Chapter 8 - An Unfair Conflict

Chapter 8

At the moment on the island of Adeady,

Hytacs have a distinct sensation of presence, but they are unaware of what sort of presence they are experiencing. Because of this presence, High-Captain Andy was compelled to assign the hytacs on the island a mission: to remain attentive at all times and in all places.

In the southwest, far from the sea

When ships 9 and 10 were given the command to depart, they quickly broke away from their formation and headed to the island of Adeady.

While the unknown ship, ship 9 and ship 10, were sailing, they encountered someone they did not recognize standing in the middle of the sea. And because of that, the two ships stopped moving and stared at the person standing in the middle of the sea.

"Is that a Death Prophet?" said a member of ship 9.

"Death Prophet? Does that still exist?" said another member.

It all started with Lili, a fortune teller. Lili was a Death Prophet, which means she read fortunes for the most affluent people who wanted to see beyond the curtain. However, after years of investigating on behalf of others, she began to look for clues concerning her own fate. When death refused to reveal its secrets, she attempted to purchase them with her life. However, the final cost was inadequate.

Death gorged her again and again, always keeping its greatest mysteries hidden. Her envy got stronger. Others could die for all eternity, so why couldn't she? Why must she be thrown back onto the beaches of existence with such monotonous regularity? Why was she unworthy of the one thing that all other living things took for granted? Nonetheless, she would not be disheartened.

She claims to have witnessed the Ancients' battleground in her nightmares several times.

She brought a piece of death with her every time she returned from the tomb. Wraiths pursued her like bits of her shattered soul; her blood became thin and ectoplasmic; and the twilight monsters devoured her. With each death, she surrendered a bit more of herself, and it seemed as though her end was near. Lili hurled herself ever more furiously into death's abyss, focused on completing the one prophesy that escaped her: that someday the Death Prophet would no longer return from death.

Lili's blood has thinned and become ectoplasmic, yet it may also function as the black ink with which she writes her future predictions.

By default, the ghosts she summons with her exorcism are her former incarnations for each death she has suffered. Other spirits or beings, such as ethereal bats, moths, or even wild spirits that she may have encountered during her stay in the afterlife, can be called by her at times.

She may have lost her sight as a result of delving too deeply into her prophesies.

She appears to have a faint spark of life within herself, which attracts shadows and other animals in the realms of death that she explores.

Her attempts to penetrate the curtain of death were so frequent that the souls of people who had just died, both remnant and entire, clung to her in an attempt to be brought back with her. These endeavours have culminated in the creation of a really ugly gown. It is uncertain if this was done against their will.

Lili may have befriended, emulated, or was the "Witch of the Idyllic," a witch who was thought to be not always evil, but her prophesied prophesies were not to be dismissed.

She may have learned her talent and wisdom from a lady only known as "Deaths of Ladies," about whom there are no recorded records—just legends and the few artifacts she left to the then-young Lili before her departure.

Lili appears to have a regal headgear that represents her marriage with death, as well as a formal suit of attire that she reserves for "the times when death is inevitable." She only removes it with remorse.

She seemed to have known Furhur the Shadow Shaman before, knowing his real name and implying that his rituals had been going on for a long time.

She also appears to be drawn to persons who are associated with or have experienced death.

"Who the heck is Furhur?" wondered one of the crew members.

"In ancient times, Furhur was the shadow shaman," the crew member said.

Furhur was a starved youngster when he was picked up by a wandering con artist when he was born in the Chocolate Hills. The ancient con man would tell your fortune for two copper pins. For three dollars, he'd castrate your pig, and for five dollars, he'd circumcise your boys. He'd put on his shaman robes, read from his old texts, and curse your foes for a tasty supper. His weird new child, half hill troll, half... anything else, worked as an assistant, and gave the conman's profession an exotic aspect.

The two travelled across the desolate regions, always one step ahead of defrauded clients and one town ahead of a chasing patronage, until one day the con man discovered that the small youngling could genuinely accomplish what he merely pretended at. His ward possessed a valuable possession. As a result, the young Furhur was shoved in front of the masses, and the trade name Shadow Shaman was formed. As the Shadow Shaman's fame rose, the two traveled from town to town, conjuring for money. The dishonest past of the two eventually caught up with them, and they were assaulted by a crowd of swindled ex-clients. The con-man was killed, and Furhur unleashed his evil abilities for the first time, slaughtering the assailants. He buried his beloved master and now uses his abilities to destroy anybody who tries to harm him.

"That's Furhur," the crew member responded, "but I don't believe the shadow shamans or death prophets are legit."

"But in my village, a prophet is a demon or devil who comes in the sea or appears in a region where no one lives." "But it can't be decided if the prophet is good or wicked," another crew member responded.

While they are staring at what they believe to be the Death Prophet, the air around them shifts, the cloud darkens, and there is lightning. At addition to what is happening, the wave in their location is steadily becoming stronger.

Something began to light up and emerge from the mystery figure standing in the midst of the water while the surrounding darkness worsened. Screaming spirits sprang from that individual and began surrounding the two ships in the water.

"Rune Knights defend our ship," remarked Ship 9's Captain.

"Get ready, Rune Knights, and sacrifice your life to safeguard our ship," ordered Ship 10's Captain.

Each ship had six rune knights who emerged from their ship and began to build a barrier.

"I'm ready," each of the six Rune Knights stationed outside Ship 9 stated.

"I'm set," each of the six Rune Knights outside Ship 10 stated.

