Ajax breathed a sigh of relief and let himself collapse on the floor after the gruesome battle with the Tyrant sentry.
[You have accumulated enough mastery to rank up.]
[Proceed? [Yes or no]
'finally!'
Ajax was happy that all his hard work had paid off. He did not hesitate and quickly chose yes.
[Heritage rank up in progress...]
[Congratulations! Your heritage has reached rank 1!]
Ajax immediately opened his system panel to check the changes.

Ajax couldn't contain his happiness anymore and laughed, causing Stella to look at him weirdly. Ajax sat down and enabled void sense; immediately, he felt sharper, and it felt like he had eyes and could see anything inside the 10 meter radius.
He was satisfied with what he received after his promotion. Void sense was an ability he desperately needed because it could save him from potential dangers. With this simple ability, he had improved his overall strength by leaps and bounds.
"Hey, can you stop giggling like a girl and let's go? This place isn't safe anymore now that the sentry is gone." Spoke Stella.
They both continued their journey towards the northern wall. When nightfall came, Ajax took the initiative to take the watch, mainly because he wanted to check his information and his new ability, void sense.
After Ajax slew the Tyrant sentry, he had received multiple notifications. However, he didn't have the chance to check it due to the fact that they were still in constant danger from abominations. Now that they were in a safe place, he could finally check the notifications.
[Congratulations! Host has fulfilled the requirements to unlock System V.2]
[Proceed with upgrades?]
[YES or NO]
"System version 2? So the system has multiple versions? but what could be the requirement? Could it perhaps be the rank of my heritage?" Ajax asked himself.
In the end, he chose to proceed with the upgrades; after all, an upgrade meant that it was advancing. And Ajax liked the improvements.
[System upgrade commencing]
Soon after this notification appeared, the system went quiet for the next 3 hours. Ajax thought maybe this was part of the upgrade. After 3 hours, the system finally came back.
[System upgrade competition] Does the host wish to see the new system functions?
"Finally its finished." Ajax thought. After the system went quiet, he thought it was just upgrading itself, but after 2 hours passed with still no updates, he got anxious, thinking he had made a mistake. He immediately summoned his system to check the new functions.

"A stat panel!" Ajax was pleasantly surprised. After all, a stat panel can give him his detailed info and his status. Having quick access to his status meant he would know if he was inflicted with a hallucination ability.
"So based on my stats, the system placed me at Novice rank." Ajax thought. For some reason he felt very satisfied, maybe because all his hard work is paying off and for once he was acknowledged.

.
When the sun touched the horizon, Ajax and Stella moved again, not wasting any time. After traveling for at least a month, they have traveled at least 70% of the way. The wall now appeared big and mighty.
Ajax and Stella noticed that the nearer they are to the wall, the more they see the ruins of once great cities. On their voyage, they encountered some abominations, which fortunately weren't a threat as they were only awakened ranks. Ajax also increased the proficiency of his abilities.

He discovered that in order to increase his proficiency in the void sense, he needed to meditate and increase his mental strength. Increasing mental strength wasn't an easy task. Meditation increased his mental strength, but it takes time, while another method was to go through something very painful and endure it.
Ajax obviously chose the first option. Ajax didn't need to do the second one because he knew sooner or later it would come for him. In his line of work, pain was very common.
Ajax and Stella took two more weeks before finally arriving at the northern wall. The wall was as massive as they expected, and in the middle was a gigantic door. When they got near the door, it automatically opened for them as if inviting them to go inside.
"Definitely not suspicious and ominous." Ajax tried convincing himself. After hesitating for a while, they decided to move on and went inside.
[The host has entered an isolated space.]
Ajax was surprised by the system message. He had never heard of or seen an isolated space before; even saint-rank people back on earth didn't have any of this. Ajax's surprise was cut short after another system message appeared, and his expression quickly turned grim.
[Warning! The host is in immediate danger! advising the host to leave immediately.]
