Alexis stepped out of her room at exactly 7:58pm. She wore a pair of blue jeans and a red hoodie over it with a pair of plain white sneakers. Yeah that's what she decided to wear after Emanie told her not to wear something 'too thick'.
'why the fuck would he say that??' she had repeatedly asked herself .
She found it so suspicious so she decided to wear the thickest clothes she could find in her closet just to be on the safer side.
She reluctantly walked down the hall towards the main doors, rethinking her decision to go out with this strange but incredibly hot guy she met just two days ago.
It just seemed too good to be true.
'is this another one of my stupid decisions' she asked herself again.
She wasn't voicing out her thoughts but you could see on her face she was thinking about something.
She eventually got to the entrance and she slipped her phone out of her pocket to check the time. It was exactly 8pm, just as Emanie told her.
So many thoughts ran through her head. Was she meant to be late? Being on time felt weird. Did she seem overly excited about going out with him?.
She grabbed the handle of one of the transparent glass doors and as she did she took a last glance at her outfit.
'what if this mf is tryna use reverse psychology?' she thought as her eyes widened 'what if he actually wants me to wear something thick and he only said not to just to get in my head?'.
She thought of going back to change but then again what if he actually meant what he said and she was only being paranoid.
She took in a deep breathe and finally pushed open the door. She stepped out and closed her eyes trying to relax herself as the cool breeze ran through her hair.
'its gonna be fine' she assured herself
"Hey" she heard that voice call, snapping her out of her thoughts.
She sharply opened her eyes and turned her head to face the direction the voice came from.
It was a brown haired guy leaning on the hood of a 2021 Kia forte. She looked away immediately she realized it wasn't Emanie and she didn't even bother glancing at him again.
She began to walk away trying to find somewhere to sit while she waited but before she could even take five steps...
"Goldilocks" she heard that familiar voice call and for some reason she heaved a sigh of relief.
She turned again and she saw Emanie step out of the driver's seat of the Kia forte.
His voice was oddly satisfying. She had concluded within herself that she was never going to get used to it.
She began to walk towards him with a smile and the brown haired guy rolled his eyes and stepped into the backseat of the car.
"Didn't expect you to come this early" Emanie said leaning on the top of the car.
"Yeah, I had nothing else to do" Alexis blurted out and her smile immediately faded as she heard herself.
'What!? You had nothing else to do!!? Who says that!? Dumbass!' that little voice in her head yelled at her.
"Uh... Ok" Emanie replied with furrowed eyebrows. "Come on get in, we need to..." He was saying but then he paused to take a good look at Alexis "seriously?" He asked
"What?" She shot back
"I tell you not to wear something too thick and then you go ahead to wear a pair of jeans and a hoodie?" Emanie raised his eyebrows
"I was feeling a little cold" Alexis replied looking down at her feet.
"Yeah right" Emanie said sarcastically "come on let's go" he added and he stepped into his car.
Alexis stepped into the front passenger seat and closed the door.
"You're gonna need the seatbelt" Emanie said as he turned on the car. "Oh and by the way, that's Ryan in the back seat" he added
"Hey" Ryan said.
"Hi" Alexis replied with a smile . "Where are we going?" She asked turning to Emanie, pulling out her seatbelt.
"You'll see" he replied and he began to drive.
Alexis still wasn't sure if it was such a good idea going out with him.
He drove slowly at first but immediately they got out of the school compound, he stepped on the gas. He drove like a maniac.
"Can you slow down?" Alexis asked at a point.
"Relax" Emanie replied in the calmest voice ever. He was so relaxed you would think he had extra lives.
Alexis just buried her head in her palms taking her eyes off the road. She couldn't watch.
The rest of the drive was quiet. After about ten minutes the car screeched to a stop.
Alexis raised her head to look around. They were parked in front of a house in a street Alexis couldn't recognize. Well actually she couldn't recognize anywhere cuz she didn't live anywhere near Bevard.
They got out of the car and they began to walk back in the direction in which they came. The street was quiet but light was shining on the road from different angles so it wasn't dark.
"Where are we going?" Alexis eventually asked after about two minutes of walking.
