Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Greyson Blackstone

The girl boils my blood like no other

For the life of me, I cannot make sense of how defiant she is towards me. This behavior is much different from what it was when we first met. She was respectful and seemed to genuinely enjoy being around me. Which was why I thought that this ludicrous engagement would be simple and quick. Unfortunately, it seems like this is going to be exhausting, great. My phone rang and I look at the screen to see it was Dawn, my sister. "Hello?" I answer, pinching the bridge of my nose and waiting to hear her complain in my ear about something I did as usual. "Have you met with her?" Dawn asks and it didn't take a moment to figure out who she was talking about. My sister has been curious about Sage and me since our Father forced me into an engagement with her. I rubbed the temples of my head. "She's tiresome Dawn, just tiresome."

"Well, I assumed you met with her because of the scowl she was wearing as she stormed out of the wing." She giggled. "I think you've met your match Greyson."

Like if she's a high school student, if the woman I sleep with can't match me, she surely cannot. "Did you call me to speak about Slade or is there something more important you had to say?" I tend not to waste my time talking about useless matters with Dawn because she goes the extra mile with her curiosity.

"Honestly, no." She answers truthfully. "However, I'd love it if you stopped fucking my staff Greyson. I happened to like Professor Daniells. Now that I know she's slept with you even though she's married, fortunately, with no kids, I can't say I'm not going to cringe every time I see her from now on." Dawn hates cheaters, especially since her ex-husband did it and our Father. In her eyes, anyone willing to disrespect their spouse like that is no better than regular scum. This means she'll probably end up disliking me greatly because if I am to marry this child, I refuse to think of her more than someone I am forced to be with. Slade understands that I do not plan on settling down and, even if I were, it would not be with her. Call me scum, but at least I'm honest about it and not beating around the bush.

This was something I was not going to bring up. "Instead of telling me to stop doing that, how about telling them to keep their legs closed when they're around me? I never force a lady to have sex with me, Dawn, and I don't intend to." There's no need for me to do any work when it comes to getting what I want. It's unfortunate for most, but because of my status and wealth, and looks, I won't have an issue with women for the rest of my life.

"Anyways, I hope you explained the strict rules of this College to your students. Not that I'm worried, since she's smart enough to see your true colors." She explains. "However, if you were to fraternize with a student—much less a high school student—this would bring unwanted problems to this campus and Miss Slade would be permanently expelled and you would be fired even if you're my brother."

One of the many rules I haven't followed, if only my sister knew how many college students walk into my office voluntarily. If only she knew that losing my job would mean nothing to me since we are, of course, not short of wealth and our father has several businesses I can work at. "Trust me, I am not low enough to shorten my standards to a teenage girl."

"A teenage girl who is your fiance." She reminds me, her tone serious suddenly. I scoffed. "Not my choice and, besides, the girl practically hates me, which means she's not exactly the one who is willingly going to walk into my room and strip her clothes off."

"Just make sure you're right about that." She says. "Well, I've got business to take care of, I'll speak to you later." Dawn hangs up the phone and I lean back into my chair.

A teenage girl

Please.

******

"Where the fuck is she?" I growled, staring at my watch for the thirtieth time. This girl dares to not only walk away when I was speaking to her this morning but leave me waiting in the car for over half an hour. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if she went home because that's something Slade tends to do.

I've never in my life dealt with someone who vexed me so much.

Out of nowhere, my phone lights up and her name flashes across the screen. I didn't hesitate to answer angrily. "Where the hell are you? I am a busy man, Slade." I'm not sure I've ever gotten this angry so much in my life. She presses a button no one else can press. I am a man who likes to control everything and she is something I can't seem to do.

"Don't get angry with me." Slade hissed into the phone, I hate it when she thinks she can use such a tone with me. "Dawn ran into me and wanted to speak with me about the rules. There is no Professor/Dean relationship. So I am on my way now, but since you're being a jerk at the moment, I'd rather take the bus home."

I scowled, what the fuck Dawn? "Just hurry and get the hell over here, I have to discuss the event this Saturday with you in private."

"I'll just come to your office—oh wait—I forgot you prefer to be naked in there and that's a sight I'd rather not see. And I'd also enjoy not seeing one of my PROFESSORS all sexed up." That's right, Daniells is the Astronomy Professor. That humored me but I held back the grin. "Anyways, I don't need to talk about the stupid event on Saturday. I'm not even going to be introduced as your fiance, so what does it matter anyway?"

Lord, this girl knows how to raise my temperature. I'm fuming with anger at this point.

I decided to stop the approach I had and take it up a notch. "Either you fucking get in this car or so help me, Slade, I will make your life hell. I do not mind getting fired for you to get expelled and, trust me, I'll enjoy every second of it. So get in here or so help me!"

"You don't need to yell!" The door opens. "I'm here."

Slade wears a permanent scowl on her face, one that doesn't suit it. From the moment I met her, I thought she looked superior to average girls. That is also one of the reasons I didn't mind my Father forcing our marriage. At least I know she'd look good next to me and not cause some sort of suspicion.

Her long auburn colored hair was braided to the side, she glared furiously at me with her pale blue eyes, and her lips were pursed. Today she wore a t-shirt that had a strange man's face on it that said: "Trust me, I'm the Doctor". She also wore a pair of jean shorts and sneakers.

She slides inside the car and slams the door shut, then seats herself and crosses her arms.

"Walter, Miss Slade's house," I told him and he started the car. When we began driving to her house, I slipped my eyes at her and frowned. "You need to stop speaking to me like that, it shows disrespect."

"Oh, and it's not disrespectful to invite your fiance to your office and have someone you just had sex with walk out of it? Or force me to take this stupid town car, no offense Walter, you're awesome." She smiles at him and through the mirror, I see him smile and nod his head. It's been months since I've seen her smile directed at me, not surprised she stopped when she figured out I wasn't the guy everyone claims I am.

I snatched her arm and forcibly pulled her towards me. "What I do and who I fuck have nothing to do with you Slade. You have no freedom in this marriage. The only reason I'm even associating with you is that your Mother ran away from her arranged marriage to be with your father. You lost your freedom the day your Grandfather knew you existed and if you don't want your Father and brother living difficulty for the rest of their lives I suggest you stop back-talking me."

Her brows furrow. "I don't mind marrying a selfish bastard like you to help my family, but what I do mind is being disrespected. I'm holding my end of this engagement even though you aren't. So don't you dare tell me to listen to anything you say because I hate you and what you stand for with every fiber in my body."

I tightened my grip and she winced. I quickly released myself. Sometimes I forget how fragile a person can be. I'm a bad guy, but I am not a bad guy who hurts women. Despite how angry they make me. "Saturday you will be representing the Emerson family. Your Grandfather will introduce you there as his Granddaughter. From that moment on, you are in the public's eyes as the future of Emerson, which means from that moment on you are building yourself to be my wife and successor to anything Emerson."

She stays quiet.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you." I apologize. "You just don't understand how your lack of obedience boils my blood. Even so, that was no way to treat a girl." After that, I looked out of the window and went silent so I would continue to keep my cool.

Slade scoffed. "Why is it that as much as I want to believe that apology I can't? Why is it that I can't trust a single word you say unless it has something to do with your families or your sex partners?"

"Whether you choose to believe it is up to you," I informed her because at this moment I was being truthful. Then again, it doesn't bother me that she has such a strong guard over her when she's around me. I'm also glad she sees me for the bad guy I am. I'd rather not have a love-sick puppy attached to me.

I tell her the rest of what she has to know, then we arrive at her house.
