Chapter 16 - Angelica Is Trying To Save Yumi

Leige was a certified big boy now, since he was walking to the dining room by himself in the morning, the first time since he was reincarnated here. So really, he didn't mind purple-hair leaving him on his own.

However, the only, tiny, very slight, absolute minuscule problem was that he got a little bit distracted when he was by himself, compared with when he was with someone who would hurry him up.

It really was only a little complication in his routine, honestly.

It wasn't like he once was supposed to get a Christmas present for a co-worker during a festive game of 'Secret Santa' and ended up in a boy's love cafe in a sketchy area of Tokyo.

...How that happened, he still had no idea.

Of course, if he had a set goal in mind with the right motivation behind it, distraction wouldn't be a problem because he was in work mode.

He just wasn't in work mode right now. In fact, he was actually rather reluctant to eat since he just wanted to get back to his studies.

After all, he was learning.

Yes, when he died, it meant that he was suddenly dragged away of what could have been revolutionary work, a breakthrough in the world of science, or at least in the world he used to live in. But that didn't mean he would give up the chance to expand his knowledge.

And to him, the most exciting prospect of life was that he was able to learn, and grow.

So although he was still fairly annoyed about his past research, learning how to grow stronger in a different aspect in a different world was equally as exciting.

"Leige!" a loud yet familiar voice caused Leige to turn around. George, with the exasperated face that Leige for some reason was starting to see more often, walked up to him.

"Yes?" Leige had been peacefully looking out the window, watching the sun rise as he cleared his mind from the intense reading he had been doing for the past night when George came up to him.

"Leige, we're going to be late to school. I thought a maid was supposed to be escorting you." George scanned the area, and true enough, there was no one save the workers finishing up from cleaning duty from the night.

"Oh. Let's go then." he didn't see the point in saying that purple-hair left him, especially since he was fairly grateful at being able to wander in his thoughts.

"What about breakfast?" George sighed, taking in the appearance of his younger brother. The fluffy pink hair didn't really look as if it would agree to being tamed, as if the hair itself knew of the torture it used to suffer with the gel for no reason since it looked so bad, and the newly found liberty was too precious to let go of.

Most of his annoyance dissipated as he compared Leige to that of a lion cub. Finding his younger brother cute as usual, he pinched Leige's cheeks softly before beckoning him to the direction of the dining hall.

At the very least, Leige could have a bite to eat before they left.

Although Leige himself didn't really see the point in eating, especially since he never expended enough energy physically to feel hungry that often, he stayed silent and allowed George to drag him, gently, to the dining hall.

They both finished eating fairly quickly, with Leige feeling a tinge of guilt since George had waited for him and therefore hadn't eaten much for someone who moved around a lot.

Getting in the car, George placed both of their bags, with lunch, in the back of the car before starting it, knowing they had limited time.

As George was driving, Leige began to feel the anticipated after-effects from last night.

He was sleepy.

Covering a big yawn with his hand, he blinked drowsily, looking out the window to the bland view of other mansions owned by important people he couldn't care less about.

He wondered why people had such grand houses, thinking that he would rather have a tiny apartment so everything would be at arm's length.

...That would be nice.

He drowned into his thoughts as a heavy blanket seemed to press over his eyes, making his eyelids feel heavier and heavier until he fell into the dark abyss of sleep.

Someone gently shook the boy awake.

"Wake up." they really weren't late, but to George, who always preferred to be early than late, compared to Leige who thought it was fine as long as he was on time, they were running behind schedule.

Well, actually, George was fairly busy around the school, always involved in different activities unlike his younger brother, so he did have a reason to stress.

George checked his fancy wristwatch as he waited for Leige to wake up.

"Ok, let's go." he hurriedly got out of the car, with Leige looking at him with disbelief.

How could he walk so fast?

Leige wondered as George opened the door for him and equipped his backpack, fussing around like a mother would probably do to their young child.

Well, not that he would know.

Once Leige was set, George took a glance at his wristwatch and lead Leige to the school with a hand behind his back.

"I need to report to the Teacher's Office, so you can go, ok?" George spoke as he walked to the direction of the office, waving back at his younger brother who stood, dazed, in the crowd of students.

Leige blinked again.

He was pretty sure that he just walked to school in 3 seconds.

That was definitely a record, somewhere, somehow.

Waving back at his brother after a five second delay, he went to his own classroom.

"Lei-"

"Shh."

The blonde girl with big big bo- Yumi was about to run up to greet Leige before being stopped.

Hearing his name, or at least half of it, Leige looked towards the source.

"That guy is dangerous!" a familiar hiss reached Leige's sensitive ears, "Well, he isn't really dangerous... But he's annoying! And a bully! And he has a stronger family than yours!"

Purple-hair glared at Leige from where her and Yumi were standing together.

"Leige-sama." she stressed as she looked at him disdainfully. "I will be sitting where Yumi was sitting, for her safety."

Yumi herself looked clueless as purple-hair glared at Leige.

"Angelica? He's really nice though..." her innocent glance made Angelica turn to smile at her.

"It's called being a two-faced pillock!" Angelica informed her sweetly.

"...Pillock?" Yumi questioned, only to be ushered to her seat by the purple-haired girl.

Leige, having only wanted to walk to his seat, stared blankly at the scene that had been performed before him.

Well, he really didn't care who sat next to him, so he just continued on silently.

As he sat down, Angelica watched him.

She had been expecting a rude retort, or a threat to bring down Yumi's family, which was why she had taken such measures to protect the innocent, sweet girl she knew Leige would be jealous of.

After all, Yumi was a commoner, but she was more powerful than Leige.

Because of the large gap in social status, she had assumed that Leige would not hesitate to try and bully her and take advantage of her, since there was no problem of offending her family.

So why had he not done anything? Or at least, he hadn't done anything according to Yumi, but she personally had also not seen anything in class.

His behaviour seemed strange in the morning as well, although she had never woken him up before, as she usually worked in the opposite end of the mansion.

He didn't make any rude remarks to her either, even though he would have known that her family was struggling with money as she was working for his house.

"Leige-sama." Angelica strode up to where Leige was drowsily looking outside the window, looking as though he would fall asleep any second.

Not bothering to wait for a reply, she raised an eyebrow.

"Are you sick? I thought so. What, did the failed report cards and multiple behaviour warnings finally make their way into your thick skull?" she took a seat, organising all of her stationary and books on the desk before looking back at Leige.

...The little rat had fallen asleep.

Angelica sighed.

He had a such pretty face, but he was so rotten to the core that it wouldn't save him.

How unfortunate.