The six Rune Knights of Ship 9 chanted "Runic Spell 28: Hexagonal Barrier."

The six Rune Knights of Ship 10 chanted "Runic Spell 28: Hexagonal Barrier."

The captains of the two ships emerged with the Rune Knights, ready to assault the spirits and mystery men. The attack, "Runic Spell 40: Ring of Fire," was commanded by the commander of Ship 9.

Ship 10's commander also attacked "Runic Spell 38: Flame Sphere."

Some rune knights attacked as the two commanders launched their assault.

"Runic Spell 34: Single Fire Release," the first Rune Knight.

"Runic Spell 35: Double Fire Release," the second Rune Knight.

"Runic Spell 36: Triple Fire Release," the third Rune Knight.

"Runic Spell 51: Explosive Bubbles," the fourth Rune Knight.

The fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth Rune Knights all chanted "Runic Spell 54: Colliding Waves" at the same moment.

The unidentified individual was attacked by their strikes, including the initial onslaught launched by the two captains.

The Rune Knights felt their assaults succeeded since they were simultaneous, but they were astonished when the smoke vanished and they saw the enigmatic figure standing motionless and without wounds from the attacks he got.

The unknown man standing there moved his head, and he yelled loudly, and the wave became larger and the wind sped up as a result. While that man screamed, the Rune Knights just covered their ears, and this man's soul disciple attacked. Outside the barrier, the spirits encircled the Rune Knights.

The Rune Knights struggle against the souls as they attack. But nothing happens to the souls when they assault because their attacks do not pain or even leave wounds. These souls progressively infiltrate the bodies of the Rune Knights with each attack.

"Go forth and multiply," the strange man ordered. "Kill the humans."

The mysterious man took a deep breath and yelled, "Get back here, and we'll charge!" The mysterious man sent and swarmed a group of souls to slaughter the enemy Rune Knights. As the souls swarmed, they collided with the bodies of the Rune Knights, and the souls gradually fused with their bodies. The mystery individual produced something in the merger of their souls that prevented each Rune Knight from casting a runic spell.

When the Rune Knights were unable to cast a runic magic, this unknown individual approached them gently. And as he drew closer, the wind became stronger and he whispered "Life Link," and as a result, a peculiar line of aura came out of his body and touched the bodies of each Rune Knight, as if those lines were the essence of their lives. Every Rune Knight who crossed that line lost weight and aged, causing them to die.

When the two captains observed what had occurred to the other rune knights, they promptly commanded the remaining rune knights to remain alive in order to seal their opponent.

The last of the rune knights began to chant a runic spell:

"Runic Spell 13: Chain-Link"

"Runic Spell 15: Sealing Chains"

While the remaining Rune Knights seal their opponent, the two captains begin to discuss the runic magic that will be used to stop them. But, as they prepared for their runic spell, they both pondered if it would be effective against their opponent. They also began to doubt their status as Rune Knights leaders.

"Hey! Are you all right there? Do you accept the repercussions for both of us?" said the captain of ship 9.

"There is nothing we can do; this is the fate of the two of us and the Rune Knights who are now with us; I also know why I was the final Captain picked for this assignment," responded Captain of Ship 10 to Captain of Ship 9.

"Let's simply accept it and show our opponent that he will have a difficult time in our fight against him," Captain of Ship 9 answered to Captain of Ship 10.

While the two captains were conversing, several Rune Knights continued to attack the souls and their unidentified foe. Meanwhile, other Rune Knights who were still within their ship stepped out to assist in the struggle outside. Due to the fear of the other Rune Knights, some of them screamed while attacking, but they were gradually depleted due to their opponent's "Life Link." As though their adversary will do anything different to them.

When two captains saw their men dying again and over, they resolved to speed up their chant with their runic spell in order to find a way out of what was occurring.

The Captain of Ship 9 uses "Runic Spell 29: Tungsten Sealing Chains" to keep the enemy from exiting his post. Meanwhile, the Captain of Ship 10 uses "Runic Spell 55: Whirlpool of Death" to have a heavy attack from the water because they are battling in the sea.

During the captain of Ship 10's attack, they came to a halt and glanced at their opponent, not knowing if he had killed or not. They had just witnessed, heard, and felt a huge explosion.

The captain of Ship 10 collapsed to his knees as he witnessed his ship being destroyed and his men being killed. As a result, the commander of Ship 10 lost the desire to fight and just accepted his fate.

The commander of Ship 9, on the other hand, was prepared to engage the enemy.

"I am Lali, the Death Prophet, who will lead you to the world without end," they heard a terrifying voice and a smile as their adversary removed the head covering.

After Lali finished speaking, the Captain of Ship 9 launched an attack with "Runic Spell 52: Hail Barrage," knowing that the strike would do more than simply leave a scar on the adversary. So the few remaining Rune Knights launched a barrage of varied strikes in an attempt to outpace the adversary.

They perish one by one with each Rune Knights strike, beginning with the six who formed a barrier. The Rune Knights then combat the souls in the sea.

Lali approached the captain of Ship 10 and murdered and ate him before the few Rune Knights left. Lali's power grew as a result, and he instantly flew into the sky and fired a gigantic black ball, striking the surviving Rune Knights below.

When the black ball fell, the Rune Knights fled in an attempt to survive the tragedy.

As the dark ball dropped into the ocean, a massive explosion happened.

Lali, on the other hand, departed happy and delighted with the outcome of the event.