"You'll see" Emanie replied
"Why didn't you just park in front of wherever we're going?" She asked curiosity written all over her face.
"You'll see" he replied and just then, he stopped in front of a large gate.
Alexis could now hear music coming from a distance. She looked up at the gate and then she realized.
"Are we at a beach?" She asked looking up at Emanie
"Yeah" he replied with a smile
"Whoa, this beach is open at night?" She questioned. You could tell from her tone that she was really excited.
"Nope" Emanie replied pointing down at the padlock on the floor.
'oh shit' Alexis thought
Emanie pushed open the gate and stepped in, Alexis followed behind him and so did Ryan who had been quiet throughout.
They walked for another two minutes and the music got louder and louder.
Soon they got to the party.
"A beach party?" Alexis asked looking around unable to hide her excitement.
'an illegal beach party' the voice in her head corrected
There were so many people. Guys who already looked drunk and half naked girls everywhere. Music was blasting from God knows where and the sand was littered with red plastic cups.
"Yeah that's why I told you not to wear something too thick cuz you really can't avoid the water" Emanie replied
"Well you could have told me to come with my swim suit. I love swimming!" Alexis said to him
"In the beach, at night?" Emanie questioned "yeah that's not safe" he added "come on Ryan" he said turning to him "wait for us here ok" he told Alexis right before he and Ryan walked away.
She just stood there looking around at everybody. The party was wild, some people were in the water while others were either dancing, smoking or both. She was probably the only freshman there.
After about five minutes of just standing there, a guy walked up to Alexis.
"Hey" he began and Alexis took a step backwards. His breath smelt flammable.
"Hi" she replied avoiding eye contact.
"Don't you wanna get out there and dance?" He asked
"No thanks" Alexis replied sharply.
"Then why..." The guy was saying.
"Steve" Emanie called cutting him short.
It was like he just appeared out of nowhere. Alexis didn't see him coming.
"Cavalero!" the guy turned to face him with a wide smile. He was definitely drunk "been a while" he added
"Yeah, whatever" Emanie began "she's with me" he added. He couldn't point cuz he had two cups in his hands.
"Oh this is your new girlfriend?" He asked
"Walk away Steve" Emanie replied stepping closer to Alexis handing her one of the cups he was holding.
"What's in this?" Alexis asked looking down into the cup.
"I don't really know," Emanie shrugged "I think it's vodka" he added
"I don't wanna take alcohol" Alexis said stretching the cup to him.
She didn't want the literature 101 incident to repeat itself.
"Ok" Emanie replied taking the cup from her "Steve get her fruit punch" he said handing the cup to Steve. "And please get us chairs" he added
"Ok" Steve replied and he turned to walk away.
"So what do you think?" Emanie asked turning to Alexis.
"It's fine" She shrugged
"You wanna dance later?" He asked with a smile.
"Hmm not really" Alexis replied avoiding eye contact "I want to get in the water" she added looking up at him.
"That's not safe and you're on jeans " Emanie said and he turned away taking a sip of whatever was in his cup "yeah that's definitely vodka" he muttered to himself.
About a minute later Steve came back with two chairs and a cup of fruit punch.
"Thanks" Alexis smiled taking the cup from him.
"Anything for Cavalero's bae" he replied
"Walk away Steve" Emanie said sitting in one of the chairs
Steve walked away and Alexis sat in the other chair as she took a sip of her fruit punch.
"Mm, the punch is really good" She said turning to Emanie
"Yeah" he replied "by the way, are you familiar with drugs?" He asked out of nowhere.
"You mean weed?" Alexis questioned taking another sip of the punch
"No" Emanie replied "I'm talking Cocaine" he added
"No I've never even seen that" Alexis replied sharply and Emanie just chuckled taking a sip of his vodka "what?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"Nothing, it's just..." He began with a smile "tonight is gonna be fun" he added.
"But why did..." Alexis was saying.
"Twerk off!!!!" A guy yelled from the crowd cutting her off.
Then the music changed and everywhere got rowdy. Alexis couldn't figure out what was going on cuz she was sitting.
"Twerk off?" She questioned.
"Yeah. It's this competition where girls twerk their asses off for about three hundred bucks" Emanie replied.
