Jayden's POV
I watch Jada as she walks into her bathroom. She looks so hurt. So sad. Her eyes have always seemed so lifeless but intriguing but today, they were sad.
She seemed defeated.
"Jayden, all I can tell you, is that betrayal hurts. I wouldn't want anyone to go through it." She's said before getting into her bathroom and the words keep on repeating inside my head.
It's obvious someone close to her hurt her and as much as I want to figure out who it is, I can't. Jada never talks about her family or her friends.
She never talks about her life. What she loves or hates.
And I'd kill for an hour of her opening up to me.
She gets into the bedroom drying her hair with a towel and I watch her.
Her long black hair is curlier than normal. I continue watching her until her eyes meet mine.
"I thought you'd be long gone." She says tying her hair into a bun.
"Now that Julian's issue is done, what next?" I ask. She said she wanted to leave. I wanted to tell her I'd go with her but I knew she'd refuse immediately.
"We part ways." She says her voice cold. I get up from the bed and walk towards her. I direct her to sit on a chair in front of her vanity.
I release her beautiful hair and let my fingers run through it. She shuts her eyes enjoying as I look at her through the mirror.
"Where will you go?" I ask not expecting any answer. She opens her beautiful cyan eyes looking up at me.
"I don't know. Maybe we'll leave the country and start somewhere new." She says shrugging and I nod.
"Change is good." I say tying up her hair into one braid. "I wish you could be open with me." I say making her stand abruptly.
"What do you want from me Jayden?" Jada asks defensively, her walls up higher than ever.
"I want to know you better. I want to understand you."
"And I told you don't do it. I told you that the more you try, the more I'd hate you." She says walking towards her bed. "I had a nice time with you but I think you should leave." She says her breath shaky.
"Then what? I'll come back tomorrow to find you gone?" I ask already knowing her answer. "For someone so brave, you act like a coward Jada. Always escaping shit."
I say making her eyes darker than always.
"You don't get to judge me Jayden.
You don't know me and you don't know what I've been through. Stop looking at me like I'm a puzzle that you have to solve."
"Then make me understand. Make me know you." I say.
"Why? Why are you so persistent in knowing me?" She asks after a minute of silence.
"I care about you Jada." I say making her let out a laugh. She looks at me until she stops laughing.
"Go back to your apartment Jayden. This is becoming ridiculous."
I let out a sigh raising my hands in surrender. "Fine. But I'll be back before you know it." I say picking up my t-shirt. I put it on as I walk out of her apartment.
I get into mine and take my phone that I had left on the kitchen counter.
"I'll be there in twenty. Prepare him." I say into the phone. Shawn or Julian might be the answer to my questions. Why Jada is the way she is. I pour myself a glass of whiskey and gulp it down before making my way out of the apartment.
The ride to the mafia base takes a little bit shorter than twenty minutes. I pack my bike at the same time Harry does. He gets out and walks to me. We do our bro handshake and start walking out of the parking base.
"I came to pick my wife and son." He says.
"There's something I need to do for Jada." I say pointing towards the direction I'm supposed to head to.
"So you and her..."
"No, we're partners. Neighbors even." I say and he lets out a laugh. I hear a female voice next to him making us turn to Amelia.
"Hi honey." Harry gives her quick kiss that she responds to before she turns to me.
"Hi, Jayden." She greets and I nod at her with a small smile. I realized sometime ago that Jada doesn't enjoy Amelia's company. She looks around. "You came alone?" She asks and I nod. She turns to Harry and tells him something before turning to me.
"I need to talk to you about something." She says and Harry excuses himself. I look at my watch and realize I'm five minutes late.
"There's something I need to do. Will this take long?" I ask and she looks disappointed.
"It's important. It's about Candice and you're the only one you can help.
" I've never imagined Jada being a Candice so it's always seems foreign when is addressed as such. Jada suits her better. Short but intriguing.
"If it's about her then. Let's find a place." I say making her give me a small smile. We walk towards the training part of the base where Jada and I first fought. Feels like it was a long time ago.
Has she ever told you anything? About the past?" She asks making me alert.
"No. But I know she's had it rough." I answer carefully and she nods slowly.
"Yeah. It was rough. Too rough even but since she didn't tell you I can't too." She says as frustration starts rising. 'Then why did you call me here?' I think in annoyance.
"My family, the former Italian mafia destroyed her. That's what I can say about her family but there's something else." She says and I nod taking it in. I didn't even know Amelia was Italian.
"Seven years ago when they had her, she was pregnant. She gave birth when she was abducted but she was never allowed to see her baby or even touch him. She was told nothing about him. They made her believe that he died." She says but I only stare at her without any emotion.
"My sister Bianca was given the baby to kill him but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She stayed with the baby for almost a week trying to kill him but everytime she wanted to, she couldn't bring herself to do it and so she left him in front of a house. She didn't know who's it was but she just left him there.
Never cared who lived in that house but she thought that by doing so, her conscious would be at peace but up to now it's not. Candice doesn't know that her baby wasn't killed but what we don't know is if he's still alive." She says as tears stream down her face.
I look away from her not believing what she's telling me. I remember Amelia's sister. The pregnant woman.
"How does she feel? She's now pregnant and the same could happen to her child." I say still looking away.
"She paid. Our dad killed her unborn child some years back." Amelia says making me scoff in disbelief.
"She paid?" I ask in disbelief. "She paid." I repeat still trying to think before turning to face her.
"Both of you need to find that child before the same happens to your sister. And I promise you, I can be brutal." I say my voice low. She gasps looking at me.
"Are you threatening us?" She asks. The question makes my blood boil even more.
"Yes. You and you're sister better find Jada's son or they'll be hell to pay for."
I say before leaving her. I walk and find Harry with a small boy that I assume is their son.
"Where's Amelia?" He asks but I walk towards the torture cells not even caring to answer.
Julian better be ready for what's to come.
