitsuki's sigil. Productivity wasn't limited to Farming but to all fields of Science of which Communication was their greatest priority. Hence the conventional Ideals for Arlene and Mitsuki's lands were Foresight, Knowledge, Preservation/Archiving, Communication, Vitality and Scale.