"Wow that's actually a lot of money" Alexis said and she took another sip of her punch. She lowered the cup and turned her head to see Emanie staring at her with a smile "no" she said answering the unasked question.
"Fine" Emanie turned away.
Then there was a few minutes of silence. Alexis had nothing to say so she just kept sipping her punch while Emanie just kept smiling at nothing. It was like he was waiting for something to happen.
Soon, Alexis finished the punch and she dropped the cup.
"So that guy from the other day..." Emanie began
"Adam?" She questioned turning to him "you know, I really love how you put him in his place." She continued, her voice getting higher "that asshole was probably tryna mess with me again. I don't wanna hear anything about him, I don't even wanna hear his name. In fact I wish something terrible would happen to him.." she went on "like he would fall down the stairs and break his neck or something" she added.
She was talking so much and she didn't even realize but Emanie did. There was something wrong.
"Uh... Not that guy" Emanie said with narrowed eyes "I mean the guy from the first day we talked. " He continued "dreadlocks" he added
"Oh, that's Amarr" Alexis told him.
"Yeah," Emanie began "so is he like your boyfriend or what?" He asked
"What? No!" Alexis replied sharply "I mean I think he's cute with the dreadlocks and all but we haven't really gotten to talk that much so I don't really know how I feel about him" she continued "but you!..." "With those green eyes and broad shoulders, you're practically a greek god" she added
"Oh really you think so?" Emanie questioned raising his eyebrows.
"Yeah, I mean I was practically drooling over you at that party on the first day" she began "like how can you look this good!?" She continued.
"Yeah..." Emanie began looking down at his cup with a smile on his face. "I have to tell you something" he said.
"What?" Alexis asked sharply.
"Your drink was drugged" he replied raising his head to face her.
"What?" She questioned tilting her head
"There was Cocaine in the fruit punch" he replied with focused eye contact.
"What?" Alexis laughed leaning into her chair "no wonder bro" she continued "I feel crazy" she added
"Yeah I see" Emanie chuckled and he took another sip of his vodka.
Then there was brief silence. About thirty seconds later, Alexis sprang up from her seat.
"Where are you going?" Emanie asked looking up at her
She pulled off her hoodie and flung it on the chair. She had a blue sleeveless top underneath. "I'm gonna get in the water" she replied and she immediately ran off.
"Shit, no!" Emanie yelled getting up from his seat to run after her.
Alexis was so fast, she was already running into the water when Emanie eventually caught up with her.
"Alexis you're gonna get soaked" he said grabbing her by her wrist.
"I don't care" she replied trying to release herself from his grip "let me go Emanie" she added.
Where she was standing, the water was only up to her ankles.
"No, it's not even safe to be in the water at night" he told her.
"Let her go Cavelero" One of the girls in the water said
"You shut your mouth" Emanie fired "Alexis come on" he said trying to drag her out of the water but she kept resisting.
"No!" She yelled back
Emanie kept trying to drag her but she just wanted to get in the water.
Then a group of boys ran through the crowd and some people followed. Everybody was confused at first but then they all came to realize...
"Cops!" Someone yelled from the crowd and everybody immediately began to scatter.
It wasn't the first time cops would show up to their party so they all knew what to do.
" the cops are here" Emanie said to Alexis still trying his best to drag her out of the water.
"Let me go!" she yelled back and she finally released herself from his grip but she couldn't keep her balance. She fell into the shallow part of the water hitting her head.
"Alexis!" Emanie yelled but she was already unconscious "no no no no no, not now" he muttered as he lifted her out of the water. "Alexis open your eyes, you have to wake up" he said to her but she definitely wasn't opening her eyes anytime soon. "Shit!" he yelled out already fidgeting. By then, almost everybody was gone
"Bro the cops are here" Ryan said running towards him. "Did you kill her?" He asked immediately he was close enough to see Alexis was unconscious.
"Yeah, of course I killed her right here in front of everybody!" Emanie yelled at him
"This is not the time to be sarcastic bro" Ryan replied.
"Just get her hoodie please thank you" Emanie said lifting Alexis into his arms. "Fuck my life" he muttered.
