Chapter 1 - The Posthumous Birth

9th of June 2013, 11 AM at a private clinic in Istanbul, Turkey, muffled cries of pain and struggle could be heard inside a certain emergency room where a pregnant woman could be seen laying down on a bed with nurses and a doula doing their job in aiding the delivery but weirdly there seems to be no traces of guests that are normally there to support the pregnant woman neither the father of the child, or even the parents of the gravida. After a struggle that lasted 2 hours the baby finally came out and the pained screams finally shut down leaving behind a silence with only the sound of the machines in background and the expectations of the incoming baby vagitus, but weirdly three minutes passed and still nothing could be heard until the doula hurriedly said to the nurse beside her to check the pulse,

"Hurry up and check his pulse and breathing"

Hearing the voice made her break out of her daze and check on the baby's condition only to sigh in relief releasing that he´s breathing normally and turned to say,

"Everything is normal doctor and he doesn´t seem to have any problem, he just still didn't open his eyes"

Liza the doula in charge of the delivery sighed in relief as this was the son of her daughter's friend she was glad he is in good health although more check-ups need to be done to be sure, and about him not opening his eyes its uncommon for Newborns to have late eyes opening but it's not impossible, after thinking this she signalled to the nurse before the later turned to Gizem the mom that just gave birth which seemed to have recuperated a little and placed the baby in her arms while congratulating her, excepting a joyful or at least relieved expression on her face, but what she got to see on this new mom face was nothing but an expressionless look and eyes void of emotions that soon darted towards the baby now in her arms.

Looking at his face carefully she noticed that between his eyebrows there seems to be a birthmark etched in his white skin making her suspect it being a tattoo drawn by some famous artist due to how intricate it was if not for the fact that he had just been born, it had the shape of crescent moon with orbs one above while the other bellow, giving off a mysterious and ancient feeling that can make people stare at it.

Her eyes soon darted off the mark and looked at the baby closed eyes, as if sensing her gaze his eyelids shook slightly before slowly opening revealing two black gems that gawked straight at her eyes and seemed to see right through her as if her most inner thoughts were being read, his deep black coloured eyes looked so mesmerizing as if wanting to suck the world in like a blackhole giving them an irresistible charm.

Looking at her Newborn eyes Gizem expressionless face finally wavered showing signs of hesitation and worry.

After an uneventful afternoon with a bunch of check-ups done to the child and the mother to assure their well-being, at 8.37PM Gizem who was looking at her child couldn't help but shutter while saying in a low voice to the baby in her arms,

"I just can't get used to the way you look at me, I feel totally naked",

sighing she picked up her phone to call her best friend Lia, after a couple of rings the call connected and a worried voice could be heard,

"Giz, how's everything I'm sorry I couldn't make it I just landed 30 minutes ago, I'll get there as soon as can so I_"

Knowing that her friend won't let her talk anytime soon she cut her off saying,

"Chill, everything went well, the baby is in good condition so let's leave it here and continue our talk once you get to the hospital alright"

Hearing her change of tone Liya couldn't help but compare her to her old self, of course she didn't forget to curse a certain person under her breath which was the cause of this whole ordeal, sighing she said in a firm tone,

"Got it, hang in there I'll be there in a moment"

As soon as she finished her sentence the call cut off without waiting for an answer, but Gizem didn't mind she knew full well the impatient nature of her friend. After approximately half an hour hurried footsteps could be heard in the corridor right outside the room where Gizem was laying at,

**Click Clack** *Knock*

After the steps came to stop a knock was heard but without waiting for a reply the doors shot open, a 5'8 woman could be seen entering the room she looks to around 26 years old wearing a suit which couldn't hide her board and muscular build, her long brown hair reaching her back tied in a ponytail and her slightly chiselled face with well-defined features that accented her strict expression gave off a vibe that made her seem more mature, attractive but at the same time making her seem hard to approach.

As soon as she entered the room her brown eyes quickly darted before spotting the back of a woman with silver hair cascading her shoulders till her waist sitting on a chair looking out the window at the crescent moon in the sky shining brightly, she hurriedly went to her side wanting to check-up on her but before she could say a word, she was mesmerized by the angelic face in her arms with his two eyes shining brighter than the moon staring at her, she couldn't help but blurt out,

"How beautiful! "

She kept looking at the baby in a daze until a cold and exhausted voice entered her ears,

"He is quite the weirdo, isn't he?"

Hearing her talk broke her out of her reverie and she tore into Gizem chest hugging her tightly without any regard to her health while voicing,

"It's okay bites me if he is weird or not so long as you are fine, I'm just glad",

A warm fuzzy feeling coursed through her body making some light shine on her hollow eyes, she just started crying as if a dam has broken down, Liya was quite startled by the sudden weeping but as she thought back to the amount of stress her friend went through, a seed of hatred planted itself in her mind while she consoled her friend without uttering a single word and just kept hugging her. After 15 minutes the sobbing sounds already died down with the ladies sitting side by side on the bed as they held baby that looked on this entire bawling session with his gems like eyes with interest without making a single sound, when Liya noticed this, she made a strange expression as she commented, "Is he possessed or something because I mean what kind of new-born remain so halcyon despite all this commo_", realization dawned on her as her expression switched between pity and shock, "Don't tell me there is some problem with his vocal cords!?, inquired Liya with shock clearly apparent in her tone, "Nah, after all sorts of examination he appear to have no problem", Gizem also wore a perplexed expression as she said so, Liya suddenly thought of another important matter, "Giz tell me, what did you name him", she inquired while looking at her friend eyes.

Silence permeated the room as if Gizem was gathering her courage as she stated the following in a firm tone, "I won't Liya, I won't name him. I've already made up my mind"

Liya kept looking at her in eyes for a couple seconds before sighing helplessly, "Sigh, I get it, Dad will take of the paper work so he doesn't show up in any record so it will appear as if he __" Liya paused and eyed the baby before continuing in serious tone "As if he didn't ever exist", Liya paused again to let her friend digest the information, "And tomorrow before dawn I'll take up the road to drop him off to an orphanage, so rest up I'll get going for now as I need to the care of a couple things I'll drop by later tell you details", after saying this Liya got up and hugged her friend once more before walking out of the room.

Gizem gazed at her friend receding back before getting up and looking at the shining moon in the sky for a couple minutes, when she looked back at baby in her arms, she found him sleeping peacefully in her embrace, sighing she started reminiscing about the past couple years, how this year went from being the happiest one of her life to becoming the most tragic and confusing one, the more she remembered the more pathetic and weaker she identified herself to be,

"You know, even though the time we spent together is short from the moment I held you in my arms light came to my eyes, but today I will leave you as I'm incapable of protecting you I might not be able to watch you grow, be there in the hardest and loneliest times for that I'm sorry as you are suffering due to my incompetence, but don't worry as I shall get back to my feet and create a home where I'll be waiting for both of you to come back for as long as I live", while saying this to her son Gizem eyes were filled with tears as she laid on bed with her unnamed son in her arms embracing his warmth and etching it in her heart and soul as to never forget it.
