Chapter 26 - Carrots!

"This gotta be a joke," Gustav said, as the quakes almost knocked him down.

The relation of these crystals with Terruga seemed very unlikely, and yet an unmistakable pattern of shakes erupted, right when he grabbed a single crystal.

"How the hell would it know? It's not like we ripped its balls off." Arila added.

Although that was a joke, it helped enhance a special theory. Now, Gustav was even more under the impression that these crystals, and Terruga where somehow connected.

It didn't make sense, but a lot of things here were confusing when they lacked context. Either way, he could think about this stuff later on when things aren't so intense.

"Dunno if they're Terruga's balls, but we definitely stole something! Be ready, we have to fight soon." Gustav added, as he held onto the ground with one hand just to not fall down again.

When the quakes got even more intense, it was obvious that trouble was close by. They peeked in all directions, in a paranoid way, just to intercept which route the threat would come through!

They noticed that this fifteen-meter wide cave was attached to three tunnels! If they were disoriented to the slightest after this point, they'd easily forget the way out of here.

Gustav was anxious about that, so he didn't want to take any chances. For that matter, he held on to a blaster even tighter now and stalked the perimeter.

In the meantime, he noticed that Arila held on to her sword rather than a dependable, violent blaster! It was worrying and a bit stupid.

For that matter, he yelled out. "What are you doing? We're not fighting this thing hand to hand, so leave your sword where it is!"

Before the other could even comprehend that sentence, the ground below them suddenly arose with a staggering eruption as its plague!

Arila was too light, so she was tossed away almost instantly thanks to this ruckus. Unfortunately, her spine had to endure some blunt damage, because she landed right over the crystals!

"For fuck's sake..." She mumbled, and slowly slid down, to what was left of the ground.

Thankfully she was armored up, or else a gruesome death would've been guaranteed. She escaped several stabs with that heavy, body armor that even covered her all the way down to those rhinoceros butt-cheeks!

As for her head, only that foot-long horn crashed against a crystal. It didn't withstand any damage, but it chipped off another 'demon crystal' off the wall.

"Should've used my sword," Arila said, as she noticed how much the battle had escalated.

Gustav on the other hand, he wasn't as bruised in comparison. In fact he was mostly fine, because that big and fur-covered head of his could withstand a lot of blows!

Some dirt and small rocks landed on his head, but he barely even noticed them. Instead, he battled anything that attacked from below!

"Terruga, you bastard!" He yelled out.

When the ground erupted, he had not been tossed away due to a couple of reasons. He was too heavy, and therefore instantly pierced through the ground, instead of getting tossed upwards!

Apart from that, the 'blood roots' which came here with its arms flinging around, somehow got a hold of Gustav's leg. He wasn't going anywhere, and decided to use that little disadvantage.

"Can't hold me down!" He hollered, and jerked his big arms around.

Things weren't going well at the moment, as even the battle started off badly. He lost that blaster in the collision, and didn't want to risk looking for where it went, because it would cost an arm and a leg if he struggled too much, literally.

"Grew a few extra arms, huh?" Gustav grunted, as he wrestled this monster with every available limb that he had.

If it wasn't for such staggering restrictions, he would depend on the four-foot longsword as a last result. It too had fallen, however, and was snug somewhere between the enemy's countless layers!

He didn't give up regardless. Even his trunk was preoccupied in battle, so he relied on an unusual method in exchange for some freedom.

Without a sense of hesitation, he bit one of these blood-colored roots!

"Haha!" Gustav celebrated, as the root flinched away in response.

Mammothian jaws were powerful enough, as unlike what one would expect, he wasn't actually vegetarian. The human-like body he could transform into, provided him with an omnivorous digestive system in exchange.

A mammoth's jaws could break small bones apart, and in this case, he got a mouthful of these weird roots! It tasted really bad, so he spat it out right away.

Anyway, this sudden counter-attack set one of his arms free. Gustav used this small freedom to manhandle the blood-root, that battled his three-foot long trunk!

"Finally," He grunted.

Any lesser man would use this growing opportunity to wrestle with the monster even more, but he didn't bother. Instead, he reached out for one of the tiny utility belts that were strapped on his other arm, and popped a blaster out of them.

"Let's see how fried Terruga tastes," He joked, and tightened the small cylinder-like weapon until he heard a click.

After that click, a notorious blast pierced through the monster. Its orange features were blinding, which created an interesting scene in exchange!

Blood burst out in all directions, and it thankfully wasn't Gustav's. All of his limbs were intact, but the enemy was nicknamed 'blood roots' for numerous reasons!

Terruga puked out tens of pounds of blood, and the light its limbs emitted of the same color, blended in the scene quite well.

For a hot second, the flashes made Gustav think that he saw a bunch of carrots, after the blast!

The orange light which ruptured through the monster, created a mix of colors for a very short moment. It was beautiful, but tremendously scary at the same time.

He didn't stop shooting regardless, and hollered. "Die motherfucker!"

At the same time, he fell through the hole which the enemy created. A whole lot of roots were burned down to a crisp, so the surroundings were a lot more roomy now!
