"Shit shit shit shit shit,"
A string of words flowed from her mouth before immediately healing me with her most powerful healing spell.
The golden glow encapsulated my entire body, but the ravaging daggers made from shadows were too strong to suppress.
"Don't die… please don't die," She begged, tears flowing from her eyes as the dynamic duo helped fend off the hideous Watchers.
This is bad…
Shit… she's making my body weaker with her healing magic… it seems to have some holy mana incorporated into it.
I wasn't ready to reveal my skeletal form to the world yet as that would make people question me even more, drawing even more annoying things to me.
Essentially, I would become a magnet of danger as not only are hundreds of my past enemies attempting to capture or kill me, but there would be intrigued scientists or alchemists as to why I was reborn as a skeleton.
I had no clue as to why I turned out like this either, but I wasn't prepared to know if it meant being chased by the world itself.
Come on… Silas and Albus… you gotta do something…
"Stop… wasting your mana on me…." I heaved through a puddle of blood gathering in my throat and mouth. "Support those guys… cause if they die… *cough* *cough*... we all die,"
Faye, who was frightened by the situation yet desperate to help, immediately understood my words and made sure to gently place my head on the ground.
As she buffed the duo who fended off all of the annoying pests, I looked down at the dagger still penetrating my torso.
They were really stuck deep in there, but I couldn't do anything against them… unless…
Smoke poured from my mouth, sucking out so much mana from me that the pool of blood was pushed out of my mouth by the puke that I heaved onto the ground.
And once I set the smoke screen, I rid my mortal flesh, leaving my skeletal body hidden within the smoke, but I knew the Watchers were still paying attention to me.
Even as my skin disappeared into bits of mana, I could feel their bloodlust scraping against me, pushing the few shadow daggers deeper into my bones.
I gripped them with all my might and then pulled upwards, tearing them out of my bones, but in the process, making my right hand completely unusable.
It had been torn to shreds by the swirling black handles, but now I had a full range of motion with my body that began to heal quickly.
FWOOSH… TING
Just barely ducking out of the way of a singular katana made from shadows, I clenched my untouched left hand and forced it upwards.
Punching the Watcher's jaw felt like I had just punched a sheet of metal, but my real intent was to draw their attention away from their legs as I then swiftly swept them off their feet.
"Die," I muttered before activating [Soul Screaming Flames].
These white flames unleashed a horrific scream that sent chills down every single person within my apartment.
They were that of anguish, torture, and depression… all mixed into one blood-curdling scream.
And then, once I had weakened them enough by practically singing their entire body apart, all that was left was their mechanical skeleton and various metal organs meant for controlling them even past the grave.
It was a truly shitty method of controlling minions as they lost their humanity and became pure slaves meant for the purpose of killing and destroying everything in their path.
"What a sad life you live," I muttered before activating [Hand of the Souls] and instantly reforming my body.
Though in the process, the rest of my mana was sucked out of my body, leaving me just barely alive but limp on the ground.
I couldn't move a single muscle no matter how much I begged for my body to move, leaving me so vulnerable that the Watchers around me couldn't help but sacrifice some of their limbs just to get an inch closer.
Albus was trying his hardest to take over the corpses of the Watchers slaughtered by Silas, but once he lost just a bit of his concentration, everything would revert to zero, and this time, he couldn't control them.
We were fighting a completely losing battle with no sign of winning in sight, so the duo made the best decision.
They had been fighting for the chance to keep my apartment away from the control of these nasty creatures who were once one of us.
But, it seems the time to flee has come again…
Silas picked me up, and Albus, on the other hand, carried Faye with him as we escaped out of my window, shattering it in pieces.
"Goddammit… My stuff," I muttered, staring at the broken window which had Watchers crawling out of it like a popped pregnant spider.
Soon the complex was infested with these things, which began to chase us atop the roofs of some smaller buildings below.
"We tried our best," Silas attempted to comfort me as he knew how attached I had grown to not only the apartment but also the people within the complex.
My neighbors and I didn't talk much, but they were still kind people, and the attendant, who was the nicest person I had ever met… was most likely going to die now upon witnessing so many Watchers.
"Shit…"
"The smokescreen was a beautiful play, so it would be foolish not to take advantage of it," Silas muttered, completely misunderstanding the use of it.
But that was better than them being suspicious as to what a living skeleton was doing lying in the middle of my living room.
"I-I'm so sorryyyyy… i-it's all my fault," Faye cried, each and every orifice of hers leaking some kind of liquid.
Gross…
