Chereads / My Zombie Game / Chapter 26 - Cause or Blessing

Chapter 26 - Cause or Blessing

After waiting for a message like this to pop out, Nate was great beyond anything at this moment.

The battle was a stressful one if not for the fact that Nate was now a zombie. By now he would have been lying on the ground now while trying to catch his breath.

The fight was not an easy one, Peter had first gone to face the rat but he ended up losing one hand though the rat was not in a good condition after that.

Then, the rat turned into a humanoid porcupine and this caused huge damage to his body being down his HP.

[-45HP/100HP]

[Energy=-50/100]

Nate had tried using the energy to heal himself but still, the HP was down and right now for him to heal the wound he had to either consume human flesh or leave it like that.

The inventory smoke starts to appear on Nate's hand and soon the bag that he used to store his share of Mia's flesh appears on his hand.

Opening the bag, Nate carefully took one of the meat steaks in the bag.

Shoving them into his mouth, the sweet blood aroma spread into his mouth and nose.

[100/100HP]

[100/100 Energy]

Nate nodded his head in satisfaction then now facing the old man.

"I believe you have a lot of explanation to do" muttered Nate before punching the old man in his forehead, knocking him out on that spot.

---

Strapped on a wheelchair was the old man, his body was bonded to a wheelchair and his long white hair was left running down his shoulder.

There were a few stitches on his face covering the most visible wounds on his face, one could also see a few traces of blood on his face at a few parts.

Slowly though, the man's head started to move a little as his consciousness was restored to his body.

"Aha...! Where am I" he shook his head to get a clear view of the place he is.

"Just like I expected, it didn't even take you five minutes to restore your consciousness, Isn't that wonderful for old folks like you" Nate lamented as he got up from the dinner table he was sitting on.

After knocking out the old man, Nate moved forward while looking for a safe building that would prevent any interruption in what he was planning to do.

He knew that he had to move fast, and that is why he had moved into the nearest building, not far from the one the porcupine was sent flying to.

It was just a bungalow that consisted of three rooms and a sitting room.

Though Nate did not find anyone in the house, later on, he found a broken wheelchair on one of the corners of the room just behind the single couch standing right in front of the TV.

Nate tied up the old man in the wheelchair as he waited for the latter to regain consciousness.

Luckily though, just like Nate had expected, it did not take long for the man's body to start moving around.

"First, we will start with your name," Nate said as he adjusted the single couch to a position then facing the old man.

"My...my name is Lyon "The man hesitates to say something for a second.

"Good Lyon, what is it that you are, a human capable of shape-shifting into different animals"

"What exactly are you?"

All this while, Nate had noticed that Lyon doesn't seem to have the same smell as any other human being, though if going deep a zombie might be able to pass the aroma of human blood and flesh.

Yet that doesn't stop the fact that Lyon does not smell like a human and this also got Nate curious.

Of course, he had thought that maybe it was because Lyon was a superhuman and that's why he does not have a clear smell of human blood and flesh.

But when thinking back to one of the superhumans he had fought so far... Kai.

Nate would always think twice about the answer to the matter, this made him keep the main culprit and get the answers from him.

"Maybe I should also ask why you don't smell like a human but instead like a zombie," Lyon asked back.

Nate grabbed the old man's face as he leaned over and whispered in his ear.

"I am the one that will be asking the questions and you will be answering them"

"Mind you also, though I can't see you as a meal, I can still use you as a bit to attract another human" Nate kept silent to listen to the old man's narration.

Taking a long sigh, Lyon said.

"Fine but promise me that you will kill me after I tell you this"

Nate's eye brown raised in confusion.

'Wasn't he that was pleading for his life a few moments back, why is he seeking death now?' Though Nate was confused he had no problem in completing an old man's last wish, especially if it is a simple one in that case.

"Move on" Nate replied without saying anything specific to Lyon to confirm that he had given his word.

"Just like you know I am Lyon by name, though I might look old the truth is that I am not over _forty years old."

Nate was surprised again, no doubt Lyon had wrinkles all over his body, and his eyes were dim out of light, with a rough face.

"I know you might be confused but believe me when I say, I am barely above twenty, though I don't know the exact number I have not lived in this world long enough to be like this"

"Enough, are you playing with me?"

"What do you mean by barely above twenty" Nate sparked, Of course, there is no way he could believe what Lyon had just said.

"Am telling you nothing but the truth, this was all caused by a disease from my childhood, it says that I will age above my age mate and due before sixteen but after sixteen years I was still not dead, I was bullied at..."

"Enough, I didn't say you should narrate your childhood life to me"

"Just fucking tell me what turned you into what you are" Nate interrupted Lyon on his story.

"Ohh...I thought I have seen someone willing to hear my sorrowful story" Lyon murmured on his breath so that Nate would not be able to hear him but what he did not know is that Nate heard it like he was talking directly to his ear.

But still, Nate throws his face to the side while still leaving his ear on Lyon's mouth.

"Well, what I am now is because of that meteorite that hit the earth's surface the day before yesterday"

"I have three pets that have been with me all those years of being bullied"

"Though you didn't let me mention it, at a point in my life, I was crippled, so I was left alone in the streets barely surviving, this also worsened the case of my health"

"So you are saying that you became what you are because of the meteorite?" Nate asked while placing his hand on his chin.

This was a habit of his when he was trying to think deeply about anything.

"But if I may ask, how did a meteorite make you a monster?" Nate asked while on his own, he was also thinking the same question through.

"Because I was bit directly by a meteorite that day while trying to get to a safe place, or where I thought was a safe place," Lyon answered Nate.
