Chapter 17 - SENSATION

Jador stepped into the arena with the tenacity of one who has already won and this gripped Halanda despite her heavy spells of magic as well as her potent sorcery power.

It was the battle of the last man standing and as such, she cannot afford to take any chances.

Jador became a monster on the battlefield, with his self-assurance which many who had come to fight found strange.

Regarding his stature which was not so big but he began to surprise the men and even made the big ones among them think twice as men started to fall at the slash of his sword.

Heads rolled, and blood spilled and spattered all across the bare floor of combat.

Littering the surroundings while men fell, their loved ones wept, while some others took up the fight in their father's stead and still got slain.

Being Zaruci's head of guard was not only an honor for the man who wins the fight.

But his cachet also extends to every flesh and blood related to him.

The atmosphere was a mixture of happiness and gloom, the mother's face lit up in greareliefve when their sons won a round, their fathers cheering them up and shouting

'Awuah makes his blood speak' and the grief that comes from the families of the slain sons while they mourn in silence as their son is being slashed and cut down.

Jador was very fast and nimble, he was also highly dexterous in the use of steel, and he engaged his men in long lengthy duels before finally striking them down to the earth.

The sun gleamed on the men and it seemed as if it too was watching all the action.

it's lightly splattered over the bare backs of men as it drips off on the soil mildly accompanied by triumphant voices of the conquerors as the defeated warriors fell off the end of steel.

Halanda on her end was also busy and was having a splendid time bringing her opponents to the ground.

While in the body of Gilk, she had always felt unstoppable and fierce and this time was not an exception.

Moreover, she had sorcery at her beck and call but she knows how much she must be cautious so as not to get caught.

So she kept on and her opponents were taken down one after the other.

She had no family to come to cheer her on but then there were others like her among the men and so these set of men praised themselves when winning.

This was enough for her to keep going until the moment arrived.

Both Jador and Halanda remained indomitable by the men as they both stood tall among others and kept on having a series of winnings.

Till it was time for them both to face themselves in the duel.

Halanda was a bit taken aback by this development.

One because she did not expect Jador to last this long let alone be the last man standing that she will have to face.

Another thing she did not expect him to be so strong taking into consideration his height as he was not the biggest nor the tallest among the men.

So it became astounding how he was able to take down the giants within during the period of dwelling; she said to herself

'There is something different about this man, and I must find out.

As both men stood facing each other boldly, there were loud cheers of 'Awuah' from the spectators.

As the last ones that are standing, everyone had to pick a side between either of the two men.

Moments later the slashing and slicing of swords could be heard, as the steel also challenged themselves all the way.

The hacking and clattering of blades filled the atmosphere and everywhere became so silent as even the ants that matched on the soil took a moment to watch this iconic combat.

Jador was fast, almost too fast and he had control of his movements in the air, swerving when Halanda in Gilk's body least expects it.

He moved with the speed of an athlete and his reflexes were quite as swift.

it was almost as if he could see Halanda's move before she makes them and thus the fight went on and on with both men being drenched in sweat and blood-soaked garments.

Halanda was getting tired of the human body her soul was in and being that she was already feeling weak and decrepit in the body she dwelled in.

She switched to the use of magic and began to put into the head of Jador the illusions of the things he feared the most which was the fire.

Through the use of her sorcery powers.

She was able to see through him into his past and realized what had kept him alive all these years was that he had a strong will.

His assiduity and persistence at whatever he does have made way for him since he was a kid.

Jador was born in a small setting called the Kuntus to a family of two his father was well fulfilled as a wealthy farmer.

He lived with his younger sister and his stepmother as their mother had passed on while giving birth to his younger sister Jermane.

At the young age of seven, he lost his parents to a fire accident.

Caused by an enemy of his father who wanted the land to himself.

This man did everything to get it even going to the extent of offering Jador's father Maraleth twice the amount of money on the land.

Maraleth stood his ground and refused to sell the land as it was a generational inheritance meant to stay within the family.

This enemy was a rich dubious man whom many people called The Handler.

What dumbfounded him was the way Maraleth stood up to him and how he was not afraid of him like most people.

This also annoyed Handler as he realized that this was the man he would not be able to control or intimidate.

The Handler's real name is not known.

He is an extremely short fair bald man who made his money through the sales of illegal addictive substances.

As well as the purchase of people's properties, having sealed a pact with the corrupt lords of the land.

He had the legal approval to go about his unscrupulous activities after he had of course settled the right sources and made them partners and shareholders in his business.

He was a very private man who is hardly seen except it is very necessary as his men carried out most of his dirty work as well as couriers who sent and delivered his messages.

Turning down his juicy offer bruised his ego more so as he made the offer himself.

In a fit of fury, he assembled his men who are all referred to as the poisons of the handler, and instructed them to slay Maraleth's entire household and then burn the house down to make it look like a fire accident which they did that night.

Sadly Jador lost his parents.

Howbeit he saw the men and knew where the attack came from even though he was able to escape by the skin of his teeth.

Jador as the only survivor left the land of the Kuntus left the land and began to fend for himself till he became great by the power of sheer will and strength.

Having trained himself in the arts of combat and mastered it.

He went back to his land and took revenge with his army, but The Handler was able to escape while his men were slaughtered.

Upon seeing his greatest fear, Halanda was glad she began to torment him.

Conjuring images of his father and his sister in his head bodies already burnt to a crisp, as they appeared at him blaming him for letting them die.

Jermaine's illusions began to ask him why he let her burn, at this point Jador could no longer see the battlefield before him.

In an instant, He was back in his burnt house.

There was fire everywhere and he had begun to feel the heat.

It felt like the house was breathing fire as a Draco being attacked would emit flames.

He saw himself beginning to burn as well and he began to move away from the fire which had now taken life form and was moving towards him directly whispering into his ears the word 'fear'.

At this point, Jador had become perplexed and his blood had run cold.

This was how Halanda was able to have her victory as she struck him in his torso the moment while he was frozen in horror.

Chants of victory and 'Awuah' filled the atmosphere as Halanda's in Gilk's body is being lifted and carried up to be celebrated by the men left.

There had been too much blood already being shed as the battlefield at this point had become a shade of dark red.

Eventually, Halanda had her intentions fulfilled she became the head warrior of Zaruci's army and as such had to be by her side at all times.

Her perfect opportunity had arrived

'Oh how much more delightful can triumph be'

She thought to herself as the body her soul was in is being carried around in celebration.

She is aware her torments will soon come to an end and she feels merry about it.
