Chapter 19 - SELL ME A DREAM

Alexander has finally buried his father in a sad turn of events while consoling his sister Sophia as well as his father's wife Rebecca who wept uncontrollably.

A host of John's friends were also there to pay their last respects.

While Laura who is seated at the back of Alexander, and his family still cannot get the vision of John that he had from her head.

She wonders if he was in torment on the other side, and had already made research out of curiosity.

The monstrous creature that appeared with him that night in her vision, and found out It was an ancient demon of the Netherworld called the Collector.

It has to take accompany lost souls of mortals down the doomed path when their time has come in quietus.

She begins to ponder on the things he told her that night, whether he would have said more if he had not been in so much agony.

Looking around as every one of those closest to John had great things to say about him.

And while she soliloquizes to herself, she wonders if only they understood the pain John is going through on the other side and if they could feel what he felt that night when she saw the vision of him in chains.

Soon it was her turn to give her speech and she was so far gone she had to be tapped by Alexander

'Laura you ok?' he asked out of genuine concern and Laura nodded her head as she goes towards the podium to read her speech as regards the deceased.

As she spoke she began to see glimpses of John's ghost among the crowd.

At first, it appeared as a beam of dark light which seemed a bit spooky.

But then it fully forms into a human shape.

John's ghost is groaning but he cannot shout and this time around there is a key in his mouth with black blood dripping from his lips.

His bruised body seemed worse than last time, with maggots coming out of it, and by his stands, the collector still dragging him with chains while his eyes glowed red.

Anytime he attempted to speak, he could not as black blood and maggots poured out of his body with little dwarf-like dolls poking at his body with their little swords and drawing out black blood.

Within the twinkle of an eye, there were gone and the vision had vanished.

Laura scared for John knew there were more forces at play and that his soul is in torment.

Regardless, she was able to give the speech to the crowd even though there were many things she wished she could tell the crowd and John's family but she knew they would not understand.

After the funeral, Laura took her time to meet with the family and as well offer her condolences.

It is her family too after all and John is someone they will all miss.

Alexander is okay now but he seems unusually quiet today.

He just sits and stares while his retinue stands behind him.

Laura walks up to him with some milkshake and asks

'Hi Alex' and he responds by saying 'Hi', Sophia is busy attending to John's various friends as everyone pays their last respects.

She and Laura are still not on talking terms and at this point, Laura is confused about what to do to break the ice cause she has tried everything to build the bond but all to no avail.

Laura and Alexander discuss John and the memories he left behind.

'He would not have fancied this much'

Alexander said looking blank

'He was not used to funerals or grieving' Alexander said reminiscing on what happened during his mum's funeral.

John chides him for being too cold and inert and within seconds he snaps back to reality.

'He would have wanted people to be more groovy'

Laura responded to him and further continues

'Old Johny I will miss him'

She said to Alexander with a bleak expression while Alexander just stares into utter space.

Trying to imagine if wishes could bring back the dead.

Orion continues on his journey and his mission, he seemed more intense in it now.

From watching Laura's every move to constantly appearing in her visions and dreams to warn her.

Making efforts to negotiate with the High Lords if he can appear to her himself and even though they remain pertinacious.

Orion has remained dogged in his aim at ensuring Laura is protected.

The Candles Of The Damned Keep scurrying from a distance, they are more in number now with different colors and with fire on their heads.

Orion sees them but he does not care.

He is aware of what they are and how they are waiting to strike at his frailty moment and he is prepared for them.

After he met a mortal stranger on one of his time globs trots and he decided to inquire about who that person might be from the High Lords.

Held the person is Simon.

A descendant of one of Vlada's strong followers and a firm believer in the dark arts and he is warned to keep an eye on him too.

As Simon had already found him first and he is already working on ways to subdue him.

Like the wind, it conquers all

Like a seed, it grows before rainfall

Save me from the man with the vines

He is inside my head and I can't get out

I hope the time comes when the dead are cast

The moment men will no longer have to deal with scars

Save me from the man with the vines

He is inside my head and I can't get out

He is sasquatch and wooly

His influence grows deep from within the sea

With his wings spread so wide for the world to see its depth

Sometimes it glows and other times it falters.

Collins reads out the poetry of the thirteen-year-old boy before him.

The boy's name is Edward and this is his sixth session of therapy but they do not seem to make any headway.

He had injured someone in school yet again.

This time he hit a senior student in the head and the legs with a basket ball-ba.

The student had been a bully of him for a while now and he had finally stood up to him.

This will however not be Edward's first time injuring a student in the class.

He has been very cranky ever since his parents separated.

He became more isolated and vicious in his dealings and no one knew why.

His mother had booked several sessions and even hired several baby seaters, but all had ended in deadlock.

He looked over at the books before him, it was Edward's drawing.

Some were sketched incompletely on the side while some others were delineated and crystal clear in their message.

His teacher had given these drawings to his mum when she found them very disturbing and the mum spooked by them decided to call for help.

Collins realized that these drawings passed across different messages.

He could see the incomplete sketch of a bearded man in a hat whooshing through a big clock and pointing at it while everyone else seemed unaware that he was there.

He sees a hairy man with several arms and very thin fingers extended like vines from all across the habitat and he could see people being engulfed by it, completely gobbled up.

Upon close observation, Edward looked frostbite and exhausted.

He could hardly touch the plate of falafel placed before him.

Edward had refused to speak to no one in a while but his mother thought to bring him to Collins under high recommendations.

She had constantly failed to reach him and is utterly frustrated at this point.

'Hi Edward, I am Spike Collins, and I am here to help you, but you need to let me in I want to be your friend'

He extended a handshake to Edward who all through this period had maintained a deadpan expression.

Edward took his hand surprisingly and said to him.

'I have seen you in my visions, and I am ready to talk'

Curious and puzzled, Collins asked

'Of course, we have been meeting but I need you to talk to me, son

Afterward, Edward took out one of his books and showed him an incomplete image of him holding an umbrella while it rained fire.

What petrified him most about this picture was that he was standing yet he was cut in half.

Suddenly, Edward spoke startling him.

'Look here is another one, I know you now

He said in a more quiet voice now, sounding almost melancholy.

Edward opens another page of his book and he sees his other half holding on to a young lady.

Who like the man in the hat is now pointing to the same big clock whilst the fire rain still falls.

A dumbfounded Collins recognized the lady in the picture and said out in a while per

'This is Laura, how do you know her'

He was a bit perplexed but he kept his cool in front of the child while Edward who now had a somewhat downcast look replied after a few moments of awkward silence

'I have been waiting for the right time to speak, I will tell you everything but you have to take me to her, she is in danger.
